Balatro looks really impressive

Balatro looks really impressive. I’ve heard a lot about it before, but I personally prefer action roguelikes like Hades, Bioweaver, and Darkchaser, so I haven't paid much attention to it. I didn't expect it to get so many TGA nominations; it seems I have to give it a try now.

Haven't played in a while but is there any good methods / preferred deck (depending on updates) for farming Gold Stickers on all the cards?

Stay away from it or you risk loosing a lot of hours. Genius design.
The best part is that it's just the guy throwing ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Dude also has good morals, casinos were trying to convince him to turn it into real money with him getting a cut and he literally has it controlled legally the even after he dies it'll be something like 100 years before they can do anything.

Buy it, seriously, it's my goty short of stalker 2 blowing it out the water

Nothing in the game attract me, it would be like trying flight simulator even if i despise simulations or everything flight simulator does.

Maybe if i can catch it in super discount on android, maybe...
Sure as hell not at full price.

Definitely one of the best games I’ve played this year. Very fun, addictive and well designed game. Simple to understand and play with huge amounts of depth for those that want to dig deeper.

Can always try the demo

I'm doing it on Ghost, because the hex card let's you turn some of the garbage non-scoring cards into at least a free 1.5x mult.

Weird niche card game that will be forgotten mere months from now.

Laughable that is in the running for GOTY over dragon's dogma 2 or silent hill 2
Bet someone said this back in 2017 when Slay of Spire released.

Reality is people will be more playing and talking about this game in 5 years than people playing or talking about DD2 or almost every AAA game released this year.

Gotta say i liked it, but it's a step behind Brotato and Slay the Spire for me, these two are pure drugs.

I've watched (quite) a few gameplay videos on Youtube channels, and most of those youtubers seemed to have fun and do lengthy playlists for it -- maybe it was because it was the popular game of the month and they wanted to stay relevant, or maybe it was both.

It's not for me though. I can sort of see how it could become addictive, but it has had no such effect on me.

I can't remember being hooked by any indie game released this last year. I did play a bit some of the expansions for Vampire Survivors and I'm sort of curious about the upcoming Binding of Isaac update, but I think that has been it.

I don't hear a single person bringing up Slay the Spire, ever. Anywhere.

And it was even a free game one of the months on PSN too.

I already own it on Steam

Im talking about if you want to know if the game is for you or nah

After that, buy it if you enjoy it for sure

Or you can just buy it on steam and then refund it if you don't like it. That's the far more simple and logical approach.

You won't see it mentioned on the game list wars or graphic wars but there's more people playing games like that one than 95% of the AAA's released during late 2010s.
Slay the Spire is still hugely popular and influential. It has 11k people playing it right now on Steam. 10x more than Horizon Forbidden West.
Minesweeper must be the greatest game of all time by this framework of thought.

Casual, massively played games that have no part of any cultural zeitgeist in the gaming sphere.

I guess Balatro is somewhat unique in this regard since it made it on a Goty nominee list but it's certainly not a favorite to win and you won't hear it ever brought up again whether it does or doesn't.

Whether you like them or not is irrelevant. Slay the Spire basically spawned a genre which is constantly getting new games. It’s very popular and has a huge mod scene. Watch how big Slay the Spire 2 is next year.

Oh I didn't say anything about whether I like it or not, and I'd certainly be willing to try it for the right price (free).

I've played more hours of Uno than any video game I've ever played in my life for example.

I just think Balatro is a laughable, hipster pick in the GOTY category.

Because it's legal.

So that makes it morally less wrong or?

What's the actual difference in testing a 'demo' to see if you enjoy it, and you end up purchasing the game on Steam

Compared to buying a game, testing to see if you like it, and if you don't, you refund it.

I honestly do not see a single difference.
