I disagree, I found them really fun and after you die you immediately respawn which makes retrying very smooth.

Some of the Kirby Forgotten Land challenges way more annoying…..you could be doing perfect run but if you missed the target time even by one digit you have to redo it again.
Eh..
Glad i didnt try that title

Playing this game just makes me want more of it. Not many games can do that. I want more levels where I can run around as a little mouse. Or maybe ride a sea turtle in race type level. Only negative I really have are the generic enemies. A few of the new ones are nice though.

Guys I'm reading the latest Edge Magazine and they gave ASTRO BOT a deserved 10/10
This Game will reach 95+ on Metacritic, probably even 96 at this point

Awesome. Edge has....interesting scores to say the least and I disagree with a large number of them, but glad they gave this one the credit it deserves.

Some tidbits mention that it could be mistaken for an actual new Mario game with minor adjustments, they say that favorably tho, as people know, Edge are huge Nintendo Fanboys. This is very high praise from them. They also acknowledge that it's clearly inspired by Nintendo's platformer, but to say it's just a copy is a huge disservice for what ASTRO BOT has accomplished with it's gameplay and insanely creative level design. They also want ASTRO BOT to stop relying on PlayStation iconography in future sequels, as they say this is one of PlayStation best Mascots and deserves his own lore in games. Favorable comparison to Mario 64, Odyssey and especially Galaxy.

Other notable scores if anyone is interested
Zelda Echoes of Wisdom 9/10, almost as creative as BOTW/TOTK

Warhammer Space Marine 2, 6/10 which I think most won't agree on. This Edge issue has like 3 other 9/10 which is one of it's most positive issues actually

Edge 10 will make it increase 10+ positions easily. Edge has like the highest weight on Metacritic. 95 is guaranteed at this point

Going from 94 to 95 with a single 10 is much harder than dropping from 94 to 93 with a 7

Astro has to surpass 7 other games above it to reach 95 I’m 50/50 on it being done

We'll see, but Edge 10 for Dreams for example, catapulted the Game 20+ positions, and that with single 10/10 by Edge

It's funny that Mario games have used cross references to other Nintendo properties for years and has been a vehicle for pushing Nintendo IP, but somehow Sony needs to stop?

I disagree completely. Some of the best levels in Astro Bot are levels designed around PlayStation characters and franchises and I think that should continue to be a theme. We didn't get levels for some really big franchises like Gran Turismo or TLOU or smaller franchises like ICO or SOTC or 3rd party like FF7 (yes I know) Resident Evil, or Tomb Raider.

Beat the main game last week or so. It's definitely up there as far as goty candidates go. Lately I've been just trying to collect even more bots and puzzle pieces.

Eh, I actually agree with them. To me the main draw is the gameplay and level design. If they keep relying on other IPs it might limit the creativity in what they can do about level design. I wouldn't mind if ASTRO BOT keeps building it's own Lore actually. Mario Games are more story/Lore focused and it's saying something. We don't even know what most enemies are called in Astro Bot( you would only know if you don't skip the Credits but nobody got time for that) Even LBP has established Lore on Craftworld and that's a UGC game first. A little bit of dialogue (text only of course) and world build up wouldn't hurt.

It's the exact opposite. The level design for those PlayStation levels and the gameplay was the most creative out of all the levels. Pretty sure we have consensus on that. The only one that comes close is the mouse level.

How much dialogue and text were in the original Mario games? Literally, "Sorry but the princess is in another castle." You didn't need dialogue and you barely needed text.

For me the only actually good hero levels were god of war, uncharted and Ape escape. Despite that, none came close to the casino, luna solar, Downsize Surprise, trunk of funk, hieroglitch pyramids, bathroom bath, bubbling under or cannon brawl imo, at least in terms of gameplay mechanics the levels had. Also the levels were good mostly for novelty. The Loco Roco Level at least showed how unexpectedly creative they can go with level design and gameplay mechanics, so it would be a shame to limit to other series themes only.

Mario has established great lore over the decades, from mushroom kingdom to, Dinosaur Land(or was it world?) to Flower kingdom recently etc, with many iconic characters/critters/support characters etc. I would want the same build up for ASTRO BOT
