The other people called you a troll, because you felt the need to unnecessarily point out the obvious and this makes you look like you want to downplay the game. Imagine you win a gold medal and someone says "Gratulations, but with the injured X and the retired Y you wouldn't have won". You want to hear that? In my country we call that poisoned praise.
You keep saying that the things I'm saying are "obvious" to everyone but I can tell you from my experience in the Astro Bot review thread - they are not obvious to anyone lol.
I'm not trying to downplay AstroBot, it looks like a great game, just as the previous games were.
I'm moreso just trying to point out a (what I believed to be pretty obvious) trend in review scores this gen. I don't think it's a good trend but like I said, it's a side-effect of the current climate.
It's not just affecting Sony either, it's affecting all "good" games. It's why Elden Ring with its 96 metascore
towers over anything FromSoft has ever made, including their magnum opus darling BloodBorne with its relatively paltry 92 metascore.
It's why TOTK somehow managed to get a nearly identical metascore as BOTW, despite being a rehashed, iterative-as-fuck sequel without the same level of the freshness, newness and originality that BOTW had.
Gaming is so down-bad the last 5 years (as is everything else) that when something halfway good does come along, it hits like absolute fucking
crack to these review outlets.
If Batman Arkham Knight came out today, it would get a 90 or 91 metascore e a s i l y.
In 2015 though? Prime PS4 era with amazing games releasing nearly every month? Meh, 87.
