Top game, but I guess sony want more wokey jokey junk like Concord. Would have loved a part 2 but I guess it goes in Soynys too gritty bin along with Killzone, The Getaway, Socom and Resistance. I look forward to more family friendly shit instead like that Astrobot junk.

How exactly is Concord "woke"?

I hope the new Astrobot will be leading the charge in inserting Fun and Levity in a Sony made game.
Remember fun Sony? Characters smiling, laughing and enjoying life?

lmao XD KEK.

I'm glad you could provide nothing of an explanation.

I don't even think the game looks good.

Look at how literally tiny the thing you are complaining about is. You cannot even see it without zooming in.

Is OG Star Wars woke? C-3PO sure as hell had a gender.

I thought it was Bend that didn't want to do a sequel?

It's for the best. Days Gone will go down as a cult classic and the sequel will be an eternal "what if?". I've got little faith that Sony would even do a sequel justice, especially in terms of story and characters. There's a good chance them releasing a sequel could hurt the reputation of the original.
I need to know what the plot of the second one was, the secret finale was the best bit of the zombie plot in the entire game and they cockblocked us, i legit loved that final scene.

I had genuinely no idea what they were about to do story wise, horizon had a way more complicated plot and the incipit for the sequel was like a fucking single document about far zenith exploding in space, but i still nailed where they were going with the sequel.

I had absolutely no idea what bend was about to do with the plot, no idea at all, i'm so fucking mad that insomniac was enabled to make a dogshit sequel but bend didn't had this luck, the sequel was probably going to be an uncharted to uncharted 2 moment for the studio, people forget that bend was the smallest sony studio and it was their first big game, with more experience, more budget and manpower the sequel could have been several times better.

That State of Play could of had Venom, Days Gone 2, BluePoints game, Twisted Metal and whatever Naughty Dog was doing after TLOU2.

Insominaic gets tied up in S-M: Online
Twisted Metal gets canceled
Days Gone embroiled in inter-office conflict
Naughty Dog moved 400 people to TLOU Online instead of something new or TLOU3.
BluePoint didn't go to another remake after Demon's Souls. Getting the vibe from that presentation that they are a support studio now.

Proof? Absolutely no evidence of that. ND has multiple teams, and have been working on a new IP for years

Days Gone sounded good on paper but was boring bland as fuck. Nothing separated it out against other games. No market for brown games these days unless you're Naughty Dog.

Sony made 100% the right bet by scrapping it. Instead they are making...googled//..a Live service game ffs.

Still my favorite Sony game. Enemy encounters that are quite a bit more dynamic than their usual fair. Reminds me of the best experiences playing Skyrim when a dragon shows up in the middle of a fight but with much better actual action.

Maybe I’ll give it a play through on my new laptop.

You don't think they had people working on the Last of Us Online? That game was slated to be shown in the fall of 2023 by their own admission.

I thought they were working on a new IP and maybe they are but they were listed as a support studio on that company presentation. Maybe they are support while the new IP was being designed? Idk.

I enjoyed Days Gone. It wasn't the most original premise, but I had fun. Surprised at the level of hate it's getting.

Anyone know what the two main directors are doing now? Ross and the other fellow, the fat guy (Garvin?). Did they start a new studio, go their separate ways, or ...?

They posted that tweet a while back showing the four Christmas presents. Three of them represented previous remakes they had worked on. The thinking was the fourth one could be Bloodborne. If that's the case, and they haven't announced what they're working on, I wouldn't expect them to reveal it via that company presentation.

Funny seeing people bashing the director statment while at every State of Play we have countless GaaS being showed.

A good waste of money indeed.

The game was by far the most dynamic and less sanitized open world from sony, that's why it was the most buggy (but still less buggy that your average bethesda\ubisoft title).

Wasn't Days Gone eventually a great commercial success for Sony? But then shaky games like Godfall or Forspoken are being constantly green litted by corporations? I don't know guys.

I played it on ps5 and thought it was a good game, nothing extraordinary, kinda bland, but a good game nontheless. The whole bike gang thing didnt vibe with me but it wasnt a negative.
I dont know, its one of those games that you know that the sequel is going to fix all the little things and make it a goty candidate.

too bad.

May 30, 2025.

Days Gone 2 could be GOTY 2024 by this moment , people would know how the story of Main characters ended, and we would be developing DG3 for PS6 launch.

But there is nothing, those days are gone.

Didn't it sell mostly after they patched it but it was cheap on sale? I got it 6 months after launch for only $20.

I seem to recall that big Sony leak showing it sold something like 9 million copies. Similar Bloodborne. But I guess Sony (and most of the gaming industry the last several years) much prefer the bird in the bush instead of the bird in the hand.

I played it after it was done being patched on PS4 Pro so avoided issues. I don’t think I saw any bugs TBH.

It’s the right way to play big open world games that have any sort of complexity, wait lol

I wish Sonys talented devs would focus more on world simulations. TLOU games have great encounter designs (outside of the stealth which is just boring to me) but are marred for me personally by how much time is spent outside of those encounters doing what I find boring.

I played at launch on ps4 pro and i had like 2 minor bugs and maybe some stutter here and there when i was riding the bike, it was more optimized than pretty much every ubisoft or bethesda game i played BY FAR.

Sony doesn't like having glitch compilations for their games on yt, and they are proud of the polishing in their games (even if lately they haven't been flawless)

That means, no open world ala skyrimi\far cry where chaos can be around every corner and where silly shit happen all the time, days gone was the closest thing to that but still not there yet.

One one hand, it's nice to play fairly polished open worlds, on the other hand, their games feel too sanitized, you can't just go into a city in tushsima and kill everyone and cause chaos just to have fun, the only one where you could partially do this was infamous because there was the good\bad mechanic so hurting npcs was a game mechanic, but it was very superficial.

Or maybe their teams just don't wanna deal with the amount of extra polish that an open world ala skyrim would require.

Again, on one hand, i would like to see sony trying to do a skyrim, on the other hand, bethesda can't do a decent combat system or decent writing to save their lives so if making a skyrim steal too much time from the writing\gameplay process, maybe sony just chose to have different priorities.

being released in a terrible state.
Where does this FUD originate? I bought it as a blind purchase on day one and it turned out to be a fantastic game that made me interested in open world games.

I experienced a single glitch the entire time, which was the “motorcycle sound” bug that was literally fixed the next day.

It was less polished than the other sony games so it was treated worse than it deserved.

Mannnnnn, this has gotta be my favorite 1st party game in the last decade (that wasn’t a purchased).

Did Sony ever say or give a reason to why this was shit canned to the press?
I mean the real reason?

I don't really care what it is they're working on next, as long as it's:
a.) single player and not gaas
b.) has some cool traversal/vehicle mechanic like the bike if it's open world
c.) less of that patented sony/ubi "bush stealth-enemy camp-junk crafting-upgrade tree" stale ass gameplay loop nonsense

Also everyone wrapped up from head to toe like grandmas in wintertime, and over representation of minorities, which is the mojo everything now ever since BLM... except east Asians of course, can't let white people enjoy yellow fever.

I think it did Ok. But Sony's requirements/metrics for first party titles are huge. A 71% MC score just don't cut it.
