Well Zelda games don't see all that good in Japan if Im correct? I think TWW topped at 400-600k? TP should beat that considering there isn't much coming out for Wii until God knows when.

Discussing (and reading) game sales in GAF sales threads brain damaging confirmed. Especially true for 3rd party sales. >_>

Quick recap...

-2 days sales only
-The latest Zelda -console- game, sold around 700k units in Japan on a consoole with a bigger userbase and in over 3 years.
-The latest Zelda game was for the GBA, with an even bigger userbase and sold even less than that.

So, as of right now..Zelda is doing..just as every other Zelda game in Japan..better, considering that is the first Zelda game to be available at launch of a new system...no biggie.

Historical Look at home Zelda First-week sales:
Code:
Nov. 1991 - Zelda: Gods of The Triforce 223,000 (13,112=raw)
Nov. 1998 - Zelda: Ocarina of Time 386,234
Apr. 2000 - Zelda: Mask of Majura 314,414
Dec. 2002 - Zelda: Tact of Wind 287,346
Dec. 2006 - Zelda: Twilight Princess 145,068
Has the series peaked or is it too early to say?

Edit: On second thought, NM, I think this topic has been discussed thoroughly enough but I hope yall enjoy the sales figures.:)

Here we have a textbook example of reading incomprehension as caused by brain damage. The GAF poster is clearly unaware of his textual surroundings and is blissfully making inappropriate comparisons without having come to grips with basic reasoning skills or even grade-school level mathematics (2 days != 1 week).

Sightings like this are increasingly common, however the reason for this is tragic. The GAF poster's natural habitat is fast becoming corrupted by stupidity, driving these ordinarily gentle creatures to become quite feral and vicious. Therefore we may observe him only so long as we maintain a safe distance.

nice data. now how about putting down the hardware #'s for those time periods that those games came out. oh wait.

That ain't the problem here, bub. We've already gone over the fact that most 1st week sales cover only 3 days (since most games are released middle of the week), so 2 days, 3 days, what difference does it make.

Good job with leaving out installed user base.

You've proven to be really good at this thing.

Obviously Zelda TP will keep selling in the immediate future. I beleive it is going to have better legs than the last couple of Zeldas. There are quite a few people in Japan that still can't find a Wii that will buy Zelda. Plus it is out on day one so maybe it can tempt people who normally wouldn't play it during the upcoming droughts.

Were people expecting it to sell more than the number of systems released or something? I wonder how many copies of Zelda TP were even released in Japan.

Before it is said and done a number of the launch titles that seem kind of low are going to put up some good numbers. I think that the amazing numbers that the DS is putting up has warped the minds of some people as far as sales numbers go.

Considering that Zelda: TP couldn't even possibly sell as many units as Zelda: OoT simply because the Wii doesn't have a that high user base ... YES it is too early to tell.
And just btw. I would guess that most other Zelda games have been released on a Thursday, so most had four days of sales versus two days for TP.

It seems I still have some work to do with my sarcasm:) .

Back to MC Data, will we have updated numbers today? How come did we have the figures so early this week?

Extra service of M.C. because of Wii-release ^^

So. I'm thinking... Is there any chance we'll see a Top 10 list with only 100k+ games this week?

For sure:

Tales of Destiny
Final Fantasy VI
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Wii Play
Wii Sports

Possibilities:

Love & Berry
Jump Ultimate Stars (very long shot)

Anything I've missed? :)

Zelda will sell HUGE in Europe, as in the US, and in Japan it is selling OK considering the current use base.

I just hope Nintendo notice and continue to make 'epic' games. It's epic games that make people crave for sequels and become loyal customers - ala Halo, MGS, Final Fantasy..... and Zelda!

I don't we have much fear of seeing a return to the GC days, rather we'll something more like DS (big budget tentpole titles surrounded by lower end, new market driven concepts). And really, that's probably the best one could hope for.

That was pretty much what I was going to say. GameCube was trying to tread water on forgettable fluff first-party shit through its whole life without the benefit of any third-party games to support it. Wii, on the other hand, has the minigame/brain-training genre sewn up. By pumping out "enough" of these games, Nintendo can keep the system supported with good-selling software easily, which makes it easier to devote a team to creating one, really extensive, released-only-when-it's-ready epic adventure rather than having to rush out the Mario, Zelda, etc. milestones to keep up the illusion of releasing games.

But I agree with you. Why bother making games like Zelda when something that took only a fraction of the time and money sells just as well or even more.
Because it's sucking on the purse of a different population, as long as both yield good profits, there's no reason to kill either.

¡Sales spoilers!
Seems ToD 250k, around 90% of the first shipment sold, might beat ToS PS2. Summon Night 4 at 120k....Love and Berry and Jump around 70k. 180k for DSL.

We should get top30 numbers from MC in this period...I guess we'll have to wait 1 week for the famisu top30 ><

it's hard JUS will be over 100k after first week was 150k... i think it has more chance Common Sense Training to get 100k for the week

ps: you forgot FF6 Advance
