It's the start of a new year, so it's time to predict and also keep track of how much we'll be spending on gaming in 2025. This includes everything typically considered game related, such as games (digital or physical), DLC, in-app purchases, subscriptions, collector's editions, accessories like controllers and headsets, consoles, PC gaming setups and upgrades, TVs and audio setups mainly used for gaming, figurines, collectibles, art books, and other gaming merchandise. Generally if you think something that you buy is gaming related, it goes here.

Feel free to reserve your post and update it along the way. You can also provide weekly and/or monthly updates. Cheers!

Backlog is so massive that I’m genuinely trying to hold off on buying anything this year.

In terms of hardware- LG C1 still kills it. Got a PS5 Pro in 2024. 7600x/7900xt PC is still overkill. I don’t need anything… do I need a rtx 5080 tho??? 🤔

Anywhere from 500 to 1000 is my guess. I went with 500-750 range.

I don't see myself getting a new TV yet, and no plans to upgrade PC since I built it mid 2023.

Most of the spending will be on just games, and even then I don't buy very many titles at launch.

This year so far it's as follows:
Sniper Elite: Resistance - day one $60 (forgot this was coming out so soon)
GTA VI - day one $70
MH Wilds - near launch $70
DOOM: The Dark Ages - day one $70

Spent well over $4k last year. I think I am gonna refrain to around $1k if I don't end up upgrading my sound system.
Yeah, kind of the same. I did the final tally for last year recently, and I went a bit overboard with my gaming spending. 😅

This year, I'll hover around €3,000, and that's mostly because of the Switch 2 and some game imports I plan to make from Asia/Japan.

Will probably end up around 1-1.5/2K this year. New Nintendo console, several games, pro controllers etc.

And it’s Mario’s 40th anniversary as well, and I’m a sucker for the anniversary stuff so I’ll probably spend a bit on that stuff as well I imagine.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Switch 2 coming out this year, and I'll probably buy at least two of them. +games +extra controllers +whatever else. And that's not counting Steam purchases and other random stuff. Gonna be a wallet emptying year I'm afraid.

EDIT: voted $3,000 - $3,500

Going with the $751 - $1000 range. No real plans to buy a lot this coming year outside of games and I don't really buy many microtransactions.

Could go above into the next category if Nintendo surprises me with a couple must play games and compels me to buy their next console but I'm not big on their non Metroid IPs so chances are slim.

After massively overspending in 2024 by about $700 because I ended up buying a PS5 Pro, I'm attempting to not spend any "real" money on gaming in 2025. That means no subscriptions, no buying games with cash, no hardware, nothing. Birthday / Christmas gifts will be allowed. My backlog is at least 20 great games deep, I should be fine as long as Nintendo doesn't reveal a new Xenoblade or Fire Emblem for the Switch 2, and as long as Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake isn't a 10/10 experience.

Voted $3500-$4000 $4000-$4500 as picking up 5090 / 9950x3d as soon as they become available.

Edit 1: Forgot that I will be doing a custom loop for this build so maybe another $800
Edit 2: Forgot about Switch 2 so bumping up

I'm in, I think Switch 2 will take most of my money this year, just because it's the up front cost of the device and the games which never decrease. There's a few Sony titles which I want and Gamepass should tide me over. Honestly I feel value for gaming has never been better, and I'm spending less.

After the amount I wasted in 2024 I'm aiming to spend no more than £200 on software this year. Hardware probably a lot more if I get a switch 2, a PS5 pro or new GPU.

Will probably not bother with any subscriptions once my current ones run out.

Probably around $1k, potentially a lot more since I’m grabbing a switch 2

Depends on how many games interest me

Cheap hobby for the hours I get out of it

Bought around 40 less games/content than last year. Expecting about the same for 25, even with the Switch 2.

Well it will be MUCH less this year as I spent well over 3 Grand last year thanks to a PS5 Pro and my first gaming PC plus a bunch of games on Steam mostly.

This year no hardware except a few controllers. Will be paying for Game Pass Ultimate plus some PS5 games and Steam games.

Right now I'm gonna guess around $1000 for this year but we will see...

So far for January - $20 for Game Pass Ultimate

Edmund

is waiting for Starfield 7
I budget around $1500 per year for games.

Already preordered

1) Dynasty Warriors Origins
2) MH Wilds
3) Fatal Fury City Of the Wolves

Will get Civ 7 and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 down the road after a discount.

Ghost of Yotei will be day one.

All games I buy are automatically 20-30% off due to vouchers that I use to purchase psn gift cards cheap.

Bought Monster Hunter Wilds and Dyansty Warriors Origins. I’m hoping I spend more on games in 2025 than any year to date.
