Thanks to user --R on ResetERA for sharing/finding this out.
As Platinum seems to be falling apart, it's good to see a lot of the staff joining other studios out there. Pretty surprising to see him getting into Housemarque as a lead game designer.

He previously directed Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, released in 2023.

Oh, weird....this is the same dude that helped save the last known holy grail Sony CRT. Random af.

Aside from the fact that this dude seems like good people, I fear for the future of HouseMarque. They were my absolute favorite PlayStation studio. I know Origins reviewed well and all, but I thought it was pretty mid and NOWHERE near the level of what HouseMarque would've done with it. I'll remain cautiously optimistic but ugghhh.

Also, shouldn't HouseMarque be ready to show off what they've been working on the last four years? Or were they in such shambles after those departures that Abebe is coming on as lead game designer starting with zero?

Platinum died when they couldn't get Helena Taylor back for Bayonetta 3. It just didn't feel the same without her. Also the graphics looked worse than Bayo 2.

Well, we know they were working on a new IP utilizing scrapped mechanics from Returnal...but that's been a spell now.
That makes a lot of sence as a next project. Tears of the Kingdom was made in a similar way, starting out as DLC for Breath of the Wild and expanding into a full game.

Sony should grab platinum Games and all of its ips least they would have multiple Japanese studios to work with

With their best talent gone and no relevant IPs, Platinum is no more.

I wonder about Yoko Taro's situation. He can't be happy with current Square. He would be a perfect fit at Shift Up if Nier/Drakengard belonged to him.

Shift Up doing Nier with Yoko Taro at the helm would be awesome. Or maybe if they created a new IP it could result in something great. It would be a cool collaboration nonetheless.

I wonder who is developing the next Nier game with Yoko Taro. Is it an internal Square Enix team? Is it toybox again?
I mean they aren't limited to Platinum, Toybox or SE. They could just as easily hire Kamiya's new studio since he poached a bunch of Platinum devs anyway.

Shiftup can be commisioned as well since they're huge NieR fans.

As for internal SE teams, maybe they can use the devs who made that Final Fantasy souls or their FF16 team.

Everytime I see the name Housemarque, I'm reminded how amazing Returnal is, and feel the itch to re-install it.

I just wish I didn't suck so bad at it. It's been a while since they announced anything.

Good news but I hope it doesn't mean their next project is still years away...
It's been nearly 4 years since Returnal released. I would be a bit surprised if we don't get info this year on their new game.

IMO, Housemarque could be an elite AAA studio by next generation. Definitely the most prominent up and coming studio Playstation has currently. Everybody talks about Bluepoints upcoming game, but I'm way more hyped for Housemarque working on their first AAA game

Housemarque and Team Asobi are definitely the best studios Sony currently has.
