The copy and pasted dungeon tiles really annoy me...provided they largely work the same as D2 and D3, which I enjoyed when I was a lot younger. I think it is just a "today's me" thing.

As a FF14 player, I think D4's "FATE" and dungeon aren't enough for me to do day one.

Still in the early stages but yeah its quite fun smashing things with a big 2 hander. Just killed the second boss so not that far but can imagine once the end game starts that Barb starts scaling much better wtih gear. Haven't dumped all my points into a skill yet but the rends and Upheaval and other shouts that charge power, buff and heal; I can see are the ones to go for.

Cool, ill cycle those through my skills to use definitely at some point. Upheaval is pretty fun, but have not been using Rend or any of the shouts at all. Have been using bash and hammer ancients as my main two 'mouse skills'. Lots to try. I'm not super big into min maxing or whatever, just whatever feels fun, and doesn't get me killed too much :p

Makes plenty of sense to lots of people. If its not for you, then cool. No need to shit on others because they like physical games.
i'm shitting on people? lol ok then.

i'm just saying it makes no sense since you still gotta download patches/dlc even if you have the physical version. to be fair nintendo games require less patches but still imagine having to play what is on the disc/cartridges.

I gave the beta a 2nd go with my old favourite class, the Necro.....and I simply can`t get over how repetitive and generic everything besides the main quests is, with the dungeons being the worst offenders. The "grab things/keys/kill everything" to open a locked door seriously kills any motivation to continue playing for me, especially since those same crappy repetitive dungeons are a big chunk of the endgame with the sigil mechanic ( as far as we know).
It feels like Blizz didn`t know how to modernize the Diablo formula to bring it into the 2020s. If at least the world wasn`t just a dead static backdrop.
I still kinda want to play through the campaign once while ignoring all the generic filler content, but not for 80+ bucks....could just as well just watch a YT video of all the cinematics when the game is out though.

Plenty of sense:

- have something for your collection
- can buy, play, then resell for most of what you paid
- trade games with homies

This game is a very strong goty contender. It's awesome on so many levels.
I can definitely sink some time into this,

Thats the annoying part of this Beta, no Full Game progression means I don't wanna grind anymore, I like the taste, gimme the full meal dammit

Evolved1

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
Think I'm done until the game is released. Was gonna try some stuff, like world boss, but keep getting disconnected. Oh well.

Did you have that quest where the guy sent his kid to that Black Asylum? Seriously, what did he think would happen?

What a dumbass.

I tried all 5 classes to various degrees.
Barbarian - melts things less than others, but is more tactical and fun to play, more variety due to the weapon system, skills are quite visceral and satisfying
Necro - very powerful, but I played with summons, and mostly you just stand around watching your dudes or blowing up corpses, it's a cool character but might get repetitive
Rogue - Nice and tactical, feels squishy so you have to be careful, the abilities feel good
Sorcerer - I didn't level this up too much, but I got the gist of it
Druid - probably the most interesting character, awesome forms, magic abilities, and nice melee options, but didn't level too high

When the full game launches I'm in between Rogue and Barbarian, with third character as Druid. Sorcerer and Necro is what my wife usually plays. I may just give em all a go, it's really fun.
The only thing I hope they do before launch is fix the lag and performance, it was definitely not a smooth experience in any way. From a gameplay perspective it felt very polished, and I don't really mind if all they do between now and launch is just balance out the classes a bit, I can't see any glaring flaws in this, it's really an amazing accomplishment.

Edit: (assuming the rest of the game is of similar quality and they keep things fresh enough all the way through to the end)

Yeah this is my only major gripe this weekend. The experience is diminished when an always online game feels always online. The jitteriness, rubber banding, random invisible walls, and lag make what should feel amazing feel awful.

All this will get fixed in time of course. The invisible wall issue needs to be addressed before launch though. That’s unacceptable.

There are a couple of things I want to test during the beta involving the level 35 item level boss Osgar as well as the World Boss.

For Osgar, if you are in a party and if at least one person is in the area when the boss dies, the loot drop will be saved for all people in the party, even if they're in another area. That means that for farming purposes, we could run multiple areas solo while in a party in different areas, and as long as one person is at Osgar (even AFK), all those loot drops will be saved for everyone. Even if you miss a legendary drop, it'll be automatically saved for you and will be waiting for you in your stash.

