AC: Valhalla |OT| From Nordic runes to English ruins

Can't seem to get the the over design II trophy..
It's the last one I need...
I saw a video where someone baited three heavy spear guards, climbed a house, set the roof on fire and stood in the flames while catching and returning the thrown spears. Took him 3 minutes to get the Trophy.

It's either glitched or the guides are wrong about how you get it. I did 6 in a row with the on the roof on fire method and nothing. But then I stopped bothering reloading after failing to get the trophy and got it on the 1st kill attempting another group without reloading inbetween. I had also killed a bunch of guys on an earlier attempt at a much lower level so I'm guessing that you need the 3 kills in different combat encounters. Just kill 1 per attempt and deagro inbetween and it should work.

I hope so I will keep at it...
Kinda don't want to go back to the game anymore though.. It was long!

How about...

In the same video in the comment section:
For those of you having trouble, set that first house directly in front of the gate on fire - then simply stand on the roof and unload arrows on any enemies without shields. The fire won't do too much damage if you lower the difficult to easy. I got mine in literally 5 minutes. Level 280.
Same guy also pointed out:
The shield isn't what's important, the important part is that they be several levels above you, thus the skull icon.

I'm still playing. Trying my hardest to get into this game. I find it so boring still. I know all AC games essentially had the same format, but I was just way more into the last 2 RPG style ones than I am this one. I even find the raids kinda dull. I'm gonna stick it out though.

I thought it was kill enemies without breaking their shields - so you have to find enemies with shields and standing on the roof shooting at anyone won’t unlock it?

Or it does? I can’t work it out because in the link I posted he goes after the 3 standard bearers with shields.

Did the Yule update go away? I have 2 glitched missions, one of them the last wizard to get the gear in the hidden vault. Can't start the fight after the Yule update. Wanna go in and play if a new update landed to fix it.

Ended 7th January but I think the art is still on the dashboard before you load the game.

Read your last sentence again. There’s no new update. Yet.

I saw someone comment elsewhere that they got it killing archers. I guess if they dont have a shield you cant break it. The enemy I got it off was a standard sword and board guy. I just sniped him with a bow while on fire and in combat. The reason that people use the standard bearer enemy is that they are fast and easy to kill as you just chuck their spear back at them for an instant kill and that location the guides use has loads of that enemy. Like I say I managed to kill 6 of the fuckers in one go without breaking combat or the fire going out and the bloody trophy still didn't pop. Just try the one at a time method and see if that works.

God the more I play Assassins Creed Valhalla the more I question gamers and journalists.. i meant the ai is so bad and so many times during missions you'll just see how the cracks show and the game is taking shortcuts, very lazy bloated game. I enjoyed the first 30 hours, but after 60 this thing has turned sour for me big time. Immortals Fenyx rising is certainly far more polished and correctly put together.

Fair point re if they don’t have shields. I’m level 340 now so unless I reset all my skills I won’t be getting it.

Just in case people who have never played the game and can't tell from that footage... ACV has a really strange animation when walking stairs. it's like a stuttering affect from the waist down that doesn't look normal and you can't really capture the footage (no pun intended) well.

Not game breaking, but it takes you out of the emersion a bit.

Yeah. The snow deformation is rly good though I like playing in it.

But the amount of clipping and camera angle glitching that I experience whenever I sometimes do the stun kills or whatever is so annoying.

I was also doing a mission earlier where like arrows just kept on coming from nowhere. I had to burn down something, I threw a red pot at it, it blew up, I walked like 10 feet away, I come back and there's a pot in the same exact place where I picked up the first one.. it's just so weird to me how gamey this game is..

For the most part I do enjoy the combat it feels weighty and nice and there's some great boss fights I guess. I liked some of the archs earlier on but now I don't care as much sadly it just feels like I'm repeating everything... It's a shame I really enjoyed the first 20-30 hours like a lot but I've rly just dropped interest..

Also I don't understand why the stealth in an Assassin's creed game is basically useless.

I’m 144 hours and just want to get it finished now. Think I have to side with one more area to get to the end zone.

I have been doing all the side quest and collections though for the special weapons.

I think I finished. Ubi needs to learn that anything in the modern day or to do with Aenimus is garbage. Just make them period piece games and skip the BS. I don't see the point of playing after the story, this isn't Destiny, it's just collecting things.

Been having a bug that every time I fast travel while in a boat.....
The game loads with the boat outside of the water.

not every time, but more than once that happen. And I couldn’t leave the boat after....

Outside of this bugs, the game plays better than odyssey at least doesn’t drag with all the content that odyssey has.

Patch is out. Still only have 12 arrows ffs.
It worked for me. The update won't max out your arrows for you. You have to go around collecting arrows to see that it works.

What I did:
-Loaded a save file
-Saw that it was 12 arrows
-Fast traveled to Repton (whole bunch of arrows around the fort wall)
-Started collecting arrows and it went to max of my quiver level (26 hunter arrows for me)

Give it a try.

Unfortunately, the update did not fix the climbing the stairs clipping/stutter animation.

Yeah I suppose they took it out to stop people not cheating exactly but an unfair advantage. I know in AC Odyssey for example, I used to cheese the bounty hunters by climbing up high and hitting them with arrows, they would never climb up to catch you so I’d rinse through my arrows then just go and make another batch and carry on.

