ASTRO BOT - Launch Trailer (September 6th)

AV

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
Jesus, that crept up quickly.

Got a half day of bonus holiday time left to take and it's my birthday that weekend so I'm gonna get a pizza and some beers in and smash this. Can't wait.

I feel like I'm going crazy when I see this thing.

It's just a robot sackboy, a knack without spikes. It's the same generic nothing blob thing 3 times now, but suddenly this version is supposedly charming and fun and cool and great and not a rip off of that recent Kirby game. And it deserves 10/10's and will cover all of Sony's recent Gaas failings by being the Mario killer and selling millions.

I hope people are correct but I'm not seeing it.

How can it even be a rip-off of a 2022 Kirby game when it's an expanded sequel of two 2018 and 2020 games? Bolded doesn't even make sense, it's not exactly similar to either game outside of simply being a 3D platformer.
You're entitled to your opinion, but this is trying way too hard to have any contrarian take.

Man this and space marine early access the same day... maybe il make an Astrobot themed chapter once I have the colours unlocked.

Got both ready to go. Have they released the 4th bot yet on playroom? I got the first 3, and they come along with you at the start of the game apprently.

The Kirby game you mention is literally newer than the Astrobot that's included in every PS5 released.

And "suddenly this version is supposedly charming and fun"? No...the other ones were as well and the VR game was a GOTY contender for a lot of people back then.

About Sony "recent Gaas failings"? I can only count Concord. Anything else?

Mario killer? You're the first person to bring up Mario here on this topic.

Are you okay? Nothing makes sense about your post.

LittleBigPlanet and Knack reached acceptable mediocrity and called it a day. Astro Bot is a game by a team which is aiming for Nintendo's level and doing their damndest to reach it. Rescue Mission is one of the most energetic, innovative, surprise-laden 3D platformers ever made.

Because the flying into and out of levels looks just like the new Glider power from that game. If it featured in the 2018 and 2020 games then fair enough. I've not played them but it still wouldn't change it looking like Sackboy to me.

I nominate this for one of the worst takes of 2024. I hope you’re drunk or high.

This makes 0 sense.

Astrobot Rescue Mission and Astro's Playroom came before the recent Kirby game. Besides, Astrobot plays nothing like Kirby

The franchise has always been great. Playsroom is still one of the best PS5 exclusives and Rescue Mission is one of the greatest platformers ever made.

Dude your setting yourself up for this one...

The rest where cancelled and never released outside of Concord &...

You can point to helldivers, but that's certainly an exception. Sony invested a shit ton into GaaS as the next big thing for them and has been essentially failing or walking it back for a year now, it's why they bought Bungie, and that's not going great either.

The rest of your points are valid though. But don't go trying to GaaSlight us on this one though.

I don't give a fuck about astro, but i think people are liking literally everything about the game, not just the protagonist.

The locations, the variety, the sony brands used as characters, the clean graphic, the physics effects, the bosses, etc.

I rarely see anyone talking about how genius the astro design is to justify why they like the game.

Apart from TLOU online what else was canceled? Bringing up Destruction All Stars is fair game (except the fact that user mentioned "recent failures" which this isn't) but why bringing up games not yet released like the Haven game?

And Helldivers 2 is an exception? How do we explain MLB, Gran Turismo7, etc? Also exceptions?

This is what subtle jabs at minimizing other franchises out of insecurity look like. Are you a Nintendo fan bro?

Anyways, this is GOTY already. I don't even have a PS5 and I'm buying this.

Not really bro, I criticized Mario wonder on here. While I've praised a couple of PC games. I like what I like, not the totality of a brand's output.

You'll not be able to play this particular game if you don't have a PS5 so it's unwise to purchase it.

There's comments like that all over the net. Even youtube videos on it. If you meant here in this thread then no, no one had said it in the 14 posts before mine.

You are really reaching here.
If it's a common thing in 3d platformers then I'll admit to being mistaken, but I saw it in that recent Kirby and then here but not in games before that. If it does feature in the previous Astro bot games then feel free to mock and deride my lack of knowledge on Astro bot

Watching this trailer on my OLED monitor, and this game just looks remarkable on there.

Good thing I got my preorder on this. September is gonna be world platforming month with Astro Bot and Plucky Squire both coming out.

The game takes place in outer space where Astro has to fly down into planets to play the levels. The devs are not copying a damn Kirby game. How else is he supposed to fly around in space? 😂

But isn't the flying in Kirby Forgotten Land just a cutscene/transition? The flying controller in Astrobot is actually a gameplay mechanic.
