Call of Duty MW2 Remake for may be coming for current gen - rated by the Aussie classification board

The Australian goverment have classified a MW2 release for the PS5. Important to note that this is referring to the original game, as Activision distinguish them from the reboot series using numbers and numerals (i.e. MW2/MWII).

This appears to have online multiplayer, based on comparing this to the campaign only remaster from 2020:

What i just bought the goddam thing it was 25$ on psn
Also im stuck on that stupid rooftop in the favela because im old now and have no reflexes anymore and can't kill all those mean brasileiros crawling up the building like samba dancing cockroaches.

If they've added online multiplayer then I'm very interested. This is basically the only CoD I played. Wonder if this could be announced as a Switch 2 launch title. The previous release being the campaign only was dumb.

Didn't they already do this a few years back?

That was just the campaign. This new listing states online features, so multiplayer and hopefully spec ops.

Interest in the H2M mod was pretty viral last summer, so it would make sense to cash in on it I guess.
Yeah, but since then we've seen all the OG MW2 maps brought back in MWIII, and some of the rose tint has come of the nostalgia glasses.

Unless Activision can monetize the crap of it, they won't do it, because they know people will drop current COD like a hot potato. And if they do find a way to add aggressive microtransactions, is it even worth our time?

They're going hard with the nostalgia right now with Verdansk trying to win players back as they've been dropping off a cliff since Christmas.

Player numbers are at an all time low since Warzone launched. Ironically the MW2 Campaign Remastered didn't have multiplayer so that it wouldn't take players from the launch of Warzone shortly after. It appears we've gone full circle.

Let's see what it looks like first.

Wasn't this basically what MWIII was?...

Edit: I wonder if they are just taking MW2 Remastered Campaign and MW2 multiplayers maps from MWIII and repacking as one unit to sell....

These things need to come to Gamepass and let me replay all the campaigns :)
The hilarity of the MP if those came to gamepass would be gold. Most of the popular ones are full of hackers that can derank and lock your classes. It's become even easier to run exploits on 360 now so it basically makes them unplayable and they won't go back and fix them.

MW2 without a faithful remake of its multiplayer is not really interesting.
sure the campaign was fun, but not really special.

it's the MW2 MP that people have nostalgia for. so if it has that this time it's a huge upgrade from the original remaster thingy

I still hold a grudge against this game. Maybe with the better graphics people will finally see how shit the multiplayer was compared to the far superior CoD4 (promod) and CoD2.

I'd be willing to bet this is only the campaign again which I don't really see the point in since they already did it.

MW3 was also rumored somewhere recently which makes complete sense as MW/MW2 are on modern platforms but MW3 is stuck on PS3/360 (PC not included).

Sad Doctor Who GIF

Im one of the very few individual depraved enough to rather play COD solo than multiplayer.
You're not depraved at all Sir. 90% of my fun I have had from this game has been either SP or playing coop Spec Ops.

Last month me and a buddy started BO3 Coop campaign together on realistic and it has been a fun painful torture. We're almost done!

PS: Take your time in the Favela, it's a bitch to get through on veteran but its not impossible.

This new version says it has online features.
Interesting.

Personally I would love a remaster of MW/MW2/MW3 that has the full online functionality, but I just can't see it as I honestly think it would tank BO6 numbers and I don't see Activision wanting that. I could be wrong though as maybe Xbox has different ideas.
If I was activision I would never add MP to the older games because you're right; the games will cannibalize each other.

I think the MP features would more along the lines of Spec Ops (Please Add this!) and leaderboards of sorts.
Of course there is also the possibility that Acti are on the brink of a massive strategic shift and are about hedge their bets on Gamepass exclusivity for CoD. Could be something big!

Multiplayer interest is at an all time low, and once the nostaglia wears off from Verdansk coming back the same will happen to Warzone.

I'd say bringing back an older game is inevitable, either MW2 or BO2. But I don't trust Activision not to load them with stupid bundles and matchmaking that gaslights you. So in a way I hope these are just re-releases with fresh servers that aren't full of hackers.

Deja Fucking View.

All the same comments regarding multiplayer that were made when MW Campaign Remastered was announced. The campaigns were fun, but the meat of these two games and all of the nostalgia is fully wrapped in the online multiplayer. The campaign re-releases are quick money grabs. If they were smart they would re-release them with the faithful online multiplayer intact. They would rake it in
