Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake Will Be More Than a Visual Upgrade, New Systems Mentioned

I can tolerate the newer games to some extent but I agree it starts to get kind of silly... I remember in AC2 and Brotherhood and Revelations, there was a mystery surrounding the Isu and the ancient relics... forward to Odyssey and Valhalla, we get full cosplay gods like Hermes and Thor. It was be almost laughable to consider those back in 2010 or whatever during the days I used to play the Ezio trilogy.
Played Odyssey only last year for the first time....couldnt stand to run around like some random "greek guy" and basically went the whole game with the Altair armor :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Ac 2
Ac origins
Ac unity

This my list in this order.

All the others meh.

Black flag was good but too repetitive.

Ac2 was the real deal and the ending surprised me plus all the conspiracy theories and such.

BUt here we are again. We reached a new low when we have 10 plus annual entries in this serier and now we go back to remake them one by one?
No new ip?

All these super educated people with absolute zero creativity. Zero vision. Zero ideas.

I could come up with all new ideas for games in a second and i know people would love it.

Lets make a thread where everyone can post one game they would make . Story mechanics, world etc. Maybe some lazy shit dev will look at it and make something out of it

Well, Shadows would be the new IP in March. Made by the AC Odyssey crew.

This Remake is coming mostly likely early ‘26 much further out. So whatever we see introduced (or reintroduced) in Shadows will probably appear in AC4.

  • The release of the Black Flag remake could be as early as November 2025, pending an official announcement after Assassin's Creed Shadows is released.
High speed mode to get it out before the payroll account runs dry.

My only problem here is that we ain't talking about old Ubisoft, but the new modern one.
Then I expect those changes to be very questionable, meaning they gonna end up being bad.

I remember loving 1,2 and brotherhood and that's it.
I disliked 3 and I disliked black flag.. all I remember about it are trailing missions, bloat and tutorials 20 hours in....
Maybe I should play some of the later games. I have origins
Origins is legit fucking cool, some pretty surreal moments in that game. Love the Egypt setting and Bayek was the best Protagonist since Ezio.

Why remake this game, when they could make another spin-off like Rogue. If anything, I rather they do Black Flag 2: Revelations or something

All these games need an update. If one game needs a port is the first one, which isn’t available. If they want to update that one with QoL, go ahead. Unity could use a 4K, 60fps update. But all this remake nonsense… why? It’s a waste of time. Not all games deserve a remake. And Black Flag is at least available in modern consoles.

Visually this game still holds up so well, the only change is it needs are the main missions, which are like 50% tailing missions, it doesn’t need a remake. I’m expecting Edward to be Edwardina, and Blackbeard to be the bearded lady or some other nonsense.

I fucking love the Caribbean setting in this but as someone who checked out with ACIII already, how "modern open world quantity over quality" is this one? I just wanna give it a chance because of the setting.

Do you really trust modern Ubisoft to come up with a good story.

I was almost comatose after an hour of Mirage.

Thats my biggest gripe with Ubi (beside the greedy/launcher stuff around their games). They cant do stories at all. Its all dull and bland. You open the map and you basically know the whole story. Kill these 20 mini bosses and than finally kill the big boss. The End! :messenger_grinning_smiling:

How else are they supposed to improve on their bigoted history?

A wheelchair based assassin will truly reflect the modern audience just as soon as they work out what to do with the parkour and swimming.

Love the og game, but I'm not really interested in the remake. The original still holds up (played it for the first time on PS4) and I was only annoyed with the constant tailing missions.

I always keep saying they should make Black Flag 2, preferably without the AC brand attached to it so it becomes a proper pirate game.

Absolutely. But i can remember that lots of players always wanted BlackFlag2 with multiplayer....and Ubi came up than with Skull & Bones. :pie_neutral:

Black Flag had an awesome ending, Blackbeards epic speech as hes shot and stabbed repeatedly.

The ending of Black Flag happens halfway through assassin's creed 4 which is a problem.

When did you play it? I could see it perhaps not aging that well. I haven't played it since launch.

But I dunno, I found the naval combat extremely satisfying. Culminating with taking on the legendary ships at the end, which were actually very difficult to take down, even with a fully upgraded ship.
Around launch and never went back to it after finishing it. I really didn’t like it at all.

I remember loving 1,2 and brotherhood and that's it.

You absolutely have to play it then, no excuses. Origins is amazing even today, I’m just replaying it now actually after spending about 200 hours on the main game + dlcs back in the day. Egypt is breathtaking and it has the mystery of the first games. That game is a legit labor of love.

Really? What makes you say that I'm actually curious
Well, first of all it almost had nothing to do with the franchise, meaning it was not really about assassins but it was a pirate game shoehorned into the franchise. Which is not a big problem in itself but it was really boring. Like others mentioned all I can remember is infinite tailing missions both on foot and on ship. The ship combat was boring after the first couple ones. You did the same thing for hours and hours. No interesting locations (which is kinda subjective, I know), no memorable moments, dislikable main character. I liked Altair and Connor a lot more because they were interesting, Edward was just the typical hollywood/marvel type witty guy every movie features and I was tired of that type of character then and I am tired now. One of those was enough (Ezio). And the game also felt like a big dlc to AC3 with a worse setting and not a real sequel (like Unity).

GRAW, Rainbow 6 Vegas, Assassins Creed 1.
I remember the days of rushing out to buy every Ubisoft game day 1. Reviews or not, you knew you were in for some peak gaming.
Nowadays 🤷‍♂️
