The Cockatrice

I'm retarded?
So besides a meh AC game, all mobile shit and a DOA skull and bones. No mention of the SC/PoP/BG&E2. Got it, also prolly dead/canned as well. Fuck Ubisoft. I truly hope people there start looking for better opportunities, where their talents can be used for actual games.

Let's ignore the console with approx. 120M in sales and wonder aloud why we're struggling.
They did release Mario Rabbids and it underperformed. Not sure what games they could port. I am betting AC and Avatar will be beasts like most of their games and not something that would run well on Switch. The real issue here is most of the projects are mobil or F2p trash. The single player games probably will do well if they don't suck. They haven't had a big multiplatform game since Far Cry 6. I think Avatar was planned to launch near the movie but got delayed so they missed the revenue last year, and a lot of the hype too.

I didn't want to take time to edit down your post, but re-releasing the Splinter Cell games with a fresh coat of paint would cost little, and yield high dividends.

EDIT- Hell, Prince of Persia, too.

Wait, Jade is mobile!? Ugh, I was looking forward to a proper AC game in ancient China. :messenger_weary:

Yeah it makes no sense. Just like they did a classic India setting, which has huge potential for a beautiful world, and then made it a fucking sidescroller.

Huge potential squandered on a mobile game. I just don't get it.

I thought Division 2 was a pretty good loot shooter, and I think a lot of people are discovering it now that it's on PS Plus. Because of that, I'm definitely looking forward to a free to play sequel of sorts. I hope they do a good job with it.

xDefiant has a decent opportunity as well, with as poorly as Overwatch 2 and COD multiplayer handled their offerings last year.

Wow, they really like Luna. I imagine Stadia closing is the real reason Ubi is struggling.

Only slightly interested in Mirage, no AC I have played was ever as good as any PoP, but that could at least be one that is not drowned in boring tasks and a huge time waste map.

Motorfest? To confuse it with wreckfest? The Crew is not really super great as a name but at least some people know now what it is. Or is it some sort of spin-off and no one should expect Crew3 gameplay in it?

I guess Avatar should have launched together with the movie and they missed the schedule by a mile. King Kong wasn't bad at all, so Ubi did decent work with licensed IPs in the past.

While mobile gaming is not for me, I definitely get why they want to tap into that lucrative market. And who knows, they might actually be decend. Going to wait and see on those. Mobile is that weird platform that gets constant shit on gaming sites yet constantly overperforms over those expectations.

F2P is more of a red flag to me. Still, has a chance for success. I'm fairly certain there's still a market for this if they can pull it off.

S&B just seems ready to die if it gets a release at all.

AC and Avatar are the likely hits of the bunch. Project Orland is a possible sleeper hit and is one I'm interested in the most.

Overall imo it's not a bad list that shows some promise. Just hope they don't fuck it up.

Mobile overperforms because the only thing those games are good at is hooking whales and squeezing money out of them

I don't think that's the only factor. CoD did well on mobile right? Genshin Impact is also a good game. How they get monetized is definitely a good coversation to have, but there's also really well done games there with an appetite for them on that platform. No mattter what dev put out there's always, always going to be that knee-jerk "ugh, mobile" from people around here including me.

Even the one or two good ones are stuffed with that shit. People have sunk their pensions into Genshin.

Ok well thanks for the support Ubi. All switch owners. I bought the first Rabbid and Mario game. Might get the second. But. Yeah Ubi is the New EA. Or the European version of EA.

EasyAllies nailed it last week in regard to Ubisoft. Their games just have this formula and feel and it’s literally in ALL of their games and people are just sick of it.

Ubisoft could collapse tomorrow, I wouldn't even notice and would be mildly surprised when I read about it in 2 years in one of those "Remember Ubisoft?" threads.

Discussing Ubisoft's recent slew of game cancelations, Guillemot said that the decision was "really helping all the other games that are progression well." In other words, the resources Ubisoft has shifted from its canceled games are improving the development of other titles.

As a result, Ubisoft is planning to launch "a lot of games" in the next financial year, which will run from April 2023 through March 2024. Guillemot also says that Ubisoft now has the "right number of games," implying that the company was perhaps pushing beyond a stable number of projects in 2022 and prior. However, he also says somewhat contradictorily that the canceled games will simply "make space for other games" within Ubisoft.

I was excited for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, but being cross-gen, not anymore! I don’t know if they already announced it as such, or this is the first time revealing it, but I’m not interested in cross-gen BS anymore!

I don’t care how good the game is, I spent $500 on a PS5 to play PS5 games! THREE YEARS and we still getting this cross- gen trash but at $70! The nerves of these companies charging 10 dollars more for the same game (but 60fps!) BS!

It’s fine for party games and sport games to continue being cross-gen, but so-called AAA? Not at all! At this rate, we will still be getting PS4 games when the PS6 launches!

There was so much talk about SSDs, 10+ TF!, Ray-Tracing! And still nothing!

Reminds me of how many PS3 games at first still got games with 2-4GB when blu-ray could hold 25GB.

So in reality they have 2 games this year, and 1 one next gen only (that was delayed more times that I remember)

Kind of weird that nothing has leaked about how Avatar is going. They've been out in public enough about it with the company line, but otherwise it's an unusually tight ship for a Ubisoft project, especially after the setback of delays.

You mean the console where 75% of software sales is first party and has poor options for post purchase monetization?
Yeah, let's also ignore the positive results 3rd parties have reported for sales on the Switch console. Morons fail to realize Nintendo garnering good software sales does not negate positive sales of their own; a rising tide lifts all boats.
