Woman using gun's laser sight to play with cat shoots friend

Authorities say a Wisconsin woman accidentally shot a friend while using the laser sight on a handgun to play with a cat.

The woman, who a witness said had been drinking, picked up the handgun, “turned on the laser sight and was pointing it at the floor to get the cat to chase it,” when the gun went off, the complaint filed Thursday said.

The man, who was standing in a doorway, was shot in the thigh, authorities said. He left and went into another apartment, where police found him after responding to a 911 call, the Kenosha News reported.

A tourniquet was applied to his leg to stop the bleeding before he was taken to a hospital. There’s no word on his condition, but authorities said he was facing charges for violating bond conditions that prevented him from having a weapon.

1. Dude wasn't allowed to have a gun, buys one with a laser sight and decides to show it off.
2. Gives it to a girlfriend who was drinking and she thinks it'd be fun to play with her cat with.
3. Dude gets shot in the leg with his own gun.

If he bought it from a licensed firearms dealer that person should permanently lose their license. Our church had a glass door shot out a couple of weeks ago because a guy was "shooting possums" with his 9mm. Thankfully it was when no one was at church.

I am glad people have the right to own a weapon, but a lot of people have no sense of responsibility that comes with owning one.

That is the absolute truth. I've got a new neighbor who lives behind me. They like to do some shooting. On the one hand, the hawks and possums have vanished. On the other hand, I'm not entirely sure which direction they face when doing target shooting....

Yeh Im gonna say Im glad its a rather more stringent process in these parts. Im not anti gun, just anti the idea of them more prevalent than brain cells.
