I'm quite pleased with the beta, played Sorceress (fire spec) and I'm lvl 25 and have pretty much done everything.
Except for the queue yesterday everything seem stable. Some stuttering but nothng terrible.
Got the worldboss right away with 4min to spare.
Oh I'm on PS5 btw.

I will get them leveled up more to make sure but the rogue is the best class so far by far for me. Other characters don't feel as bad ass. Plus it feels like I'm playing as a MK ninja in his own adventure. Lol

What time is it?
I think it's because it's more arcadey, but I'll trade that action for the added realism here. I love the look, sounds, and atmosphere so much more here. It's like Ninja Garden feels smoother and faster than Dark Souls but I prefer Dark Souls combat much more.

Not really sure about the arcade vs realism argument, but there are just small differences in D3 vs D4. Like in D3 as a Wizard, your beams would stick to an enemy almost like an auto-aim. Incinerate doesn't do that in D4 and feels less impactful because of that.

Considering I got in on Xbox on Friday at launch, then got booted, then couldn't get back in again all day........
Then I couldn't get in on Saturday morning....but created an alternate account and linked my Xbox account to it...then it was fine.
Once I got in it has been seamless. No disconnects, no wait.
Game is polished and fun. Looks deep and a lot of stuff to wade through....which is good!

I'm only level 9 Barbarian so far but overall I like the look and if feels pretty good. A few things

1. Music is less Diablo 1-3 and seems more classical...not bad...just different (to me at least)
2. I've already seen a few similar dungeons (recycled rooms), but at least there is stuff to clear out!
3. Nice that the console 'wheel' is gone and everything is very PC-like (as far as I know)
4. No 'stick-roll' from console is kind of missed, but ok using a button press. (well with barbarian it is a dodge)

Having fun though and seems polished.

I figured out why I wasn't feeling the sorc. He definitely feels better with a mouse. Rogue is amazing with a controller though.

Level 15 rogue so far, good stuff. Lots of legendary drops maybe just cause it's the beta?
Yes.

Co-op with the daughter was fun but fuck having to set up an additional Xbox account AND an additional bnet account. Just an absolute nightmare for something that should be simple as fuck.

Sorceress feels like d2 sorc! I'm running a build with frozen orbs and blizzard.

This game is massive, I'm level 16 and I don't think I'm anywhere near the end of act 1 and there seems to have so many things to do
Except frozen orb is like a lvl 2 unlock skill instead of 30 now. I just started is there a static skill in this game? The static/frozen orb combo in d2 was great.

As I see it, most people here think it's great. I actually thought I would be there as well. Let's see maybe it changes with Necro or Dudu. Lvl 22 Sorc is not it.

The world boss was unfortunately too hard. Most were also underleveled. But it was close.

I went from meh to I like it. I still don’t love it though. It doesn’t have that “it” factor that older Blizz games had.

I like how there are different animations for the dodge. My rogue has a small hop, a combat roll, or a spin. Idk if other classes have a variety.

With my lvl?
no idea i'm max level and run like a bitch around osgar reede.

also for now i put diablo 4 below 3 and 2. above 1.
the dungeons are really fucking mobile phone level lazy.

this is shit do not defend this...

the orange items do not feel special.
in d3 it changed my build,
in d4 it's alright but more like yellow+ not orange,
i kinda love the skill tree. demo is supposed to promote skill swapping and that shit will get punished in retail release (so i heard)
in d3 the game starts at level 70 so who knows how good d4 will get,
i can not judge the game right now.

but i can tell... how fun each class is.

Barb > sorc > rogue

So I went out and got an extra 2 sticks of RAM to get myself to 32 GB.
The game looks MUCH better with high res textures. Damn.
But it's stutter city, I can't imagine they don't fix this before launch (also not needing 32GB RAM lol).
Tried a bit of Barbarian. Overall I have to say skills are a little...underwhelming. Still fun but some things could have more impact/flash.

Yeah, it's super optimized in console with high res textures, hopefully the PC version gets the same treatment.

