My Ps5 controller had a small amount of drift before i bought the Pro. Fixed it with a good blow out.
Only real issues ive ever had was with PS2 cables breaking.. went through even more madcatz or whatever brand they were.

Ps5 controller was the first time I've had a controller drift. I traded the console in and they didn't spot it so I got lucky! I bought a replacement that I use in my ps5 pro.

If this won't go away with standard controllers, I'll buy a magnetic stick controller from whoever makes best 3rd party one.

I have 2 Dualsenses (3 actually but one's still in its box so I ASSUME that still works but I guess it's no guarantee). 1 controller got severe stick drift. Unusable. The other had a battery that lasted literally 5 minutes.

Recently I got annoyed that neither of them would work and threw them both at the wall, which miraculously fixed the stick drift. So I now have 1 working (unboxed) controller. Didn't fix the battery issue though.

I have 4 Dualsense controllers, 2 at launch and another 2 two years into the console gen. No stick drift on any of them. I have about 1800 hours in Destiny 2 and hundreds of hours in various other games. One of them got a faulty charging port however, but that’s the only problem I’ve had with any of them.

1 out of 3 has stick drift. It's not severe though and doesn't get in the way of playing. I'd say drift is as bad as it was with Dualshock4 controllers.

Two out of three for me. Great controller let down by shit sticks. You pay these companies enough money for them and it's not like they can't afford sticks that don't drift.
They all need suing.

In the UK the retailer Curry's offers an "instant replacement" service, on a Dualsense you pay between £12 and £16 (depending what price the controller is at the time) and you get 3 years of unlimited replacements for non-accidental damage, eg stick drift or broken haptic triggers.

There's no repair attempted and no stringent examination to make sure it wasn't damaged just because you dropped it or the like, so really it does cover accidental as long as its not obviously been intentionally smashed.

I have that on one of my controllers and I've used it twice on the controller I have it on and the one I got with the PS5, they don't check serial numbers so you can essentially replace unlimited controllers unlimited times for 3 years.

Yeah, Currys Instant Replacement is amazing.

Replaced my washing machine for free with a brand new model after it went bust on me.

More people should utilise these shop services till MS/Sony/Nintendo get off their behinds and replace these old ass standard sticks with the obvious replacement... hall effect.

I dislike DualSense and use my three DS4 as often I can. All bought second-hand and my charcoal black had drift but I followed a youtube video and fixed it by taking it apart and cleaning it.
Another midnight blue got slight drift I think but I use that one with my PC only and in Steam I set dead-zone larger and woilah, no drift!
The other two works well now. The freshest V3 DS4 was so new that it probably won’t drift for long as I play gently and no fighting games or multiplayer competitive gaming.

The DualSense are bulky and horrible to use and get drift easier than V2/V3 DS4 is my guess.

Performing L3+R2 jump attack in souls-games is souch more difficult on Sense than on DS4 btw

The Dual Sense has been the most fragile controller I've ever used, and it's really put me off the PS5 in general. Between me and my son, we've had multiple controllers develop stick drift, sticky face buttons and broken springs on the L2/R2.

I managed to fix one of the two L2/R2 springs by pulling the controller apart and reattaching it, but the other actually had a broken spring. The face button stickiness is my son eating while playing, but pulling apart the controller and cleaning it didn't help. Replacing sticks is too involved for me and not worth my time.

I wound up buying several controllers when they went on sale and keeping them in the closet. When he complains enough about another broken controller, I give him a new one and just toss the old one. It's been frustrating enough that we've both moved to the PC almost completely. The standard Xbox controller is much less prone to hardware failure in my experience. I've also really enjoyed the Kong Pro 2 which has hall effect sticks.

I am probably not buying a PS6 if Sony keeps bringing their single-player games to PC. But I'm definitely not buying one unless they put some work into making the controller more reliable.

My Dualsense all develop it, my series X controllers all develop it, and my joycons all develop it. There’s a way to make these things where it just doesn’t happen, but these companies refuse to do it. It’s absurd.

A preowned Dualsense I got developed it shortly after me getting it. The one I bought new has been fine. My Switch developed stick drift within my first 300-ish hours of using it though. 10 years ago I'd never even heard of stick drift and now it seems to be a major problem. Did the PS2/360/GC etc ever have this problem? Never experienced it on older consoles. Why does it just seem to be a modern issue?

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
i hope sony release a hall effect replaceable stick for edge, but we know they wont.

Hopefully switch 2 joystick is hall effect, that could give sony some pressure.

3 dualsense, 1 edge. All right stick drifting. I just ordered 1 stick module.

Found someone who can modify the dualsense controller with hall effect sticks, but not the edge. Seriously considering that. I love the edge but drifting sticks infuriates me to no end.

