Just to set some things straight...

- From a Dark Souls player, this game is pretty easy. Harder than the average game, but much easier than Dark Souls, especially Dark Souls 2.

- The load times suck, but a patch is coming to fix that.

- The Regain system isn't all that it was cracked up to be. Dark Souls players won't even notice it's there most of the time.

- Boss are super easy, especially compared to Dark Souls.

Any questions I'll be happy to answer.

Hardest Souls game for me, really. I really don't know how could you find the bosses super easy.

C'mon, you're a Hotline fan....maybe not as punishing but you're used to it.

haha. I even dropped the Hotline sequel, but only because I lost interest in the story. Maybe ill finish it at a later date. I just can't see myself dealing with those checkpoints. Shit is cruel yo. I noticed it on a stream the other day. This guy was fighting a boss and got killed, only to start the level far removed from that fight. I remiss.

Strange. Souls community players like VaatiVidya have been saying that this game is harder than the Souls series at least from what they had played so far...

i'm guessing it depends on your playstyle in the Souls games. people who defend a lot are probably gonna have a harder time adapting to the combat in BB.

Dark Souls 1/2 may have been hard but I played on easy mode with pyro build in 1 and faith build in 2. There probably isn't easy mode in this one. So I should be decently challenged.

Early Dark Souls 2 was stupid easy with OP Faith builds and a Mace. Game was a breeze once I got Lightning spears going and a Mace (or two) upgraded. Then when I got a Great Club, game was over, way too easy with that build, before they nerfed Lightning spears like crazy.

My only problem with people saying it's easy is that they seem like vets to the series. When I beat Dark Souls, Demon Souls and Dark Souls II didn't seem that bad and were relatively easy. Your first experience will always be the most difficult.

(And if your use to not using a shield and being aggressive, then I can imagine the game being easier)

The checkpoint system in Souls games suck, yes, but it's also part of the fun. You'll quickly learn that you don't have to fight every single enemy you see and you'll end up running through mobs just to quickly get back to a boss. The game has checkpoints, just not right outside of boss rooms most of the time.

Yea but don't u lose items acquired on the initial run before dying? I feel like the only way to beat the bosses is to level up.

That all sounds great minus the loading!

In NG+ Estus becomes broken as fuck. 20 flasks +7? At that point you can tank and fuck up on most bosses of the game without dying. Dark Souls 2 has broken healing due to life gems.

Healing in both of those games becomes broken once you stockpile souls or humanity.

Yeah, they've all had their issues. Personally I still dug the estus just for the interplay it had with the bonfires when first exploring, it made them feel like a big relief to reach over having a stockpile of healing items.

I'll see how it's handled in Bloodbourne personally though, maybe it'll win me over.

This was my experience, only I started with Demon's. Struggled hard with Demon's, then generally didn't have problems with Dark and Dark 2. Your first Souls game will always be the hardest. The following games will have difficulty spikes here and there (O&S, Ruin Sentinels) but most stuff will be doable.

Probably depends on how you play Souls. If you're more aggressive, Bloodborne comes naturally and you get better tools for an aggressive playstyle. If you like blocking and counterattacking, you're going to have a bit of a challenge adapting.

PeevePeeverson (well known PvP and PvE Souls player) have been also saying that the Cleric Beast fight was by far the hardest boss fight out of all Souls games and generally his style is quite aggressive.

When do you guys think you'll have your full and final review up?
I have no idea. There's no rush, though. Better to take our time and be thorough than try to crank something out for those extra day-one hits. I'm doing the same thing with Pillars of Eternity, which we'll also be reviewing late.

...Okay, now I have no clue. Peeve loves going balls deep with no protection, so you'd think Bloodborne would be easy for him.

Sorry i dont know much about this game. You dont need to be so hostile.

wat. How could you be not knowledgeable enough to not know its a new IP but knowledgeable enough to know its similar to dark/demons souls. Its got a completely different title then dark/demons souls.

Is the performance good? Consistent framerate?

For the most part yes. I have experienced some noticeable drops though. Happens maybe once or twice per 8-hour session.

Are there any specific boss fights that stand above the rest in difficulty in your opinion? (i.e. ornstein and smough). Bit of a shame if they end up too easy, I felt like I one-and-done'd a ton of fights in Dark Souls 2 aside from Ruin Sentinels and the flame guy.

I ran into a super high level boss battle on accident and still got it down to 50% before I died. Souls vets should be able to 1-shot most of the bosses. Normal people might have some trouble though.

The first 5-10 minutes are hard because you don't have a weapon. Beyond that I haven't seen anything that's harder than Souls 2 unless you get caught by a certain enemy that locks you up in a high level area. But that's taking you to a high level area you shouldn't be in so I wouldn't count that.

Completely agree with you there.

What Dan Stapelton is doing on Twitter is kind of embarassing

"Hey this game is hard and I don't like being challenged, this game sucks lol"

I am about to spend 65$ bucks on a game in which I know I will probably not be good at. So what. I'm not going to blast it for being challenging.

Have you tried chalice dungeons? Someone said the same things until he did the dungeon on a stream and died for hours each boss he has already killed before.

Eh, all bets are off in NG+. The games aren't balanced for that. (And that's ok, because the main focus is the initial playthrough.)

Glad you're taking your time, Jason. Classic WRPGs with big casts and lots of depth often felt like they got reviewed way too quickly back in the day.

It also felt more rewarding to dump a bunch of humanity over multiple bonfires, knowing that no matter where you go you get 20 flasks is a reward in of itself. Life gems usually support lazy play when it comes to fighting mobs or getting to bosses.
