Assassin's Creed Shadows Preview (Hands on) and Description

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
Looks fantastic, day 1. Hopefully its less bloated than previous entries.

Karak Karak thoughts on the bloat? As bad as previous enteries?

Karak Karak does the combat feels more like origins, odissey or valhalla? (Similar but not quite the same).
Maybe Oddessey I guess. But overall it feels like a mix between something older like Syndicate(fast with one character) and maybe oddessey due to the samurai. They are notably different feeling in combat. But I will say it was far more reactive than I expected. Block cancel, dashblocks, dodge parkour, all felt better. Probably not to unitys level but better than the prior ones

Only watched a couple of minutes from a couple of different previews but the game doesn't look too hot unfortunately.

Graphic still look crossgen-y with meh models, animations are improved but still not state of the art, combat look very similar to latest entries so ok at the very best and the art design is not as striking as tsushima, also, a samurai game without decent gore, dynamic wound marks etc., again...
Also, i have nothing against yousucke but the double protagonist with different strenghts in an ac game that has always been about going fluidly between combat and stealth is some bullshit that i still don't accept.

I wanted to like the game but i don't know...

The ray-traced reflections are looking fantastic in the livestream (even despite it being 1080p).

The asian swordman thing is a little overused for my taste lately. Looks solid, but i doubt this will be a turning point for Ubisoft.

I was more talking about the feeling of hitting enemies\how they die.

Origins was more heavy with kinda realistic ragdoll, odissey was more arcadey with exagerated ragdoll and valhalla was slower and heavier with small automated finishers after every kill and precanned death animations even when you send enemies flying in the air (ragdoll turned on only after the dead animation finished and the enemies were already on the ground).

I know, small details but i care about this shit :lollipop_squinting:

NPCs standing there doing nothing is so immersive.

Even if this game is a 8.5/10 (non-IGN scale), would it really save Ubisoft. At this point a 10/10 will not be enough.

It's not just the visuals (which are horrible). Just take a look at each individual AI character and watch what they're doing. It's fucking hilarious.
Yep, if we didn’t know the game and were told this is Ubi title from 10 years back it would be very believable.

I don’t understand how after all this dev time and money spent, this is the best Ubisoft can output. It’s downright puzzling. I guess those rumors of most devs being juniors are true.

I had to stop ACG review at around 7 minutes.
Things like going prone and extinguishing lights...stuff thats been in 20 years old stealth games ...This is the next gen AC? Seriously Thats all they can do? Are ppl excited for this ?

It’s nice to see gameplay ideas that haven’t been used in the last twenty years, return.

Sounds like they should’ve just went with the Shinobi girl though.

I watching Skill Up video and I'm shocking how bad this is.

Is astonishing bad. Yasuke can kill anyone, including inocent people, no guards come after him or not even the game tell to stop. There is no 'bounty' mechanics, no guards to protect civil. You can keep killing without any problem.

I kinda wonder if this have anything to do with police vs black people premisse. Is unbelievable bad.

Not only that, but he is like a super human. He put much force in their katana slash, his charge attack can even break rocks.

IDK if this game is a satire or not.

Mine for ACG
Seriously almost strangely impressed as shit. Especially as I have had so many issues with the prior games in this trilogy and some of what they have done.

I usually agree with your opinions but this time I guess I'll value your review in terms of our tastes being complete opposites, not only Odyssey is my least favourite AC game, it is also one of my most loathed RPGs I've ever played...
If Shadows is more in line with Odyssey then if I was already not interested in playing, now I'll probably avoid it completely until I can get it for less than 10$

And to think that around the AC2-3 era playing an AC game set in Japan was one of my biggest wishes...

Happens for sure. Especially with these newest series.

my God, Ronin combat looks way better than this and Ronin is basically a PS3 game, what disgrace

Tbf, who made the gif didn't played the game for 100 hours nor does it have a fully upgraded character (and it's probably nowhere as skilled), but you have a point.

Ronin had pretty good combat.

Holy shit the SkillUp video, wtf at Yasuke's limitations.

What the hell was Ubi thinking?

Edit: omg that scouting system, what a wasted opportunity.
edit2: lol at being able to just kill random npc's with zero consequences. No guards, no wanted system, nothing.

yeah i know, Ronin gameplay is basically Nioh gameplay, that is amazing

How Ronin is not out on PC amazes me, companies really like to lose money
