Crysis 3 Open Beta starting Jan 29th

Mostly every time I try to open Crysis 3, it says it has stopped working and shuts down. Anyone else having the same problem?

Nope, I do everything on a single PC :D

1080p@60 capture cards are too expensive, Mirillis Action! and Fraps can do a great job in capturing @ 60 FPS on most games.

Presumably with AA off? People with 690's can't even fully max this out 60fps+ yet!

I hear you with the 360 controller, tried for about 20 mins doing the same then quickly reverted back to my study to use k+m. I will totally be comfy couch gaming this in single player mode though.

Erm, I'm playing at 2560x1600 with SMAA x2 at a 60fps+ framerate with a GTX 690 (v-sync off to circumvent the mouse lag). With slight micro stuttering here and there.

Not initially though. Took me a while to get SLI working.

Augh! I just want to take this moment to let you know how much I appreciate what Gamersyde does. It's one of the few places that doesn't seem to BS, you just do what you do, and you do it well. I'd love to work at a place like that.

But for your information, we don't "work in some place", we (everyone at Gamersyde) work as volunteers from our homes, with our personnal hardware :)

Capturing doesn't incur that much of a hit when it isn't shit software like FRAPS. Try MSI Afterburner...

Oh shit Mirillis Action can use quicksync, that basically incurs zero performance hit, nice.

That's interesting... I assumed that you all worked in the same general area. Do you get paid or is it completely volunteer? I guess this conversation is more fit for private messages than derailing a thread...

It's completely volunteer, the only money we get from ads is to pay our servers and travels to shows.

I tried QuickSync with Mirillis Action!, there's no performance hit (or a little bit), but the quality does not match what we want (especially when it moves fast).
So I use the classic AVI capture, and then edit it.

But Fraps is not that useless, I always try both softwares when I capture games, and then I chose the one that performs better, it really depends on the game.

For example, the first two videos I made for Crysis 3 Beta were captured with Mirillis Action!, and the latest was with Fraps, because I always have Fraps running and was already in the game.
In Crysis 3 and BF3, they both perform well, almost no impact.

I tried MSI Afterburner's video capture a long time ago, I'll give it a shot next time, but in my memories, it did not perform well in 1080p60.

See, I just trial'd Mirillis and am about to purchase it! Fraps takes my fps down around 30-40% but Mirillis didn't event touch it! Thank you for that. Also, is the whole site run that way? or do they just accept volunteer vdieos as long as they meet the criteria?

Is there something I'm missing here? I've tried DXtory twice, second time using the lagarith thing.

lol it just so happens that you guys might just suck with a controller. I just recorded a random Crashsite match with a controller and with the Hud disabled and ended up at first place. I'd say the other players just kind of suck, but I've played multiple matches this way and get the same results. I place upper teir with KB&M or controller. Both seem to have plus's. (I find melee-ing with the controller much easier, for example)

:::As a side note, I play Half-Life with nohud once a month... I know, I'm weird. But I don't need a hud.

Also, that config Maldo put out works wonders. about 10+ to my fps.

We do make our own gameplay videos, or use official assets, but in the future there will be a community part where members will be able to publish videos using our tools.

I tried DXtory too, I remember it can write on several HDD when you chose a less compressed video format, but it still always impacted too much my games.
There's is several compression method, try them all to find something not that heavy on the HDD or CPU.
 
I really like the feel of the Crysis MP. It's like a good balance between COD style play and the movement based twitch shooters of old. Too bad it'll probably not be worth playing once the hackers get in :/

i was looking for another way to record and found out that MSI Afterburner has a recording feature too. I didn't really notice a performance drop at all. it also compresses on the fly so it won't eat up HDD space. plus it's free, unlike fraps.

I'm using Dxtory in 2560x1600 and getting 60FPS ( With the lagarith codec ). Plus the options in Dxtory far exceed that of most capture cards / hardware options I've encountered.

Used to record a ton of BF3 footage with it, worked flawlessly. Only problem with Dxtory is that it sucks at recording OpenGL games and the screenshot feature works like ass under SLI.

Dxtory for majority game recording, also being able to crop on the fly to 16:9, record at specific resolutions plus its advanced handling of audio streams is god sent.

FRAPS for screenshots / OpenGL recording / FPS counter

Bandicam for my 3840x2400 screenshots and its fantastic "rectangle on a screen" recording.

Again, that's all my personal experiences and choice.

Played it a lot yesterday. It's rather nice. Problem though. Has anyone lost levels? I was playing and then just out of nowhere the game stopped and I was back to level 10 right before the first suit reboot. And I had just finished rebooting twice. Hunter is kind of broken though. It was only fun when I was a hunter.
 
so after putting in some more time i've come to the conclusion the main reason this game looks kinda bad is the combination of the desaturated colors and the digital camera effect which gives that slight image separation look. it causes things to look softer than they should especially towards the edge of the screen where it gets progressively worse.

i like my games to look clean and crisp not like i have mild color blindness and cataracts

Yes. I was level 8 yesterday. But I'm back to 7 earlier.

Oh well. Everything's getting reset for release anyway.
 
So camo + shotgun + sprint + melee is overpowered as fuuuuck. Especially the lunge on melee is ridiculous. Racking in the kills at the moment.

The shotgun loadout survivor is pretty OP as well. I like hiding and trying to stay alive just because it's more fun, but there were times when I just went hunting hunters, no fucks given, with a 210 ping.

Melee has been such bullshit since Crysis 2. Thanks to that lunge and lock-on/aim-assist it provides, it's hard not to kill someone with it.

I have to say though, the kill confirmation sounds are incredibly satisfying. Be it bow, sniper rifle, pistol or melee.

I keep having so much fun with this beta. Just killed someone by throwing my shield at them. So many ways to annihilate your opponents! Can't wait for the full release. This is the most fun I've had with a multiplayer shooter in a while, and I bet the campaign is awesome as well.
