God damn I didn't budget this in this month... fuck it, this thing is absolutely sublime. By far my favorite of the franchise, this includes both the OVA and Movie editions, both include additional scenes... for some reason the movie cuts out one of the best combat scenes in the entire of macross from the start but adds additional context scenes throughout, happy to have both versions on Blu-ray.



I fell in love with Sharon Apple as a kid, top tier Waifu who does nothing wrong and just wants to be loved.

Wow, what were the odds? Me watching the anime that happens to be your all-time favorite.

I watched episode 17 and holy shit.

The elevator scene was so intense and shocking. And the buildup to it was so good, with these short scenes before that establish the upcoming fallout between Brandon and Harry. Heck, the scene where Harry listens to Brando talk to Big Daddy was so poignant. There is a Guts/Griffith parallel here, with some big differences. Harry wanted Brandon to stay with him, he genuinely cared about him as his bro, but he found himself in a situation where he has no choice but to confront him. Both of them consider the other to have betrayed him, and both of their perspectives are understandable. And after that, Harry still feels guilty about what he did and has a breakdown about. That was really, really good writing.
The transition from realistic setting to fantasy/sci/fi is something rarely seen in fiction, it's another thing that Gungrave has in common with Berserk.

This season of Demon Slayer is pretty slow. I appreciate it for what it is, and I'm sure it will have a purpose, but it is definitely slow compared to previous seasons. Only 8 episodes also.

Only the 1 hour finale left. The last episode looks promising though.

Reading Tenkaichi, another one of them tournament series that's a popular-ish format like Record of Ragnarok. Has the white boy from Nioh and Yasuke in it. It's perfect trashy fun.

Dropped off Record of Ragnarok during Hades fighting that Chinese dude and there's like 3 fights after that now? Might go back.

Key has announced a TV anime adaptation of their visual novel game Summer Pockets.



Synopsis:
Summer Pockets is set on an isolated, rural, and peaceful island on the Seto Inland Sea called Torishirojima, which has a population of about 2,000 people. The protagonist, Hairi Takahara, grew up in an urban setting, but after an unpleasant incident, he uses the recent death of his grandmother as an excuse to come to the island to take care of her estate sale.
Once there, he gets to know four girls, who are the focus of the story: Shiroha Naruse, who forgot her summer vacation; Ao Sorakado, who is pursuing the legends of the island; Kamome Kushima, a high-class girl looking for a pirate ship; and Tsumugi Wenders, a younger girl trying to find herself.

There are some mysteries on going that slowly unravel as you complete more routes. Each route gives you hints and views of the island and its community without showing the full picture. The core, as with any KEY story, is the emotional connection they manage to build between you and the other characters. You end up deeply caring about these characters and when good things happen to them, you cheer, when sad things happen, you cry.

Just watched I Parry Everything and Wistoria. The adaptation of Parry is pretty good. Wistoria also have superb art and animation, I hope they can keep the quality until the end.

Just found out there's a new Kinnikimam. I wonder if it will be any good.

I loved the show as a kid but haven't really kept up with any new content in the franchise for the last like ...20+ years lol

Given the comment and the timing of the removal my honest thought is this is just an excuse and they wanted to remove comments since their use of AI subtitles got called out. They have stated that its the partners doing it, but they are accepting them from the partners and other countries streaming networks have human created subtitles for the same shows, it's just crunchyroll accepting them.

Naturally I find it more likely that the heavy discussion on the shows using AI this season is the reason for this removal vs the fronted reason, they where just looking for an excuse, they can moderate stuff like the above, they can't with with the AI without looking bad, so Full comment removal makes sense in this context.

I mentioned Ubel Blatt getting an adaptation a while ago. looks like they have a trailer out now and is releasing in Jan of 25. so far the trailer looks good and captures the vibe of the manga, so I'm definitely keeping an eye on this.