Got to level 25 with the Sorceress and started exploring, found some strongholds. Started witih Frozen Orb + Blizzard and changed Orb to Hydra. Got some nice legendary powers that made me very strong by adding Frozen Shield. Most of the time I can just stand there watching my 4 headed Hydra (+1 from item) and stacked Blizzard doing their thing while Shield takes care of enemy hits.
Played on the DualSense in my last session and feel no need to go back to mouse/keyboard.

Just got to 25 too. I need to check out frozen orb. Been rocking Chain Lightning along with hydra and it does work. Blizzard feels pretty underwhelming to me though.

I went full cold build, haven't looked at other skills that much. Resetting doesn't cost much, if anything so I'll toy with it once I'm done with act 1

Cold armor helps a lot also, you definitely need some protection skills in this game

Yeah it felt like that without my items that added 30% (iirc) damage to frozen enemies. Blizzard keeps that up for a long time while stacking damage, and Hydra works very well with it. Gotta say Blizzard did not do a lot on the World Event though, the boss just keeps moving and it's hard to hit with it. I was lvl24 when I fought it, though, and 2 or 3 of my best items came from that win. My build got way better then.
I followed Yoshichan Yoshichan 's advice and gambled head piece and pants that I was still using rares. Tried 5 times, 3 legendaries

Got rogue to 25 and beat act 1 today. What a blast !

Fired up a Barb and a sorc to about level 7 each.

Sorc is so god damn broken compared to Barb and Rogue, and Barb is so weak compared to the other two it’s head scratch inducing .

I would hope all 3 even out as the player levels , gears, and skills up. However, if not they need to up the damage output on Barb especially. The first boss you face took a long while but in sorc I ended it in roughly 20 seconds.

So having completed act 1, here are my thoughts.

1) The moment to moment gameplay feels really good but the classes feel unbalanced. Played a sorcerer first and just wrecked shit. Tried a rogue couch co op with sorc p2 and my core ability was hitting for like 6-15 compared to 70ish.

2) really love the focus on cinematic storytelling. It adds so much and the models/acting are great.

3) the constant global events and seeing people wander around makes the world feel alive in a way no Diablo has before. But maybe a little less somber because of it.

Overall I’m pretty fuckin stoked. Feels like a return to form for Blizzard and that’s exciting.

Bonus note: wandering around the goopy sickening gory dungeons reminded me a lot of Zerg creep and all of their organic structures. Made me really want another StarCraft. Or at least a game set in that universe.

Edit: ultimately decided to go with PC so I can play that shit on steam deck or future handhelds.

The first Act I boss fight is that annoying kind of boss fight.
It is where a boss throws everything and the kitchen sink at you. She summons a bunch of monsters and throws magic attacks at you that are hard to dodge. Then she does this in three waves.

Act 1 boss fight was actually fun, in comparison to past Diablo games (mindless clicking). There is still quite a bit of that here, however I would imagine the higher difficulties will be a nice challenge. Timing evades is necessary here.

Is Sorc overtuned or is Barb undertuned?

I feel like it's the Sorc being overtuned. The game become's so boring with the Sorc, you just blast through everything with no gear at all, there's just no point in going in search for optimization when you're already optimal from the get go.

Act 1 boss was fine. Typical don’t stand in fire Blizzard mechanics. Very similar to Diablo 3 boss fights. Didn’t expect to finish the content so quickly. I’m only level 15. Guess I’ll grind dungeons and wrap up some quests so I can check out the world boss later.

Here's a fun tip: don't even change gear in this game. Friend and I thought something felt broken and it is. Because of the scaling, you can ignore changing gear from the start and you can do level 20 content without difficulty on veteran.

This game is such a disaster.

The chain lighting on the Sorcerer is absurdly powerful. Still, it is handy for crowd control. You spam it when you get overwhelmed.

I have 32 ram as well it still stutters once in awhile. Imagine it’ll get fixed though

Hence why I said the sorc felt like d2, she was the rushing and magic item perfect build. I did switch from barb to sorc and yeah, barb is underwhelming

I have 32gb of ram, 5600x cpu, 3070 GPU and the game is on a nvme and I can't play with high textures or I get stuttering. Definitely a vram leak issue
