FUCK YOU, YOU FILTHY SON OF A CUNT
Yeah that one was quite difficult .
I got that one first and then tried venom hot lap 2...which was a breeze compared to this
FUCK YOU, YOU FILTHY SON OF A CUNT
No probs, I enjoy it It's a lot less work than the challenge rallies we used to do and mean we can cover the full range of events in the game.
I think the restart / attempt counters were seen as a negative thing (look he took 150 attempts!) but I've always wanted an option to limit the number of tries you can have but I doubt it'll be added unfortunately.
I like the split time idea, at least you can see where you are losing time or if your on a good run.

What would be the point of limiting the number of tries when you can just replicate the combo in single event and practice just like you would in the actual Challenge.
I just don't know how to go faster on this challenge.
Edit: for what it's worth and as salty as it sounds, I absolutely despise race challenges.
I don't like the current GAF challenge that much for several reasons:
1) You've got the get past the pack of cars at the start of the challenge. Because of the randomness of the AI it is not always possible to pass them quickly which leads to regular restarts before you even reach the first corner. This is annoying because you don't have control over the situation.
2) You don't really know how well you are doing on a particular run as there is no ghost or other indication that tells you your current position against the number 1. When in doubt you need to keep racing the full 2.5 minutes just to discover you are 1 sec behind. This consumes a lot of time. If there was a good indicator you could restart the race earlier and make the whole challenge more efficient from time investment perspective.
3) Because there is no ghost or comparison tool it takes a long time to find out were to improve. I know now were i am losing my second but it took to long to find out. Also from a time investment perspective it would be nice to have a means in this type of challenge to discover quickly how and were you have to improve.
Just drains a little bit of the fun out of the experience. ( it also does not help that my wife broke her leg and i now have to run a 2 kid household beside my regular job so i might be a little grumpy)
Agree on all of these and they are why I almost always skip race challenges.
I agree completely, it's not just you.
Had 5 go's at it and decided it's not worth it trying to spin the "what will the AI do next time" rng wheel.
150 is nothing to be ashamed of.....it is at the low end of my retry spectrum

Enough practice and there is a very slim chance you would screw up.
EDIT: I also think having limited tries just gives more experienced & skilled players even more of an advantage because we are naturally going to perform better on those first limited tries..
Well in all motorsports you can prepare on the same track before the proper event. But yeah, I also think that mostly the best players would benefit from that. Like for instance I can make a dumb mistake on a track with everything memorized... sometimes because I lack enough skill and sometimes when the stress and the frustration gets to me. ;D
Something like this would be better when introduced as separate elite GAF challenges, along with the obligatory hardcore mode for all the participants.
Retry limit option could only be available in random events and you'd have to set it before the (random) event itself. I think it would be a nice feature, especially coupled with an added option to string multiple challenges together.
Yeah the problem is in setting the challenge in the first place - it wouldn't be fair for the original challenge to be set on the guys 50th run then setting a limit of 5 attempts to all the participants so setting it before the host runs the event is a good idea
I forgot the other problem; track/time/vehicle/weather information from such challenges would have to be hidden so recipients couldn't go practice before their official attempts. It wouldn't completely eliminate the possibility of "cheating" but still.
C'mon driftboys.
There is a "gamey" thing in the last drift zone, after you come to a stop or close to a stop and start to drift again, you will get points really fast from the second/third drifts.
Yeah....i hoped they fixed these kind of things with the last update. I still think crashing into a wall or going all wheels off the road should invalidate the whole run. Also 1 drift per zone, not stitching multiples together.
Tomorrow we're going to be revealing plenty of news on the Feb update, but I'm here right now to ask for your assistance!
We're looking to resolve a number of key exploits in DRIFT MODE and we believe we've fixed most of them for a future update. However we want to make sure we caught all of the edge cases.
So if you have any examples of exploits/cheats that are known to you, then it'd be great if you could share them - ideally with videos so we can see it in action. Just so that we're sure we've caught them all Thanks.
Excellent number of participants in the weekly challenges lately. And many are really good too. Looking forward to the drifting event, now that hardcore mode has arrived. It's late so just posting the results for now and I'll reply to some posts tomorrow.
Week 5 and our 5th different winner - Makikou swept in at the last moment to deny Duallusion the victory with Vagabone claiming the 3rd spot. I thought this was gonna be Vaga's week at the start as he led on a few occasions, but then Duallusion looked to have it sewn up until the end.
In the leaderboard the top 3 have held station with Ainsz gaining slightly on Sirenty in 1st and pulling slightly away from SigSwat551 in 3rd. Maki's win has boosted him up to 4th with Vaga the highest placed without a win in 5th. PDogg has dropped down to 8th but another drift event win would put him back in the mix at the top.

.
That fix was planned for a future update though, wasn't it? I don't think it was supposed to be in the current one.
Lots of hate for the race challenge!
It wouldn't work because of practicalities like the afformentioned.
However what they could do is let you have as many practice runs as you like, but you only get to submit one real attempt. That way you can practice as much as you want but the actual run has to be as good as you can make it, and you only get one chance at that.
That's what a lot of score chasing games, and especially roguelikes tend to do. You can often practice on the daily level, but you only get one opportunity if you want to submit your score, and that decision is made at the start of the run.
Ah...tnx. My mistake, somehow i thought it was going to be fixed in the last update.
You should make an endurance race too, shannow.

Caterham, VUHL07 or Rimac it is then, good sir!I'd be interested as long as it won't be some car with a shitty handling.
One of my runs.

As you can see, it is a bit cheesy in the last zone. Imo you should lose points from hitting wall/going outside of the track just like in normal races, 100 or 250. Stopping pretty much kills your run anyway unless you are in the last drift zone. Having time limit like in the bike events could help but you would have to have different limits for all the classes.
Current personal best (and possibly final) run.

Can we have Aventador in the endurance challenge, please ? Or Aston Martin! Yeah! Aston Martin on any of the Scottish tracks
Hey DHC, remember this from a couple of weeks ago?
Can I get an invite to these challenges?
Ok, spammed the challenge to all on Shannows spreadsheet (lemme know if you didn't get it).
10 lap race round Loch Duich in the Aston Martin One-77, 1 ai driver on rookie so they won't be a issue.

I can get behind this Combo.

OK opinions please - do we abort this challenge due to the issues Mallard has shown here? If we abort do we run the same challenge with a less powerful car if that prevents the cheesing issues at the end? Or is that event just a write off?
A new challenge already? I hope that doesn't mean the other one is null and void, just when i did reasonably well for once. >.<
Please, leave it. I'm 7th. SEVENTH!! ;D It's like the best score for me so farThere's been no votes to abort so we'll stick with it

Probably. Servers were down when I was playing in the middle of the night.I got it. Maybe the servers were acting up or something.
OK Tuesday night is live rally night! This week it's Canadian tracks, the event kicks off at 9pm but please be online before then to give yourself a good chance of getting on the server (12 player limit remember).
Plan is to run through 7 events, circuits and P2P tracks. Let me know either on here or via psn if you want in and I'll reserve you a place - if we have spare places at 8.55pm then we'll send invites out to friends lists etc.
Last week was really good fun so try to make it on if you can
Yep, I'll be there at 20:40 GMT. Great races today.Me,Vix and DavidRicardo are in for tomorrow .
