Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Had Biggest Launch-Period Player Total In Series' History (#1 Total Players, #1 Hours Played, #1 Total Matches)

NeoGAF's Physical Games Advocate Extraordinaire
Activision has announced more details around Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 that speak to the game's popularity, though the publisher has not disclosed a sales number for the title as of yet.

In a statement, Activision said Black Ops 6 is now the "biggest Call of Duty ever" over its first 30 days when it comes to total players, total hours played, and total matches played. Before this, Activision said Black Ops 6 broke records for the same categories over its first three days.

Developer Treyarch thanked fans for their support and announced that a double XP weekend for Black Ops 6 will begin this Wednesday, November 27. That's a few days before the actual weekend, but Treyarch is no doubt kicking things off early due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the US.

In addition to double XP, Black Ops 6 is adding new multiplayer playlists on November 27. These include Prop Hunt, Stakeout 24/7, and Hardcore Stakeout 24/7.

Repetitive news they're tweeting from two weeks ago:

"According to Activision, Black Ops 6 had the highest opening weekend numbers for any game in the franchise among total players, total hours played, and total matches."

Meanwhile actual sales were lower than MW3 which wasn't even that big a seller compared to other releases in the series. Guess we found out what they meant by "performing".

Activision says something about their own game. NeoGAF doesn’t believe them 😂.

Simple fact is COD MP is as popular as ever and shows no signs of slowing down. This will always be the case until it gets some decent competition.

It also helps that it is a great game of course!
By "Neogaf" do you mean one person in this thread?

Well, say what you will about season pass and WZ but cod never had more people playing and addicted to buying their season.

I highly doubt this. I remember booting up Black Ops 2 and seeing 600,000 players online. There is no way they even touched that number.
They will have absolutely smashed 600k ccu, there was over 300k ccu on steam alone on the second weekend. Granted some of those players would have been on Warzone or MWIII, but 600k ccu for COD these days is peanuts.

Some friends and I picked up the new CoD for the first time in like a decade (outside of some dicking around in warzone) because of gamepass... and honestly we're having a blast. Simple formula pretty much perfected, even if it lacks depth or substance and you know it isnt particularly good for you. It's the McDonalds of video games (in the most positive way one can suggest such a thing)

Curious as to how the games current numbers are. I enjoyed it at launch and played with some friends. But I am finding the maps just aren't as fun. I played a few matches this weekend but just have mostly put it down.

Opening weekend =/= first 30 days.
Cumulative "total players, total hours and total matches" do not decrease. If it beat franchise records on the opening weekend it very likely would "beat" it every week thereafter because it's cumulative. They could repeat this news every week thereafter.

The unlikely scenario of this not happening is that a game in the franchise in the past bombed on opening weekend then became popular after and that has never happened in CoD and rarely ever happened with any other game even.

Not repetitive for those with reading comprehension.
Cool I look forward to the same fresh and fascinating news next fortnight with the same cumulative numbers then.

Nintendo should get in on this too.

"Switch total consoles in 4 years beat all other nintendo home consoles"

"Switch total consoles in 4years +(2 weeks) beat all other nintendo home consoles"

Switch total consoles in 4 years + (4 weeks) beat all other nintendo home consoles.

This isn't repetitive news at all because some weeks are going by! Amazing news.

I don’t know if a call of duty game is good yet until a year later, living with it—cod4 I was blessed to have played, and danced all the way to 10th prestige. All my favorite maps, overgrown, crossfire, bog, pipeline are classics.
