Yeh skill up posted about having spent some time there the other day.

My expectations couldn't be lower for this one. Still pissed off with them deciding to do this with the IP instead of creating a new one.

Keen to see what they've been cooking. Could go either way but bar a couple of turd Destiny expansions Bungie have not let me down.

We'll find out soon enough I guess.

It's going to be another GAAS game in the pile of games from the same "genre" that tried hard and didn't get far

Worst purchase ever, way to go Sony, lmao

Cool, didn't know crystal balls are on sale just now.

We've seen zero from this game. I'd like to see some actual gameplay before I go writing it off.

After the disaster Concord, something tells me this might be good just like helldiver. They are not over hyping it, just keeping a low profile which is a good sign. But I might be wrong. We shall see.

First new Bungie game in ten years. The Hype is just about to start.

Even if the game is a turd Bungie know how to sell.

I am not expecting much but as much as people hate on Bungie lately, Destiny 2 was one of the top grossing games on Steam last year.

If Marathon is a success, a lot of people are going to be eating crow on this M&A.

I'll never play it because GaaS isn't my MO but hope that they'll expand on this with a single player campaign (I know they won't, but maybe Sony will insist at some point, a single player FPS from Bungie I think would be a very big deal).

A surprise addition to the Switch2 launch year? If not why reveal this now?
My guess is Alpha/ Beta over the summer leading into a fall release, like Destiny 1.

Nothing to do with Switch 2 mate, no matter how much of a hard on for it you have.

Think the beta has to come much earlier. I wouldn't be launching what is essentially a new IP in the fall with all the buzz surrounding GTA6.

Even launching a new GaaS game this year is going to result in massive drop off if GTA6 Online comes out this year along with GTA6.

It'll be very interesting to see if Marathon is F2P or not.

Of all the GaaS games we've heard about I think this is probably the one with the best chances of success for Sony. I think success will be very PC-centric if it plays anything like EFT though, I don't see CoD bro console players having the patience for the TTKs needed to have some level of suspense.

You seem to have a hard on for me, reacting and replying to my posts. I'm not interested. I'll keep commenting on whatever I want, you keep commenting about me and my posts, but again, not interested.

They're basically looking to make a AAA sci fi Tarkov and defining a new market. CoD is a popular game but it doesn't define gaming any more than Fortnite does.

The fact that there isn't a major extraction shooter on console also gives Bungie a massive advantage and like I said, it'll be very interesting to see if this is a F2P title or not. The closest thing to it is probably Helldivers 2... but that didn't have Bungie's history behind it or what will certainly be the polish of a AAA studio.

Marathon is a really big deal, which isn't even to suggest that Destiny is done. Destiny Rising is only the first step in Destiny becoming a bigger thing.

I do wonder if Marathon will come to Switch 2 and MacOS and iOS e.t.c. Always surprised that more games aren't as accessible as say Fortnite when accessibility is a big part of Fortnite's success.

Whatever they showed before wasn't at all promising. I'm not expecting another concord, but I'm not expecting something that is much better either.

They only showed a CGI trailer?

I think he's referring to reports of early playtests from Tarkov players where the reported outcome was that most of the players said they wouldn't leave Tarkov to play Marathon.

I think that's vague and uncompelling for a lot of reasons.

One, it was still early and the game has been delayed SIGNIFICANTLY since then. Two, asking players who are known for a specific game if they would give up said game to play your game generally isn't going to have great results in the first place. Three, you can still take the feedback from these players and incorporate it, which is probably what they did.

Even the early marketing roll out of this seems completely different than Concord and has a degree of polish that is becoming of Bungie.

They're also smart by curative the early response to influencers they feel like they can trust. It allows you to control the narrative more than a free for all where people like Luke Stephens and MoistCritical just shit on your game. In fact, if the response is already positive, it makes it harder for these mostly rage baiting channels to shift the narrative because public sentiment might already be positive.

I do expect an open beta by the end of the month or end of May at the latest. I think anything longer and you're asking for trouble and a possibly launch problems. That being said, this game has probably been "done" for over a year.

Wait...what's with the hate for this game? I was expecting a different vibe for this in here lol.

There's a large segment here that hates on anything GaaS regardless of what it is. People were very negative on Helldivers 2 as well, and that crushed.

They are not representative of the market. GaaS is a boom or bust type of market. Bungie hasn't missed, so I vote for BOOM. This game will do amazingly well. Not saying it will match Helldivers 2, but it will certainly be one of the most played titles. The game has a unique enough style and that classic Bungie gameplay feel married with a genre that hasn't had a ton of AAA production in the space.....I think it's the recipe for success.

I also suspect that this will come to Switch 2.

To be fair i think a lot of the hate also comes from the anti GAAS Sony crowd who blame Bungie for various things.

Combination of both for sure.

Just weird to see some of it coming from predominantly Xbox fans who all LOVED GaaS shooters (and still do - ESPECIALLY FROM BUNGIE!), and yet there's all this suspicion of it failing. This is a group of people that should love this kind of game.

It's frankly bizarre, especially when Marathon is coming out still on Xbox.