Same half way through a major boss fight / legendary creatures you could do it too if you wanted.

Insanity darts were always my fave. Used to love in previous games going into a camp / stronghold and firing a couple off then watching the carnage unfold. I’d actually pay a micro-transaction for those to come back!!

Also arrows now take enemies down on a skill based mechanic (weakpoints), so you have a smaller number of arrows but they can be hugely more effective if wielded skillfully. Some of those brutes can be finished almost immediately.

As a disclaimer, my experience with the AC series thus far is: finished 2, finished Brotherhood, tried Revelations but the tower defense minigame really took me out of it - then finished Black Flag, tried Unity but ehh..., finished Syndicate, tried Odyssey for a while but the level gating made me lose interest.

So, after trying to play Cyberpunk on a Pro (literally just trying, but it's for another thread) I saw this on a PSN sale and thought might as well give it a go. And there are good things in here:
  • The game has a nice draw distance, rather stable 30fps and functional HDR. And it crashed on me just a few times! While this may seem like insignificant, remember, I'm coming from playing Cyberpunk.
  • The side quests can be absolutely bonkers, and I love it. Functionally, they can be just fetch quests or something menial, but the actual motivation for them can be really amusing. Do I want to collect X herbs for someone to heal a character I've never met? Not really. Do I want to collect Y viper eggs for a crazy lady so she can make the world's largest fart? I... can't think of any objections to that, sure, I'll do it.
  • Different playstyles with different weapons, especially dual wielding and swapping around the main weapon, can be fun.
  • While there is level gating, it to me didn't seem nearly as forced as with Odyssey. There's always something non-grindy to do.
  • If you value your games as a function of things to do/unit cost, there's undoubtedly a lot to do here.
It's not all good though:
  • The combat feels like it lacks so much "weight". I really am not sure if I can describe this, but it's like you (and your enemies) are just doing animations which may remove some HP, but I don't think it feels great or good even, although the animations can be nice.
  • The world is huge, but it's also sparse. Is that more realistic, I guess, but when you're traversing vast expanses of fuck all for the umpteenth time it can get tiresome.
  • I'm still a sucker for a story, and...
...on to the story. I'll spoiler tag this, and everything below assumes you've pretty much gone through all of the main content.

So, I thought after completing the "Prophecy" arc there'd be some sort of closure. Well, there was that scene in the "present", but was that closure, no, so I continue the game. Ooh, there's still one area to go, so I'll clear that. And... nothing. But hey, there are still members of "The Order" that I haven't killed yet. Quite a few even, so this will take some grind. So I kill all of them. And then, "The Father" is revealed to be... just the person that I was assuming. It was like the most expected reveal ever. But hey, now I have a key to his private chambers, so I can... read a few scrolls. Fuck you game, fuck you. That's not a satisfying conclusion to the story, at all.

Yeah. So two thumbs down on the main story. Honestly I don't see why Ubisoft even bothers with the current timeline anymore, no one cares about it. But holy fuck. You really need to give something better to players willing to grind it out. That was insulting.

It seems I’ve been hit by a game breaking bug that won’t give me the final mission for the last member of the cult.

I know who it is and how it’s supposed to trigger but going off of the ubi forums seems theres hundreds of people with the same bug.

So thanks a fucking bunch ubi; you go and patch glitches for infinite silver or infinite ingots within 48 hours but this bug has been in since November.

Before anyone asks have I done x or have I done y, I’ve done everything.

nowhat nowhat your spoiler tag is what I can’t complete.

I just need someone to tell me that I am not crazy.

Early in the game, I found a document that essentially laid out where the Bureaus were located. At the time, I thought this would be useful information, but assumed the document would always be there. I can’t find it now!
I thought it was in the guild office. It isn’t there. Maybe it was there (in the shack) before I built the office?

I avoid spoilers and never look up things online. The Bureau locations seem obvious so far (I’m 95 hours into the game), but as I said, I just want to know that I am not crazy. Is this document still somewhere in the game?

I can understand why you can only buy one piece of the ingots at a time, but you should be able to buy an unlimited number of other resources like rations and arrows. It's a hassle to hop between different forts and settlements around the map in search for the arrows you need before a mission.
Another annoyance is how the game tends to focus on the closest enemy when using an ability: I don't want to waste a Dive of the Valkyries on a simple soldier when a brute is standing right besides him.
And there desperately needs to be a quick-switch for the bows, m'kay...

Great just need them to fix the fuck up with the last order member and I’ll be able to finish the game properly.

I finished the game. I didn't really enjoy it very much. It just felt way waaaaay longer than the last two. I don't know if it officially was, but it felt that way. I actually liked Eivor as a character, but I started skipping dialogue midway through and didn't look back and the game still took me like 100 hours. I can't imagine how many hours it would've been if I didn't skip all the dialogue. Liked the ending though, as I'm one of the few who likes the present day segments. I want to see how that part of the story plays out.

The game was far too big though, unnecessarily so and far too dense. This isn't The Witcher 3, it's Assassin's Creed. It's not a full-fledged RPG, but it straddles that line between one and it needs to pick a side.
