You are a registered Nintendo dev. OK.
Do you have a Switch 2 devkit ? NO.
So you don't have any other info.
I dont have one yet, but I know people who have one.

The leaks have made the architecture largely known to everybody. It's very similar to the Nvidia Tegra as I recall.
So why Ryujinx does not have any update now ? Why the developper has stopped any work on it ? Because they threaten him.
It's known. We have forks made by other developers but it kinda under the mantle. There is no update anymore.
And yet you claim Switch 2 will have an emulator within "the first or second year"
What is it now? Who is coding that mythical Switch 2 emu when Nintendo shuts those down?

I'll admit not a tech guy, but I'm basing this on the facts that PS2 and PS3 have very different, custom architecture, and that's why emulation for those are widly different and difficult.
So you admit it, and yet you make claims based on non existant knowledge of how emulation works?

On the other hand, PS4 and PS5 are X86, so pretty close in how games could potentially being ported to a PC.
That's maybe why Shad PS4 has seen a very good progress in a few months.
Those platforms had the same architecture as PC and yet they still took years to get emulated well! How can that be?

Now on the specs matter.
And lastly, the simple fact that all Nintendo Switch games are compatible (without being emulated) should tell you that they're very similar design wise. Xenoblade X even has a 60fps mode in its code, probably to run on Switch 2. A simple line of code.
See my point above - just because something is similar doesnt mean its easier to emulate!
It is simply wishful thinking that a Switch 2 emu will appear any time soon just so you can pirate games.

I'm still gonna choose Switch 2 over Steamdeck any day because I like Nintendo games.

For mutiplatform games I have my PS5, I dont need Steamdeck.

How many steam decks are there out there now ?

And will Nintendo pass that total, in 3 months ? By Xmas ?

Nothing against steam deck, but I think Nintendo just rung last orders in the portable space, even if the switch 2 doesn't explode. it will still replace the original switch and sell bucket loads

And I know this thread is about graphics, but to be honest. That's not an area Nintendo competes in (the switch 2 will set the bar I think, for the next gen of handhelds)

OP is also assuming we're not looking at bullshots (we are)

Nobody should buy a Steam Deck 1 right now, wait for Steam Deck 2 or buy Switch 2. You know anything else is bad advice.

Also there is safety in numbers. Never buy obscure low selling shit or you will run into all kinds of problems that are rarely mentioned online. There is safety in numbers. How many copies do you think the Steam Deck has sold?

The final reason is because the Steam Deck only has computer games which after often shitty afterthought ports or stutter-fests due to obscure graphical issues in the devs software engine, Nintendo has Nintendo games and really need no introduction. The choice is simple.

Also, Steam Deck is actually of course a replica of...guess what...

Damn in that cyberpunk comparisson the car turned into a man. The power of Nintendo.

outside of the Hogwarts one the images are in completely different scenarios making a comparisson kinda futile

Too early to say definitively, however it might well be that in select titles, the optimization done by the devs for Nintendos SKU will result in better visuals at least. However, the Deck 2 is just around the corner and will probably smoke the Switch 2 in terms of performance.

OP, are you trying to tell me that the SteamDeck is so poor quality that even the overlay doesn't render at a decent res? Or is the truth that you pulled some stills from YouTube footage and tried to pass them off as an accurate representation?

If you don't want to be seen as entirely disingenuous or a console war troll I suggest that you find more accurate representations of SD. Source stills or videos. And even then be aware of the bullshot possibility on the NS2 side.

Its P pulicat

What are you expecting? He is panicking after Switch 2 disaster reveal!

$90 MK?
A mouse?
A flock of barely improved Switch 1 games at an added cost.

Be nice to him

All images were screencapped from YouTube videos, Steam Deck images were sharpened in Photoshop since the IQ of those images was mostly sub-800p.

careful OP!

Better spend $550 (USD) for the oled deck which also supports HDR!
and get 800p, 90hz display without any VRR

(joking aside - target demographics for both are different. there is some overlap as they are handhelds but its a small, small percentage. Steam deck still hasn't caught up to the PS Vita in terms of hardware sales and Switch is a more mass market product. Switch 2 fares pretty nicely all things considered)

Because devs can still develops it as long as they don't make noise about it. Then release it and after that get and C&D from Nintendo. The emulator will still be out on the internet. Are you new to this stuff or what ?

Maybe, just MAYBE, because PS4 was too powerful of a system to be emulated correctly until very recently by CPUs ? Are you sure you're even a developer ? You seem completely ignorant on the matter. You know that software emulation requires much more power than the emulated system originally has ?

See my point above - just because something is similar doesnt mean its easier to emulate!

How weird that you have no argument on the specs part...
The more I'm talking to you the more you seem full of shit.

Guys, I get it if you are a hardcore Nintendo fan, but at least be honest and don't put things such as "games optimized for the platform", "portability", etc. PC handhelds - Steam Deck, ROG Ally X, Lenovo Legion - do all this and much better:

1. They allow to tweak the graphics settings and framerate if you want to prioritise graphics / fps / battery life, something you cannot do on the Switch and Switch 2
2. You are guaranteed endless backwards compatibility, older games will cost you nothing to "upgrade" and will play better as components get upgraded
3. Steam CD-Keys cost pennies compared even to Steam Sales ; handhelds running Windows give you the ability to subscribe to Game Pass
4. No paid online, duh

1. I don't want to bother having to configure shit, I pay so the games should run properly and I shouldn't have to finish the developers' job.
2. Is someone going to come and upgrade the components inside my PC brick ? Because otherwise nothing is going to happen unless I buy a new one. So same situation as a console.
3. I buy physical games, that actually have the game on the support. How do I do this with your PC brick ?
4. I don't play online.

- Windows in handhelds is what the USA used in Guantanamo.

- Who tf want to tweak the graphics in a game?

- If you have endless backwards compatibility go play Warhammer: Dark Omen in your Deck.

- Free online and sales? Not my problem if you're a peasant but then don't come complaining about a bad port that cost you pennies.

*Nintendo launches the switch
*PC handhelds releases using the same form factor
*Nintendo: wait, we can charge that much more???

I would have skipped the Switch 2, but my Switch is dying and I need access to my library (XC1,2,3,X). If Nintendo did the retarded thing like Sony/MS and released their games on Steam, I would not even think about purchasing the Switch 2.

I've literally seen my brother today struggle the entire afternoon because a game on his Steam Deck decided to not start anymore without any understandable reason, typical PC gaming shit lol

Also, this thing used full power last like 1hr of battery life or less, so you are going to play games in portable at lower setting anyway.

I'm not saying Steam Deck is not an awesome piece of hardware, but it really have lot of problems too and is not comparable to take a console and play for people that have no time or energy to deal with all the PC shit.

Yeah, it's always the most random shit with Steam Deck. Tried playing Fallout 3 and it would crash constantly. Eventually said fuck it and played the game on my Xbox. Now I'm in one of my "fuck PC gaming" moods.
