A Reputable Leaker Claims that Square Enix is Working on a Remake to the Beloved PlayStation 2 Game Final Fantasy X

You know what I mean.

I seriously doubt you will get any more Big Budget FF remasters/remakes. Even FF7R Part 3 is likely only being done because they can do it on the cheap because of what's already been built.

The earlier games just got the Pixel Remaster. It only makes sense that they would now do the 8-13 games.

Don't do that. Don't do that to my boy FFXII.

Indeed, FFXII is a great FF.

VIII makes the most sense coming from VII Remake with X second.
6 & 9 make the least to everyone but IX & VI hardcore's fans.

8 is a bad game, unfortunately.

Maybe you're saying it makes the most sense commercially? I guess I wouldn't argue that specifically, but in terms of a game there's nothing there worth updating; it has the worst, stupidest story reveals of all these that are being mentioned, and also the worst gameplay/leveling system in junctioning. It's awful all over.

9 is a great story with great characters, including a series all-timer in Vivi. It also has a combat/leveling system with which they can basically do almost anything they want. The experience of the game isn't tied to something idiotic, like junctioning.

Almost all of that is also true of 6 -- far better story, plot, characters, not tied to a horribly dumb system -- and of course the added benefit is that of anything being mentioned, 6 is the one that would most benefit from this kind of update.

I don't expect any of these to happen, honestly, 7 is special circumstances and doesn't really seem to be selling enough to demand more of these ground-up remakes... but in terms of what they each represent as games, if they were figuring out which ones to update 8 should be close to the very last on that list.

People can complain all they want but I'm all in for this one... as long as it's ONE GAME not the episodic shit they are doing with VII (until the eventual final release combining all 3 episodes into one, as it should have been all along).

I wouldn’t mind X, but I would love a revamped 8. The draw system would have to be re-worked, but 8 was awesome. One of my favorite soundtracks as well.

They already remastered it so... yay?

It's my favorite FF but it's released on so many platforms in the past 10 years. Isn't this overkill?

Let’s get to 9 first.

And they are doing these remakes because the current ff games are not that good.

For You, But for me and others IX was meh coming from VII & VIII, but generally okay for those that wanted that itch scratched, Like TR: Chronicles which release at the same time.

Without any opinions on the matter, yes
Commercially VIII and X are the only rivals to VII
granted rereleases of IX has done it well.
But going by it's original release it was the worst selling FF on PSone selling less then half of VIII.
even when doing the HD ports regardless of what you think of them, FFVIII got a Remaster along with a physical standalone release.
IX got the mobile version ported to console.

I disagree, I didn't find the junctioning system difficult to understand and easily adapted to it from FFVIII.
the story was fascinating depending on what you take from it.

IX characters outside of Vivi & Steiner was probably the most unmemorable of the series
Can't remember their names

But they was lame ass characters and forgotten the moment I completed the game.
And the Bad guy?
21ORZ15.png

Is Sephiroth attending Pride or something?

On to combat, not only was it slow as fuck but they added a 4th Character to the battle system which made it worse.
And the story? I honestly can't remember so I can't comment, it probably was a nice story
But VII, VIII & X are Unforgettable.
Now I hear people say it also has the best OST..
VII & VIII are undeniably god tier, FFIX could be any random RPG background music, so I don't know what people are smoking with that idea.
I know nearly every track name from of VII & VIII
And I could instantly recognise them the moment they start playing.
But IX? The Main Theme maybe?
Now don't get me wrong, I'd happily buy a Remake but it wouldn't be a first or second choice.

I think VIII would benefit a lot from a remake because the story needs significant improvements and a remake could do that. The college-style setting of VIII would also give it a Hogwarts Legacy style atmosphere which would be cool. I don’t think it’d sell well though because it doesn’t have the big following of VII.
