Ex-GTA 6 dev says game’s realism will “Blow People Away”

According to the dev, the team is focused on bug-fixing and ensuring the game works. As an example, he mentioned how some players try to “mess around” and complete missions differently – something that the devs need to account for.

He was also asked what he’s most excited about when it comes to GTA 6’s release now that he’s on the outside looking in.

(segment begins at 45:16)

“I think seeing where it was when I left and playing that final version and how much, if anything, has changed. How much things have changed,” he said. “I was privy to a lot of new things, content and story and stuff. I just love to know how that’s evolved and how it’s come out the other end.”

When asked if players will be “surprised” by what Rockstar is going to unveil, Hinchliffe indicated that the realism in particular will set it apart.

“You only have to look at how every game Rockstar has done has evolved in some way. You could argue that every element of the game moves forward in terms of feeling more realistic and people acting and behaving more realistic as every game is iterated through each cycle.”

“It will blow people away. It will sell an absolute ton as it always does. People have been taking about it for ages after GTA 5 and I’m really excited for people to get their hands on it and play it, just because I think [Rockstar] has raised the bar again just like they always do.”

It definitely will because it'll be the biggest game of the 21th century so far. I hope they keep the quality of how the trailer looked for the whole game.

I doubt it’ll run at 60 on the Pro. I’m guessing that the bottleneck will be the CPU, which hasn’t really changed.

Rockstar are fucking magicians. I believe they could get it to run at 60 even on base consoles. Just look what they did with RDR2 on the dogshit xbox one

I have concerns but I’m always a Debbie Downer so I’ll just take my leave. =/

Well considering the length of time people have waited for another GTA, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to have concerns especially these days when it’s more of a surprise something is genuinely great rather than a let down.

Means it’ll be boring as shit like all of their games since GTA IV. I bet you’ll have to refill your gas tank, go to the doctor for check-ups, attend court hearings, pay parking fines, and other mundane crap that isn’t remotely fun, just like with RDR2.

But watch every reviewer rate it a 10/10 before they have even touched it.

ha same

RDR2 was an achievement but not that fun, and GTA5 was a big step backward from GTA4 IMO, so im not excited for GTA6.

those were both last-gen games, so modern hardware should allow devs to juice it up. happy to wait and see.

I wonder if we’ll be able to play in 1st person again, or at least be able to drive in 1st person?

Also, with it being a modern Vice City, I wonder how good the soundtrack will be? I hope there are some old school radio stations because there isn’t much contemporary music that I really enjoy.

Console gaming, baby :messenger_sunglasses:

it damn well better. With that budget and team size, plus the amount of time they had.. it better do things other games can only dream of.

No doubt it will. One of only 2 devs I actually trust to raise the bar in the entire industry

Rockstar is not your usual woke dev, RDR2 on PS4 is a testament to that.

I’m sure they’ll do a proper base PS5 version, best console version will be on the Pro of course.

I don't doubt it. They generally do a solid job when it comes to major games on new hardware. RDR2 was a benchmark for quite a while, IMO.

For $2B it better.
$2B and over a decade. PS2 San Andreas cost $20mil and took 2 years.
Two decades later Rockstar hasn't made a better looking GTA than SA and the best any GTA game can hope for is to be "as good" as SA.
When Sony puts PS2 HW on a new PS Rockstar will ship a new GTA on PS2 and sell it for $60 just like GTA6 on PS5.
A budget of $100 mil and 4 years would make it the most expensive PS2 game ever made while costing less than half of what PS3's GTAV cost.
2 GTAs on PS2 > 1 GTA on newer PS HW.

This is gonna be a Pro showcase for sure.
Same way PS4 GTAV is a PS4 Pro showcase.