Also to add, NONE of my controllers since the PS2 has drifted. Very unlucky this gen I guess.

0/7. Although I don't have that much play time and I have a lot of DS so i'm an unusual case (I'm a sucker for special editions).

I’ve had terrible luck this generation with these controllers. Before this replacing controllers was really rare. Maybe it’s me idk but I won’t even consider an elite controller now as I have doubts due to the standard ones.

I'm almost certain this will happen when I play Death Stranding 2.

I went through Bloodborne and the tiny Start/Options button needed three presses after a while.

The sticks are getting loose on this same controller too.

I got a new one which feels better but the battery life is even lower than the old one.

I'm resigned to my fate, whatever.

I can get a brand new controller at Sam's for $59 at least.

3 launch PS5 - those controllers all got the drift. Those are gone.
We have about 6 currently and one edge. No problems.

Its either that we have options and less wear and tear or they are better. We are gentle on our electronics i'd say.

I don't wanna repeat myself. So I'll just lazly link my posts.

Anyways two of my DualSenses drift a bit.

I think I will put either TMR or capatience joysticks in my DualSense I use with my PC at least.

Buy new controller from Amazon, put old controller in the box, return for refund. No one ever checks. Been doing this with Xbox pads for years which eventually develop a problem with the triggers. Like fuck am I paying for that.

This is the reason this happens....

All controlers get drift problems. Just be as gentle you can to avoid the issue

So strange. I've had multiple Dualsense controllers in the past couple of years and I've had ZERO issues

But it sucks big time obv

Being gentle and avoid controller falling mitgate the issue

They do check and can charge you. I’ve seen people do this at Walmart.

I just need a third party controller that has all the DS feature + hall effect sticks to never buy this piece of shit hardware from Sony again. It is obvious that they don't fix their shit because people keep replacing the controllers.

Also, people justifying this shit on $80 controllers make me sick.

I bought a Nintendo Pro Controller, had it in the box for 15 or 20 days after buying it. Then started using it cause I connected the handheld to a computer monitor, played for two or three days (1 or 2 hours per day) and then it started drifting. Claimed warranty and they replaced the analog mechanism, since then having it used for months and haven't had any more troubles.

My launch DS had drift that made my character move by itself, I'm cheap so looked for solutions online and made several "massage" to the faulty stick, sometimes it worked for brief time but lol after certain time the drift just want away! I'm now maybe 2 years since that and no drift since then. :)

I've had 1 Dualsense experience drift on the left stick, but doing that rotation routine fixed it for a few months until I just bought a new one on sale.

Can't remember any Xbox controllers getting drift (mainly 360 as I barely played the other gens, if at all), though I have definitely seen people complain about drift, even in the Elite versions.

Nintendo controllers have suffered from drift, including the Switch joycons, and I barely used them, genuinely. Most of that little time I did use the Switch, I used my DS4 with the 8bit bluetooth adaptor (because fuck Nintendo making bluetooth have drm basically), so that was extra concerning.

Guess it's a mixture of RNG and low quality products being charged at a premium. Either way, most, if not all, companies need to do better. Charging about £50-70 for a "basic" controller / controllers with a random life cycle is not on.

I have 3 controllers, none of them have stick drift. Edge is my main controller ever since I got it.

I guess I don't play enough.

My controller never fall and i keep it in very good shape yet it had stick drift (that i managed to fix),
Never had in more then 20 years of playing on consoles any stick drift before, and as you can see that's a common issue with the DS.

Think the intensity of how folk game counts too. It's not surprising that aggressive gamers tend to burn through controllers. I watched a mate basically shred the hell out of the thumbsticks when he was playing his games.

i think dual sense actually more durable than dualshock 4, i have more than 20k hours in FF14, 14k with PS4 and 6k with PS5, 4 dead dualshock controllers and none of dual sense so far, and FF14 is the game that go hard on controller, especially if you do raid, need to smash all of these buttons to squeeze in 2 or 3 more ability in matter of second

DualSense quality control is trash. I haven't had any stick drift but I've had other issues like sticks that squeak and don't move smoothly, the plastic shell start creaking horribly when I've barely used it, etc...

Those are disgusting lmao.

This is my 8+ years old DS4 that came with the PS4 Pro, back button attached, no stick drift. Normal daily usage.

This is my 4 months old Dual Sense from PS5 Pro. Normal daily usage. I have more issues with cleaning dead thumb skin from the stick rubbers than DS4, but other than that, no drift.

I havent had a DS drift yet since launch but I did get a DS edge in a trade and that one had the RS drift after a month and change so I've already had to buy a module.

With the regular DS the most annoying issue ive had is that the stick cap becomes loose and spins around when you move the stick, making it kinda slippery lol, dunno how to fix that one.
