Crysis 3 Open Beta starting Jan 29th

Averaging 40-50 fps everything maxed, lens flare off, post processing low. TXAA is a bit more taxing than SMAA, some big dips jumping into water. Some pretty bad texture loading at times seemingly.

GTX 680
i5 3570K

Both at stock. Will try with the new beta drivers anyway.

Edit: at 1080p.

Motion blur is off as well.

Sorry if this has already been confirmed, but does Crysis 3 still have that forced awful Temporal AA that Crysis 2 did?

The game is raping my OC'd E8500. It's been time to upgrade for awhile, but this is really sealing it. I've never had a game perform this sluggishly since upgrading to a GTX 580. I've got to assume the bottleneck is the CPU.

For what it's worth, I never had this issue with Crysis 2.

It has SMAA, TXAA, FXAA and MLAA options available at all settings.

Doesn't really answer my question I'm afraid, temporal AA isn't really the same thing as Anti-Aliasing. It's got more in common with motion blur than anything. It basically blends the current and the last frame together, which is meant to hide the aliasing crawl effect from motion but really just causes ghosting atifacts. Crysis 2 had it with no way to turn it off and it was horrible.

You know that You could rise up postAA and edgeAA settings in C2 console/ini to eliminate ghosting? :>
I've even done that in Crysis 2 MP Beta already.

And he answered Your question, because basic TAA was component of Crytek's post AA technology and SMAA, MLAA, TXAA or FXAA doesnt have that [ok SMAA has that but done differently].

Has anyone tried to lower their graphics settings all the way down?

I'm basically getting the same frames as it was in my highest settings.. about 55-60 FPS.

670 GTX FTW
i5 3570k
8gb RAM

Ha, just like with the alpha. It'd be really ballsy if the final game is DX11 only. I would expect my DX10 GPU to be able to run the game at parity with how the console versions look.

I suppose it doesn't really matter since I'm getting a 660 ti next month.

omg this game is such an improvement. its so good.
My 680 is killing this game

downsampling ultra settings with fxaa at 2540 x 1440 resolution I am getting 45-55 fps and 1080p i am getting 70 fps

It's a DX11-only game.

Any Radeon 7970 impressions? Debating on whether or not I should give up my easy downsampling method to install the new ATI drivers.

I think you mean TXAA has a temporal component not SMAA. So you are saying that Crysis 3 doesn't have temporal AA on by default then?

Surprisingly fun given the reticule delay and cloaking and insta kills.

Shotgun class with super sprint is really enjoyable.

So there are unlocks in beta? Good, Alpha got boring fast because of lack of progression, perks and new weapons :)

This game.... DAY 1

bullet sponges is my favourite thing about MP. I hate games with instakills unless they are called Counter Strike.

Well I just maxed my Rank 10, so not really. You can customize your loadout, but there are really really few options.

It's not. You choose your engagement distance.
Shotty 1 shots up close if armor is not up. Headshots are still kills I think.

Pick shotgun class. Sprint like sonic. 1 shot baddies. Feels good.
