I was a dex user... and I'm still getting destroyed. Game is tough.
I started with Dark Souls, which of course was the toughest since I was new. Found DS2 for the most part pretty easy. Demon Souls was a bit tougher but nothing too bad.
I died to the first boss in BB 8 times. The second one, I lost count. Well into the double digits.
Gametrailers review is quite good. If you watch it, you get a good idea of what's in store further into the game. Seems like after several hours of playing and 2 boss wins, I've literally barely scratched the surface.

Gametrailers almost always have the best reviews.
Sounds like it was Dan as of last week. Haven't listened to the new bombcast though.

I'm glad the game reviewed well. I don't really care for the reviews but anything that exposes the game to more sales is fine by me.

It has two other games above it and below it.
Bloodborne does currently have the highest non-remastered metacritic score for the generation though.

Yup haha I didn't expect it to score this high. (Actually I think I guessed 85-90)
Was buying either way so it didn't really matter to me but it's nice to see it resonating with everyone
Pretty much my feeling as well. I hope the game does very well atleast to send out messages to dev's like RAD - Prioritize gameplay over everything else always. It can be AAA and review well and sell well without looking like the most beautiful thing out there as long as gameplay is top notch.

BB should temporarily quiet the “PS4 haz no gaemz” (that actually count) crowd. But I only give it until the Holiday season when there’s no big PS4 exclusive for the non-“pre-season” months before that drivel starts to resurface again.

It's just shorthand for all the reviews on one game.
Kind of funny people still say that when the Xbox One has no game above a 90 except for GTA V.

I think it's trash but a lot of people like it because it gives a quick and fast number for them to decide whether or not to buy a game.
I'm not going to say they're wrong for using it, but I've seen too many games I loved be rating poorly on MC so it's not useful to me.
I make up my mind based on streams/videos and information about a game, I don't need some sort of mainstream critic number soup to tell me if it's worth a purchase.
I feel a lot of people's opinion about Metacritic/reviews changes on a convenient case-by-case basis.
No one is putting value in it. It's just interesting to see how the game is doing among critics.
It seems to be unfortunately a platform that allows publishers and media to generate hype and thus sales. I mean I am pretty sure Sony is going to start including the 'Universal Acclaim' part in future Bloodborne adverts. A critically acclaimed game gets people talking.
I do think it's impressive that this game is doing so well since reviewers have been more harsh lately. I was expecting mid-80s max.
Yeah I listened to first half of the Bombcast already. Brad and Dan are both at about the same spot in the game. 20-25 hours in if I recall correctly

Yeah, but at least people are sane this time. About the best we could have counted on.
I theoried Bloodborne would be in the 85 range, so it's performing better than I expected. Great for them.
Yep they both love it. Only complaint was the load times really. Dan apparently has only played Dark Souls 2 previously but he did enjoy that as well.

Exactly. This is like hitting a homerun or scoring a TD in preseason. Sure, it makes you feel good, but it doesn't actually count. Talk to me when there's a good PS4 game that comes in a plastic box, is not a remaster, not also on PS3 and that is released between 11/17~12/27. Oh, Japanese games don't count either.
On the whole yes the really like it but they have a few complaints
(Loading times and samey-ness of environments)
I actually never checked reviews for that game since I bought it blind. Tied for highest non-remastered metacritic score then.

MC has a disgusting amount of power over the industry. It influences things like bonuses from publishers, sales, sequels, the future of developers and whether or not a game counts as an actual game according to some neoGAFers. Personally, it annoys me severely that this is that way it is, but this is the way it is. You can’t deny that a good MC score is good for the game & developer as a whole and a bad MC score is bad for the game & developer as a whole.