For the World Boss, it is possible to fight her multiple times per pop. All you need to do is to town portal out, then back in to try to force an instance reset. Or to town portal to town, then run back to the spawn area. Depending on the number of other players around, this could reset the instance too. Also, changing the World Tier difficulty could do this. I think we could party up, kill Ashava, disband the party, then each person reset their instances to find the boss again. When one person does, reinvite everyone back to the party to bring everyone to that person's instance with Ashava.

We could use the NeoGAF clan to organize this. @dorkimoe Spukc Spukc @Yoshichan thoughts?
I tried to fight Ashava multiple times on the first spawn at 10am. I got the legendary drops 3 times lol.

The players at the world boss in my session were awful. I was the only one able to stay alive to do consistent damage to the boss lol. Eventually said nope and TP’d out.

I mean, "Oh gee, I will blame my kid for something and get him sent to a hell hole. That will be ok."

What on earth was he thinking?

Been playing thorns necro. Don't know how to upload an image to this forum but I'm pretty proud of my transmog. Didn't get to do world bosses yet today because wind has power flickering on and off.

Thorns necro feels ok. got my thorns up to 550. Definitely feels weaker than my sorc but its more afk. I just put my two curses on, keep my pet empowerment up, and use the golems aoe taunt. Got decompose so I can generate corpses on boss fights and +10% minion damage.

(I guess that works lol)

Beat Ashava again. We had two level 11s and no sorcs but we got him with 2 min to go, I logged on with my rogue which is the only level 25.

World boss is absolutely infuriating. There’s zero reason anyone under Level 25 should even be allowed in. Three level 16s, some 11s and 18s this shit is not fun.

The gear sure looks awesome in Diablo 4. Like never seen before quality. Nice transmog.

Honestly, I thought D3’s beta (introduction of act 1) was ten times better than this beta. I sunk 100s of hours into D3 and very aware of its shortcomings in regards to endgame and itemization but I feel like it played better than this and made a better first impression. I replayed the d3 beta over and over again and it got me pumped for the release … d4’s beta has cooled my excitement for the game a lot and I’m considering canceling my preorder and waiting for reviews/impressions of the mid and late game. Hate to be a downer but just a little disappointed in what I’ve seen.

Played this for 10 minutes and then deleted it. If you can’t impress in the first 10 minutes you don’t deserve my playtime. This shit is Cooke cutter and as play-it-safe as I’ve seen. Visuals looked decidedly last-gen on PS5 and nothing about the design captured my attention or imagination.

Huge fan of Diablo 3, hundreds of hours into that game for reference.

I got the legendary aspect for Necros that auto-corpse explodes when using blood mist. It turns a low tier skill into god tier. Farm until you find it. Trust me it's hilarious.

I gotta say Sorc and Necro are way too powerful. I keep seeing people shit on Barb and Druid and saying they need a buff. I hope they don't get buffed because, even though they are substantially weaker, they are far more fun to play and actually require you to pay attention and interact with mechanics. Sorc and Necro are basically auto-pilot, braindead. I'm all for feeling powerful but there is a difference between progressing and getting stronger and just being so powerful that it's boring to play.

It's beyond broken. No way it stays like that on release. You are immortal during blood mist, and can get 100% combat uptime even single target. Then you have the damage.

Parody of actual AJUMP23
I decided to reroll as a sorcerer. I always play tank characters. But the sorcerer was fun. Gave her red hair and called her Redacast.

The Necro is super OP but once you get the gloves and pants that allow you to summon 4 more total skelies the Necro becomes just busted at least up to 25

Just not sure this game can hold my interest long term though

I just reached lvl 15 but the game tells me that the mainquest for Act 1 is done. I thought it will take longer for Act 1.
What should i do now?

Idk, i may be in the minority here but i love the graphics on PC, actually.
It looks pretty good considering that it's a Diablo game but it runs like dogshit. My 5800X3D and 3090 should have zero issues but it's stuttering and dropping frames all over the place. I'm going to wait until it's released and see how the launch code runs before I commit to buying.

You should consider upgrading to an XSX. Running great for me!

Played for about 45 minutes and had a good time. Googled and learnt that progress doesn't carry over so have no real motivation to keep on going.

Love how gritty it feels compared to D3. Looks great too when playing, but the ingame cutscenes look like garbage because clearly their engine wasn't made with close up character models in mind.

Also zero queue on PS5, I was in immediately.
