Dragon Ball executive producer Akio Iyoku recently opened up about Dragon Ball Daima in an interview with Mantan Web ahead of its grand finale (as translated by @Venixys on X), and here he was asked about the future of the franchise overall. With this newest project coming to an end without any potential new releases on the horizon just yet, Iyoku shared a very promising update for the anime’s future. Teasing a further expansion of the franchise, Iyoku teased there was no doubt that the franchise will keep going for “decades to come.”

I doubt they would let it die, it's a globally famous franchise.
The quality of the series on the other hand would be questionable. With Akira death (rest in peace, legend), I doubt they would have a quality control over the other guy writting.

Not surprising but also not really exciting.
Super mostly sucked despite Toriyama still being involved (I did like the Superhero movie though), can't imagine it getting better now that he's gone.

Dbz is the most popular anime of all time, that it will continue to have products made for it isn't really surprising, or news really.

On the one hand, I love Dragon Ball.
But on the other, it seems they are milking the series for all it's got. And my fear is that they are going to run it to the ground.

This is one of those series that I don't think needs to have generational newness like Power Rangers or Ninja Turtles. What they can do is instead do annual/every two year movies with characters and some new ones as side stories, but not entirely new on going series.

Unless they make Gohan lead, then I will change stance.

Or maybe teen Pan, I guess.

The manga for Super has finally moved onto Trunks and Goten as teenagers which opens up a lot of potential, hopefully they keep the quality in check somehow, we don't want a Super Dragon Ball Heroes story but even then, Toriyama was the most involved with Daima and a lot of folks think that's a disappointment.

DBZ’s frieza namakin saga was incredible, cell android saga felt like ancient dragon ball, buu saga felt weird, dragon ball super is amazing, Gas, Goro, Granola, Black Frieza (who they can’t seem to find) are likely new episodes.

Not really jiving with the latest Dragon Ball manga. I have yet to watch Daima, but reading Super was quite disappointing honestly. The fights aren't interesting and I personally dont really like the art style of Toyotaro. I think it's okay to let the series take a rest.

The biggest minus in Super is the terrible art, most of the time during fights, you have no idea what's going on.

I know Toriyama is a genius, but going back and reading the regular Dragonball to Z, his paneling and framing for sequence of actions and fights are so smooth, you can easily follow what's actually going on in between everything.

All of Toriyama's story telling has been bad since he returned. His slice of life and comedy chops are still strong, mostly, but his character work and plotting is still as scatters hot as it was during Buu. Now maybe that's on the people following his outlines but the result is the same. I think better dragonball stories can be told even if we're going to be missing toriyama's creativity and comedic talents.

Dragon Ball (the manga) from the beginning to the marriage of Goku and the birth of Gohan is amazingly good, it would have been the perfect happy ending to stop there (goku is married, has a son, finally won the tournament, piccolo turning good). I don't dislike the 'Z' part but it is not as good.

DragonBall is not for me anymore and I think it's ok. My son is 9 and he watches the new series. He has also seen all of Z and GT. Makes me smile when he watches it.
As it should be. Those of us who grew up with the manga are middle aged at this point. Although DragonBall is works for all ages in a way, it has always been childish (which is core to its charm).

I felt like the pacing was very inconcitent. And it was especially weird that they decided to skip things like Frieza coming back and Broly. Two things that are canon and core the ongoing story. You can tell that the art isn't as good as Toriyama, but the writing is what has been taken me out of it. But I've only read up to the half-way point of the Moro arc.

I really enjoyed Super, but Daima doesn't interest me. I'm always ready for more though as there'll be stories I am interested in eventually.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
Last weeks episode of Daima had one of the best fight scenes in the entire franchise, this weeks should be even better.

Can't say I'm interested. I'm not sure I'm the audience for this show, and I haven't liked what I've seen of newer stuff. The art's a big step down in detail from Z, as is the music (the Japanese scores are usually passable). Characters have been worse too - too goofy. Last point started showing through at the end of Z and didn't change in a way I liked.

They never had quality control, even the Manga hardly did - tons of dumb shit in there that's made even the Anime counterpart jealous, sometimes.

I’ll watch whatever they put out as long as it’s consistent. I enjoy the new stories.
It's literally not consistent already, and Daima made it even more obvious.

Z, yes, while the modern stuff would never be even in 5% as popular if it wasn't for the old series.

Like, I enjoyed the Super anime, but I feel the franchise shouldn’t go past wherever the Super manga ends. Toyotarou was at least approved by Toriyama and worked with him for quite a while, so him continuing to write Super is fine by me, but if we start getting total randos as the main writers, fuck off with that.

I just want to see the latest manga arc which people have said is one of the best arc in DB to be animated like in ToP or Daima style.
Its gotta happen even though there were license issue or something. Everybody loves money.

I want to see the Jiren revenge arc, that alone will be a win for the Dragon Ball Z brand, but since the death of the creator, the weird kid goku thing, some poorly made games etc. things are looking pretty grim.

My solution I’d say is a granola tv show, moro, gas and black frieza season.

I like all of Dragon Ball, new and old. Sure, some of it is attributable to nostalgia, but I stand by the majority of it being the absolutely rich world Toriyama created. It's so silly, so 80's, so Kung fu everyone is a martial artist, there are talking animals living among humans, dragons and magic wishes.

Anyone with a shred of writing skill (and they'll surely go with people who have more than that) you'd be able to tell stories in the Dragon World for the rest of your life. There are so many possibilities just in the way the universe expanded with the Super lore. If it sucks, I won't watch/play/read it. But if it doesn't, fuck yeah, I'm in.

I’ve not watched much since Z. I think the nostalgia might be required for my enjoyment or the new series I’ve dipped my toe into just aren’t as compelling. Mostly, I probably miss hand drawn animation with every modern cartoon I watch.

Still, I’d be interested to watch the best the franchise has had to offer since Z.

Dragonball is dead is every way that matters.
Everything after "Wrath of the Dragon" is either crappy fan fiction (GT) or nostalgic cash grabs (Super, Daima)
