Because it is luck. Goalies just guess which way to dive and sometimes they randomly guess correct.

You can fuck up though. Like Messi during this final or Higuain during last year's.

Being able to remain calm and beat stress makes a lot of difference.

Yeah, it's not only luck at all, skills both from the shooter and the goalkeeper play a key role.

Having said that, I don't like PK either, I love when a team scores after a beautiful well developed playing.
