Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.1 Patch Notes Released

The needed to add scaling in 2.0 because you can play Phantom Liberty after 40% in the main game progression. What would have happen to those that finished the game and went into the expansion. They would have been overleveled by a great margin....
Yeah and you still end up overpowered anyway, only a little bit later (game is much more challenging in very hard and you really need to put thinking into your build).

It's for the best imho, and I think that level scaling is in line with the reality of the setting imho, there is no really in-lore reason why a mercenary in the starting areas should be less powerful than a Valentino in Heywood imho. This type of thing applies much more to a heroic fantasy setting.

Are there better ways of accepting enemy level scaling? Perhaps for 2nd playthrough of games instead?

I remember my first NG+ playthrough of Chrono Trigger. I was obviously overpowered when my level/skills carried over, but the enemies' level didn't change. It made the gameplay way too easy. So I personally wouldn't mind if the enemies in a NG+ were as strong as I was or close to it but never much more than that. Then it feels like I have some challenge when progressing another time through.

Dark Souls / Elden Ring/ Bloodborne approach is the best i think. The enemies become tougher but you stay the same mostly. So you have to optimize your skills and playstyle more and more for each NG+.

Level scaling makes leveling up pointless. Everything is as weak or strong as you it's not tougher or easier.

Surely someone will mod this out if it really bothers you.
Nah, i'm done with overhaul mods. Too bothersome to keep track of bugs and updating. It's another layer of "when it's the best time to start this game".

I'll still play it because now the city looks like it's going to be fun to roam around and explore at least. And i need something to bench my future PC build.

Understood. I think however level scaling in a NG+ might make more sense versus an initial playthrough. Then otherwise I see your point.

Oh hell yeah. That is some good shit. Kind of hoping for a digital foundry video on the new improvements to the visuals on PC. I know there were several things that were specifically called out where they couldn't have Ray reconstructions and certain GI implementations or something with reflections. I'm so glad to see the group has continued to refine it and make it even better. Very eager to see it in motion.

Hats off to them, they've made me do a complete 180 on the game.

I was very disappointed in how the game launched, particularly from an RPG progression and gameplay perspective. They've since rectified the vast majority of the issues I had and I've spent over 70 hours with the game since 2.0 and have had a blast.

It's good to see that there are some studios out there that still care about their customers and are willing to take critism on board instead of gaslighting them which seems to have become commonplace these days.

Same. I just platinumed the game yesterday with the final ending. Totally won me over

So, how viable is a melee-focused build?

it's very viable. I think I hated the game as much as I did on release because I insisted on building towards melee despite realizing it was utter shit way too late. They improved it greatly especially the mantis blades

O my god, what the fuck. They added so many things I've always wanted.

  • can now travel between the 19 metro stations located throughout Night City on 5 different lines
  • You can now listen to the radio while on foot (or while riding the NCART train) using the new Radioport feature. It is now also possible to adjust the volume directly in the radio window.
  • Sightseeing binoculars in various scenic spots have been added as another way to appreciate Night City's vistas.
  • V can now be pursued by gangs after taking an aggressive approach toward them during certain gigs and main quests.
  • Gigs that involve stealing and delivering a vehicle can now turn into a car chase and a combat sequence.
  • Decorative vendors spawned inside some kiosks are now functional. Please note that food stands are not impacted by this change.
  • It is now possible to sit at various bars in Night City and interact with the vendors.
  • Opened the previously closed-off highway that spans Westbrook, Santo Domingo and Heywood.
....and Ive been waiting for this exact moment to jump in. My patience finally paid off.

This plus the upgrade to Overdrive mode... my god!

They have to stop updating this game because every time they do I cant stop myself from doing another playthrough and right now I just don't have time for it.

There are too many other good new games I need to play. Goddamit CDPR why you keep doing this to me!!!

Question;

Should I buy the DLC right away, or is it something I should worry about after I'm done with the base game? I haven't started playing Cyberpunk yet, but now is a good time to start. I don't know if the DLC will impact the main game.

You don't get immediate access to the DLC unless you pick the start where it skips a chunk of the game to start you there. That said I think the DLC is best played alongside the rest of the game. The way CP2077 is structured, quests have a time gate so that events don't fire of one after another. It's meant to encourage you to do other questlines or explore instead of just rushing. If you don't touch the DLC until after you do everything else, you'll end up just skipping time over and over to trigger the next steps of a quest.

The DLC will be available to be played at the half way through the game, so having it installed when starting a playthrough is the best option

Panam is such a whiny bitch it just cracks me up at this point.

I invite her to my apartment in The Glenn just to check out the new feature, we sit and I tell her about Dogtown and that I did some crazy shit there. She starts mouthing off that "it's like Vegas, whatever happens in Dogtown, stays in Dogtown" and how convenient that all is. I then say "I'll tell you the story later" and walk away, and she yells after me "You better tell me!!". I then walk to the shower to check something and she yells "Uhhh hello? Where are you going". So I walk back and go to the kitchen and she says "Uh I'm right here?".

I just straight up left the apartment and ended the "date".

Don't think I'll ever do that again. I love 2077 to death but the romance stuff is goofy as shit. At least with Panam. The interactions are so weird, and Panam really isn't a great person to be with at all.

PL starts in the late very part of the game and you should complete it before finishing the game. It sorts of impact the main game as you can unlock alternate ending to the main game, some of the characters also have new dialogue related to the expansion. But overall everything new that was brought to the main game was a part of Patch 2.0 which was released as a free update

Wait, we can now use ray tracing with ray reconstruction, no need to turn on full path tracing?

