Cops Say Man Broke Baby's Leg When Diaper Change Interrupted His Game

Hernando, Florida -- A Citrus County man broke a month-old baby's leg in frustration over having to stop playing video games to change a diaper, deputies said.

20-year-old Paul Lajeunesse is currently being held without bond on a charge of aggravated child abuse.

According to the baby's grandmother, Lajeunesse -- who spends most of the time at the home and does not work -- had been getting upset at having to routinely change the child's diapers, and she had worried at how he was handling the baby while doing so. The grandmother said the baby would often cry when he changed the diaper, but did not cry when she did so.

The baby's mother lives at the home, but attends school during the day, so the grandmother is the baby's primary caretaker.

Citrus deputies say on the afternoon of December 11, the grandmother asked Lajeunesse change the baby's diaper. Lajeunesse was allegedly playing an Xbox game at the time and became upset that he was being interrupted.

Lajeunesse later told the Department of Children and Families that he was frustrated before attempting to change the diaper and that when he lifted the infant's legs, he heard a pop and saw the right leg go limp.

He alerted the grandmother and the child was later taken to the doctor. X-rays showed the baby's leg had been fractured and the child was taken to the hospital for treatment. The baby has since been released.

Lajeunesse was arrested and ordered not to have contact with the victim. It is not clear what his relationship with the child is.

Disgusting. And of course underlying mental illness and emotional unbalance cannot possibly be the cause of this tragedy -- must be video games that turn people into violent monsters.

As a new father and gamer, I find this guy total scum.

Baby first, games are way down the list from your baby.

I'm also a new father with an 8 month old at home and he is my world. I didn't even touch a game in his first 4-5 months. Some things are just way more important.

Clearly this guy has some kind of mental instability and has no business with a child.

This is extremely saddening, but also a bit confusing. Why is it uncertain what type of relationship the guy has with the baby? If he was abusing his baby, why did he go to his grandmother for help when a popping sound happened? It sort of paints the impression that the baby may not have been his baby, but the baby of the girl he was currently dating, and that this may have been an accident? It doesn't make a difference in the end, but some parts of the story seem kind of odd.

Yeah, that's because you're a normal functioning human adult and this guy is a worthless piece of shit.

On the list of things to do, video games rank somewhere between making sure the dishes are done and getting enough sleep to function at work.

Babies are very bendable. I used to put my son in a wrap and I'd fold his legs in. I was worried that it would hurt him. It didn't.

TL;DR You have to be a real asshole to break a baby's leg.

Hey! This is where I live! Never met this dude but, fuck, babies having babies :-(

There's a Facebook group called "Citrus County's Most Wanted" that consistently makes me feel great about myself and awful about this awful, chaotic void called life.

Perfect G/A/F opportunity wasted OP.

Sad that a child was left in the care of such a person though.

If we have fun police in force everytime something tragic happens in the world, nobody would ever laugh...ever.

I just don't like seeing someone crack jokes during something like this, there's a time and place for stuff like this, this isn't one.

Why is it okay to do that?

Anyway, I just hope they managed to fix the leg and that the baby is safe.

That is fucked up, even if you get interrupted while playing , changing diapers for a child which seems to part of your family is something you have to do and should not be seen as something you have to do in frustration.
Breaking his leg is like what the hell.

Disgusting individual. Hope he loses custody. There is no sympathy for a negligent parent, especially one that harms a child.

Get these shit threads outta here. I come to gaming for other bullshit, not these depressing headlines. Fuck. And yea, I didn't read the OP, I don't care. I'll take the ban. Headline makes me want to vomit.

Not that he didn't fuck up, but this isn't like he intentionally did it. He wasn't careful like he needed to be, but he didn't apparently intentionally hurt the child, and alerted someone the moment he realized something was wrong.

He could be lying, of course.

Reminds me of the mother who was addicted to farmville and neglected her baby to death (something like that.)

Sad and terrible news....I do wonder how old the guy was.

EDIT: skipped that 20 year old part....I need glasses. -.-

It's not an accident. Even if his intention wasn't to break the baby's leg he handled the child inapropriately with the hurry to get back to the game. Who gives a fuck about a damn game when taking care of an infant? Handling a newborn violently because it interrupted your gaming? Why do these retards have kids? Fucking idiot.

His story is bullshit, babies aren't that fragile that you could break a leg just by lifting their legs to slip the nappy in under them.
