Control ultimate edition 2025 free update (pre-order outfits, PC ultra RT, DLAA, Kojima)

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Luminous studio was making great games. Loved FF XV and Forspoken. 2 unique, very accomplished games that people are too casual to "get it"

YMMV but Control and Control UE show up as different SKUs on my Xbox. Assuming it might be the same case on the Epic Store.
Yes.
They have Control (which shows that I own) and Control UE (which I was able to buy).
So even though I bought the season pass, no update for me?

Most technically incompetent studio on the market currently.
And as for console versions - they shafted it and they can;t even make good gamepad controls in control and alan wake 2. Delayed, deadzoned, square, accelleration. Everything wrong with the sticks, they've done it.
Alan Wake remaster got no hdr and control had no hdr for so long. What a joke.

Also, control was boring.
Remedy has fallen so far.
(yes I have control on pc too... thats where I originally finished it... barely... I will check the update maybe)
I'll absolutely give you that point about the gamepad controls. Coming back to Control after Returnal was eye-opening and they do some quite similar things.

Old video, but apparently this mod is now part of the official patch. That HDR and noise comparison is spot on.

I'm not sure it's the exact same implementation. Maybe someone who's already tried this patch could confirm. Since I only have the game for PS5 I'll have to wait.

This is one I really need to get back and finish. I think I stopped at one of those areas that repeat until you find the correct path. I hate that shit.

The guy who developed this HDR+ultrawide+DLSS+RT mod is a Remedy developer and based on what I saw the official patch is based on the same work, although it offers additional tweaks.

Yeah, he came out and said it was improved over his mod. Also, if you are on PC, you have to go into the render.ini and change "m_eHDRPreset" to 2. For whatever the reason they decided to hide actual HDR from the settings. A developer claimed it was a "artistic" decision, but I just think it's a bullshit decision and people should be allowed to choose for themselves. Probably means when the patch comes to console you won't even get the option to have decent HDR.

I also only have Control and not the UE but an Update is downloading right now.

I don't even understand what relation whatever he thinks has to this update
It's simple, he wanted to vent and got the attention of the first 5 posts, regardless of this just being an update thread. People do it here quite often, leading to thread derails. Maybe you will do it one day too.

Agreed.
Unbelievably dull game.

This is the best Remedy game and its completely average and super overrated I couldn't fathom playing this more than once

Alan Wake almost got it right, but got super repetitive.

Wanted to like Quantum Break, but the stupid live action videos didn't help.

Played a bit of Control, and felt extremely floaty.

What I hate about all three games, is the amount of notes strewn about that tell the story. It's lazy story telling, and its overkill in each game.

I re-installed from Epic and got ver 1.3 with HDR. Looks good with whatever settings I had. Took me awhile to re-learn the controls.

There used to be a launcher that asked if you wanted Directx 11 or 12, now it just launches the game.

Did they added DualSense native support?
I am not sure but I doubt it.
I had my DualSense hooked up and the game did not recognize any button pushes. As soon as I switched it out to my Xbox controller, it worked fine.
There may be a setting that I am not seeing but a game should see it right away.

Can someone tell me what this has to do with Kojima? I was scanning the op, but I have work to do and couldn’t find it quickly.

try disabling steam input completely for the game

You can literally beat the game without reading a single document. The character dialogue and objective prompts fully guide the player. The documents scattered around provide context and are appropriate considering the game takes place in a highly bureaucratic office setting.

yup its extra lore for remedy universe enjoyers like me
the whole connection between alan wake/control is insane and ultimately why I enjoy their games so much

and from that perspective, their games have insane replay value. playing control after playing alan wake 2 allows you to look at the story from a new perspective and vice versa

its also cool and possible to make connections to quantum break and max payne. of course they cannot be officially introduced to the remedy universe but it is there. jesse / beth wilder, tim breaker / jack joyce. it is so fun to play these games with this in mind lol. jesse is such a cold character but in a cool way. becomes so powerful but always keeps her cool. she has seen things and isn't shocked at all by what she experiences in the oldest house

I've already started a replay of control after alan wake 2 but couldn't finish it. now it is time to go back with this update.

oh yeah because that's a mark of a "good developer" is to throw very expensive ray tracing on everything and call it a day.
You are like a baby reacting at the look of keys being shaken "uuuu shiny!!!"
Very expensive RT and even more PT.
Terrible, very unreasonably so grainy SSR as drawback.
Terrible image quality, requiring ungodly amounts of temporal upscaling to remove the shimmering (and it still does a poor job with that ssr).
All of that for a result that looks worse than tlou part 1 and part 2, with much worse image quality and terrible performance. Yes, maybe some parts of tlou looks flat but overall it looks way better and impressive.
Even their HDR kinda sucks ass.
And as I've said - They have no idea how to do console controls. What deadzones are, roundness of sticks... acceleration... nothing. Pure incompetence.

They are not a good developer anymore.
Good dev would've baked it, made mix of many techniques and this game should be looking like tlou2 and flying at 60+fps.
This game does not have a dynamic time of day.... the time of day changes when level ends.
Everyone can achieve good results by throwing ray tracing at the problem. This is not a mark of a good dev.

Oh and control is just boring sponge shooter with one of most uninteresting protagonists ever.
Alan Wake 2 I liked a bit more but also the game is far from great.
Whats happened to you over the last year or two?. Its like the Forspoken hate sent you over the edge or something.

I will agree with you about the games image quality though, it sucks, even at 4k. I'll be interested to see how much better the IQ is with this update.

Nah, that should be GameFreak and then it's a tie between Remedy and FromSoftware.

At least Remedy doesn't have the income the other two have.

Remedy is leagues above From.

Team Ninja, Game Freak, Monster Hunter team, From Software, Studio Wildcard of Ark Survival fame, and more.

Come on man, Remedy makes top-tier looking games. Them running poorly on low or mid-tier hardware is somewhat excusable. Those other games look and run bad.