Crazy amount of car chases with this patch. My V pissed off a lot of people.

Subway system is cool too. I hate to nitpick because it's awesome they even went the distance to add this, but it's a little immersion-breaking that you can't physically enter the station or a train, and that you can't stand, walk around or walk out of a train when arriving at a station. It's all very instanced. Understandably, but unfortunate.

Also, is it me or is the apartment in the megabuilding very dark during nighttime all of a sudden? Did they add a light switch I can't find or something?

I like her, she's probably the only healthy relationship in the game. judy bounces between unhealthy behaviors, kerry is self destruction personified, and river....why is he so bland and useless? panam grows during your time together. plus, she is stupid fine and funny as hell.

All that is fine IMO but I the fact that the doors of the train won't even open when it stops at the station is just stupid.

If this was the version that dropped on launch, it would likely have been considered one of the greatest games of all time.

I don't get it, of all the things they could have added these are...minor and really inconsequential - they're there just for the "atmosphere" and that's pretty much it :

- Trains : you can't walk, doors don't open, takes fucking AGES to arrive at your destination - it was added " 'cause it was shown in promo material", used it once, never gonna bother with it again.Waste of time (literally), GTA3 did it better 22 years ago ffs.
- Hang out with partners : You'll do it once or twice max never to bother with it again.
- Viewpoints : same as above
- Portable music player : Nothing major but...it's cool i suppose ?
- The new motorcycle physics and tricks/stunts are cool as are the car chases but other than that...

Meanwhile, car "dealerships" are still static menus via a Computer, you can't re-paint/re-spray your car, the garage in the megabuilding is still empty even if you have bought all vehicles and the patch introduced AGAIN some bugs which will have to be fixed yet AGAIN (for me it's visual bugs with multi layered clothing which pops-up/loads in when switching from 1st person to 3rd and gorilla arms tanking the loading time when switching clothing).

I mean, it's nice that they're adding stuff but...it's been 3 years, it's like people have short memories and have already forgotten what state this game shipped in (especially on consoles) , we've gone from "Oh how the mighty have fallen" and "man, fuck CDPR" to " OMG CDPROJEKT BEST DEV EVAHH !1!!" again, i hate to repeat myself but, it's been 3 YEARS since this game launched and only now (it kind of) resembles a finished product (hint : it still isn't).

Listen, bought it on an XSX 1+ years ago when patch 1.5 released and jumped in for a 2nd time on a PS5 for 2.0 a couple of months ago and i'm having a jolly good time with it since you can actually play it like an open-world game now (i.e : world feels way more alive than it used to due to better NPC interactions/A.I, proper police system etc) and i can't wait to jump into Phantom Liberty since - apparently - is even better than the main game but, sorry gents, i will never trust CDProjekt again.
Sure , their games have always been buggy as hell and in need of multiple patches so it's not exactly a new thing for them - let's not forget the OG Witcher being almost redone with new recorded lines etc, Witcher 2 bringing PC to their knees , crashing and freezing and getting patched many times and as for the Witcher 3...how many patches did it receive ? Tens ? even the "next-gen" version keeps getting patched due to all the performance issues and so on so forth but, to release a broken game like this only to keep fixing it for 3 years straight is just a new low, i'm just tired of this corporate BS of "pay now, play later" (3 years later in this case).

I don't feel like we should pat them on the back saying "good job lads ! "

Having said all of the above, If anyone has been hesitant about getting the game, now is a good time to start playing.

Kerry is arguably the funniest character in the game. What kind of dude bursts into the dressing room of a bunch of J-Pop stars to threaten them at gunpoint? lmao.

He's like a GTA character.

Yeah it's not like GTAIV where you can just walk into the station and have to wait for the train to arrive and get in.

You reach the entrance of the train station and you get a menu to select which train route you want to take, then a loading screen and you're in the train. It basically just loads you into the [literal] on-rails sequence. You can look around but do nothing else. When you reach a station where you want to get out, you stand up, get a loading screen and it drops you outside in front of the station.

It's very clear a lot of hard work went into this though, the interior of the cart looks great, a lot of audio, a lot of npc's doing their thing. It's just not interactive at all.

So, is the performance in this new patch worse than 2.0 for anyone?

I'm getting ~10fps lower on the exact same settings, wtf CDPR? How the fuck can they still cock it up after all this time?

Wasn't the ultimate edition supposed to get a lower price? I can see physical console copies for 60, but the steam page still has it at 90; it's "on sale" now but not from a newer base price 🤔

Its sad that even after all these updates the game stills seems to suffer from memory leak. After some time playing I start getting huge fps drops on some cutscenes and when I open the map.

I wonder when I can finally play this. They keep adding so much. Not complaining but it would be nice to have something definitive:

Really disappointed that the NCART just teleports you inside the train. The mod rebuilt the stations so you can walk inside the. That said, having actual people inside the trains is great for immersion and something the mod did not have.

There were updates to the raytracing so that's why turning everything on is more demanding than before.

It is 100% in CDPR's own interest to make Cyberpunk the best it can be. The better the game is, the more hype and sales Cyberpunk 2 will generate, even its still 6-7 years away

Well no, apparently I`m not the only one than has performance issues, so it's something they did. Prior to this update I had everything turned on also and only after this patch everything went to shit, with the exact same settings and despite they saying that there are performance improvements.

Everything was almost perfect in the 2.0 patch, it ran better than ever, just don't understand these fuckups.
