I'm currently playing through Starcraft 2 and I can just launch it through battle.net, without needing to open the Xbox app.

Not going to be the last one. We know from the FCC leaks that Microsoft sees Battle.net as the major avenue of increasing their PC footprint. Wouldn't be surprised if it's the "Microsoft Launcher" in a few years with Minecraft etc on it.
