So they’re expecting Apple to make 1.5M in the first year?

I just meant they’ll likely sell out whatever they make.Units. x $3499
Only in the sense that they are trying to sell it with absolutely no software.Isn't it more augmented reality than it is VR?
It’s not for gaming. No way they're going to sell that many for gaming.
Apple makes the best hardware and software into one singular device. This product will probably be used by every professional making VR and AR content and software for all platforms. My gut says that this will be a big failure, but my gut has always been wrong about Apple.
1299.99 charging stand. How about they add a headset stand and make it a cool $5k?
I'm not putting anything past Apple after their $999 pricing for a monitor mount...
This right here. In 5 years will have had a few iterations and price will come down. In 15 years, could possibly be like the iPhone. This is a good piece of hardware that wants to replace several other devices you use. It might do so in the future. They have to start somewhere. They usually start expensive, until they become mainstream many years later.
Exactly what I thought when the iPhone X was introduced as a $1k smart phone. Surely, no one would buy a $1,000-$1,200 smartphone. That thing sold like crazy. Now $1,000 is standard with Samsung pushing $1,400-$1,700.Hope not because we are screwed
Careful now, think about all the people that would lose their job.Hope this shit fails badly.
Well, for one, you can sit in front of your MacBook Pro 24/7 if you want. Try wearing something so heavy on your face for a couple of hours first and see how you feel. From what I read this thing is pretty chunky. Even the lightest VR headset is uncomfortable after a few hours.I am not sweet on this thing, but I have a question...
How is this any different from 16 inch MacBook Pro that cost $3500?
Has it occurred to anyone, that in 10 years, the very concept of a laptop will be replaced by devices like these?
And just so its known, I don't own a single Apple product. But I can clearly see the potential and where this is going.
The thing is I don't believe this is how this tech will be forever. But I can already see where its going.Well, for one, you can sit in front of your MacBook Pro 24/7 if you want. But then again this thing lasts two hours. I don't know. Seems ridiculously overpriced and I seriously doubt someone will use it for work.
Everyone has been waiting years to hear about the M-series Mac Pro. It ended up being just a Mac Studio and they gave it about 5 seconds of talk time. Honestly that was the most pathetic letdown of anything I've seen in years. What a joke.I doubt it. This will be slightly better than their $7000 PC that they rarely talk about.
Sorry, when I read I want it to succeed but not at that price point I read it as I want it to fail. I get your point and thanks for explaining.
I honestly think that Apple will start justifying the price and the use cases this fall. As I said in another thread I expect the iPhone pro max level model to have 3D content capture in its cameras. Pair that with 3D editing enabled version of Final Cut on the Vision Pro and you'll have your first use case. Same one that gets hobbyist photographers and filmmakers spending thousands on color perfect monitors and pro level workstations.
And then they'll probably get some composer or Grammy award winning musician showing how they can visualize their music making using the vision pro and some next gen version of Logic Pro.
I'm not worried about them clearing a million devices if they land anything close to that.
Didn’t you notice the whole presentation was focused on social and work productivity? Apple doesn’t give a shit about VR gaming. Which they shouldn’t because VR gaming will never be a necessity. If there are good commercial uses beyond gaming I could see corporate customers buying these. No way they're going to sell that many for gaming.
It will not, since you need a tactile input device to really put some work involving writing. However this + Bluetooth keyboard - yes, this is the future.Has it occurred to anyone, that in 10 years, the very concept of a laptop will be replaced by devices like these?
Don't see why those sales aren't believable but it won't be too just normal consumers, businesses will lap these up.
It would actually be a good replacement for a laptop if it offered what a laptop does but it doesn't. It has poor battery life and poor smartphone-like performance. If the price was more in line with what it was offering just in terms of hardware it would be better received.I am not sweet on this thing, but I have a question...

Didn’t know that. That explains the battery life. With an M2 chip?
