Crysis 3 Open Beta starting Jan 29th

Is the beta up on PC yet? The PC instructions say to just launch origin and it should be there, but when I bring it up all I see is the alpha =\

It's a bullet sponge game? Instaskip.

You can kill quite fast if others do not use armor mode or You aim for head, but of course hitting chest on armor mode it wont be that easy :)

@Zarx
I'll confirm SMAA modes when i'll be in home :)

Click store in Origin and then Crysis 3 beta banner.

yes, it's up everywhere I think. I'm quite surprised it's so good and polished because I didn't like C2 MP. There are a lot of nifty things like match highlights and some other little details in UI and so on.

I wasn't planning on buying this until Christmas but now I can't resist.

So I'm basically done with the beta now. Crash Site and Hunters keep it fresh. Can anyone else confirm I'm not crazy and there is input lag on aiming? IIRC Crysis had raw mosue input?
Hunting the Hunters as Cell is really fun since they don't expect me to go after them.

Might have to refresh your games list?

Yup, I've just played it for about 15 minutes. This thing brought my PC to its knees. I've never really hit framerate issues like this since I tried to play The Witcher 2.

i7 2600k at 3.4ghz, 16gb RAM, GTX 560ti (all stock clocks).

I'm gonna try some overclocking at some point but for now, you win Crytek. You win.

yep, headshots are pretty essential here. But there's too much going on and it's not a competitive-focused game with clear environments and post-processing which makes it easier to use your skill, i.e. headshot people instead of AAAAAAA I'M GONNA KILL YOU ALL TATATATATA

you are not crazy, I'm sure people will fix that. Vsync issues probably.

Could be a lot happier with my performance, on a gtx670 and a 2500k.

Haven't installed beta drivers yet or done a lot of tweaking. Just tried it on high settings and messed around with the different AA options.

Heading for a bit, but i'll mess around with it when i get back.

EDIT I have my 2500k at stock. Should i overclock it a tad?

I turn off blur and put post to medium for this reason

I turned Vsync off already :/

And anyone wondering:
High/vHigh blend of settings: 2600K @ 4.2Ghz w/ GTX 670 (Factory OC) = Average of 70-80FPS @ 1080p. Dips lower ofc.

Should help smooth out the dips in frames.

install beta drivers, same specs here, it's about 50-60 on average for me with drops to 40-45.

damn, that sucks

I've played on default sensitivity, may be it's the reason. Somebody should mine config files.

I'm doing 800DPI at normal Windows sensitivity and I think 15 in game sens (Down from 50)

It's not really noticible if you just stand and shoot stuff in front of you. Try doing some runbys with the shotgun and flicking to pop dudes. It's pretty apparent.
Anywho, make sure you pop on the [GAF] clan tag. Might play some more tomorrow after people get a feel for it.

yeah, that's what I've been doing and that's why I noticed it too.

2500k at 4.5ghz and a gtx670 overclocked.

Everything very high, with shaders on high.
1080p
1x smaa
Motion blur off
Non-beta drivers

Good fps and looks great! Would like 2x smaa, but would have to turn shadows or post-processing down to high, it seems.

Yeah same clusterfuck as always. Both modes are boring as shit.

Not.Every.Game.Needs.Fucking.Multiplayer.

and the Crysis series is definitely one of those.

When I went into the Origin Store and then the Demos section I found the Crysis 3 Beta available for download. It did not show up under My Games like the Crysis 3 site stated.

Anyway downloading it now.

Runs at 30-40fps, 1080p, some low, some med, textures high on a 7770 + 3.2GHZ Quad. Looks great imo.

Gonna try the ps3 version if its up later today.

I am actually pretty impressed. I get some performance hiccups that I dont understand. Game goes from like 70fps to a studder even though the VRAM usage is below my RAM limit.

But other than that it is god damn awesome. You are crazy fast in comparison to C2.

Can someone report on the vram usage at 1080p with highest AA level please?

Over 2GB.

----

For anyone on 1080p, the game is perfectly playable @ 60FPS w/ 4xMSAA on a 2GB 680. VRAM usage varied between 1.6GB~1.9GB.

That was with motion blur and lens flare off, everything else on maximum/very high.

Edit: Is anyone else seeing the shimmering in certain parts of the Airport map? It looks like when you force AO in certain games.

Yeah noticed that as well, started to think my GPU was on the fritz :P

Getting decent performance on i7 930 stock speed and 1.5 gb gtx 580 with slight OC. All high settings, with smaa x1 (low) runs buttery smooth and looks pretty good.

Hunter mode seems like alot of fun.... the bow feels great!

First game in quite a while that I have seen that is not triple buffered. Jarring being at 30 with sporadic jumps to 60. Luckily V-Sync off in this game results in extremely minimal tearing. With all settings maxed and motion blur at medium and FXAA I seem to get between 40-60fps with a [email protected]/680.

What are the biggest framerate killers? I would like to keep as much fidelity as possible and maintain a constant 1080p60.

I'm interested what kind of AA Alpha was using, because SMAA T2X seem to have more aliasing.

Everything on High and low Motion Blur and i have dips to low 40, high 30 in very heavy situation, other then that 50+ on GTX 560 and 1280x1024. I'll test how medium Water and Object will work, but i'm pretty happy with performance, because i should easily cap fps on 30 for SP and play on High/Very High with high motion blur :)

AA options:
FXAA
SMAA 1x/T2x/4x
MSAA 2x/4x/8x
and probably TXAA 2x and 4x, but i dont have Kepler card.

Netcode is again terrible on console, hit detection is horrible. Will be skipping this. Also looks pretty meh on console too.

I don't get why they even bother and make all this effort with the multiplayer when a basic thing like netcode/hit detection is so bad...like Crysis 2 this is also a clunky and laggy piece of shit on the 360.

Also the game looks decent I guess but I have the impression that the Crysis 2 beta looked better and the frame-rate was smoother...the SP will probably be even more "cinematic" this time on the consoles if the frame rate on this the beta is any indication. :S

Played one match, but everything on very high, 1080p, with FXAA ran smooth as butter. (Expecting SP to run much worse and have more effects enabled)
3770k
6950 2GB Unlocked Shaders
16GB Ram

That said I had fun the match I did play. Will play more when I get home from work.

Well im satisfied with performances

Airport works better, i got solid 55+ fps goes up to 65+, drops to 45 ocasionally but its like a second or two.

But on Museum i got 45fps, goes up to 55 max, but it can be low as 35 sometimes, also in 2-3 seconds

Very High
FXAA
1920x1080

Played an hour on X360. Some cases of lag in certain matches but overall I enjoyed it. Crash Site mode does seem to suffer from frame drops since it has loads of stuff happening but Hunter has ran very smooth. I have some videos uploading now for anyone who wants to see the visuals. I played the previous games a lot but avoided the multiplayer in Crysis 2 so can't really compare it.

does the beta have motionblur on 360? I am curious about that
