Bobby Kotick sold Activision Blizzard because of China...

Bobby says Satya is a incredible CEO. Very smart. Told Satya to get out of gaming because Microsoft isn't a creative company.

And time later goes back to him to tell MS should buy ABK because they're a creative one, so MS needs them.

To be honest its one of the most interesting interviews I've ever seen. The thing that struck me is how sharp Bobby Kotick is; I mean he's pulling up names and places with minimal hesitation going back 40 years, its genuinely impressive. Like him or not he's certainly somebody who its worth listening to.

The funny thing for me is that both Bobby and Bing (Gordon) had/have terrifying reputations! So don't be mistaken by their calm and pleasant conversation, these guys aren't just sharks, they are *Alpha* sharks.

Wow let’s just defer to authority to some guy that got lucky with the team that made a winning formula with CoD MW and turned them into a perpetual CoD factory

Without that one hit game his business would have folded

Yeah, there’s a *lot* of luck, he would even admit it.
Mate it just wasn't luck. He's done well for himself. I believe his story about those two companies filing bogus charges though. That sounds exactly what something in the USA would happen.

If you read Jason Schrierer’s book about a blizzard, you’ll see that this exactly the case. Bobby just landed on a gold mine with COD and tried to do the same with World of Warcraft, when that didn’t work, he tried doing it again with Overwatch and was pretty tepid on Diablo and StarCraft. When Destiny came to the picture, he believed this will be the replacement of COD but, one again, it turns out his winning card started and ended with COD and turning it to a factory was his main “achievement”. He has a lot in common with early crypto adopters than actual talent of replicating success. A one-trick-pony. And when Fortnite proved they can take the spot COD had been sitting for so long, the writing was on the wall, China or otherwise.

Slacktivist Jason Schreier tried to throw mud at Bobby Kotick in his new book?!

Regardless of what you think about him, what he said about work culture is on point.
"Btw, they go to the office everyday, 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, they dont need vegan meal at cafeteria."

My analysis on this is that game costs are over inflated and under delivered.

Kingdom Come 2 was arond 41 million right?

Does he mean they don't need to "SELL" vegan meals at the cafeteria? Or have those meals for free?

Say what you want about his politics, his in-depth research and contacts in the industry makes for some of the best collection of insider information within the games media all around. If there was foul play on his side, Activition would've sued him for slander for his book.

You're making it sound like all these other games were failures or something. WOW was and I think still is the biggest MMO in the industry. Overwatch was huge at the time of release and for a long time after. Diablo 4 did very well also. Diablo Immortals also did very well. Sure maybe these projects didn't blow up like COD but they sure as hell made their money back and then some.

I’m referencing the book directly and that was Bobby’s feedback to WOW, whether or it was the “biggest” MMO. It’s not COD nor did it generate the revenue COD provided, that’s why it was kicked to the back burner. It made the money until the money wasn’t generated enough. If it was run by anyone other than Bobbby we might see Overwarch 3 and the like. Doing “well” does not cut it in Activision, it has to surpass expectations.

It does not have to do with selling or give.
If you dont have vegan meals on a chinese company, nobody gives a fuck, nobody complains.

Here you have to accommodate for all the special snowflakes.
