Just got all caught up. Man I always miss all the fun stuff.

Never said you did either. I'm talking about Code Geass specifically here.Never said it was an universal requirement, since the show can be enjoyed in multiple ways after all...but my point is that a purely "ironic" enjoyment implies enjoying something in a way that goes against the intended purpose, which is what I question in this particular case, since IMHO what you highlighted isn't necessarily some sort of horribly unforeseeable circumstance the creators produce out of incompetence, not realizing that people would find something funny.
Has anyone hated on Haibane Renmei?
To all of those hapless souls still continuing on with SAO, I salute you.
Boring as fuck. I should try to watch it again but I've fallen asleep twice while trying to watch the first episode. First time I was tired so I brushed it off. Second time was in the middle of the day.
SAO isn't even a good hatewatch anime. I don't know why anyone would do it other than blunt curiosity into what is popular right now.
Sometimes I wish I watched bad anime with the rest of you so I could understand this hatred.
Why don't you?

You can start with:
Blood-C
Glass Fleet
Yami
Arjuna
Happy Science stuff
I guess I just don't find it very fun. Even the discussions around its "absurdity" are fairly mundane within the anime world. Like this week it was a bunch of posts about tentacles with nothing to really say about them, just that they exist, and are in this world. Same goes for the old stuff. Oh, there's dumb incest stuff? Big deal, I've slept through that plot before.Cuz it's fun for a variety of reasons.
This show asks us to revile one guy for sniffing someone's hair at the same time that it encourages incestual fantasies.
but there's nothing wrong with incest?

Because he has better shit to do like watch The Big O!

Garzey's Wing
Yami

Happy Science stuff
Does not compute.
The secret is that those are all good

Perhaps I am just weathered and have grown callous to that sort of stuff, but I don't even consider myself very familiar or knowledgeable when it comes to anime compared to many other posters here. I can't imagine how many times they have seen this stuff over and over again. SAO is just kind of a bland show.
Those are enjoyable and entertaining shows that animegaf pretends are bad because then they feel better about liking them (?) [citation needed]Well because-
-precisely.
Okay, I suppose I could-
-Check-
-well then why did you suggest it?
Anyway:
Gundam SEED Destiny 18
In which Lunamaria Hawke spends the entire episode sucking Athrun's dick and he doesn't give a damn because he's too busy reminding Shinn what a goddamn idiot we all think he is.
That's why "transcendent" is a better term to use, as for certain shows traditional notions of objective quality don't necessarily apply.-well then why did you suggest it?
Well, at this point many wouldn't say the show is fun. It's moreso that we get to talk about it with people and laugh, hence it's fun.
And if people are able to enjoy Code Geass unironically, then I don't see how you can credit the creators for any reaction, intended or unintended.

I'm not even going to get into how offensive the sister character is. This show asks us to revile one guy for sniffing someone's hair at the same time that it encourages incestual fantasies. It's a loathsome story that aims to inspire muckfeeding hypocrites.

I just wanna feel included in the computer burning. People've been stopping watching Psycho Pass and SAO for the last fifty pages, and I'm off in my little corner playing with blocks and chanting "Big-O! Showtime!"
I feel apart.

Remember, cousins are totally kosher in Japan.

You should read the SAO manga.
Cousins are legal in most western countries.

...not first cousins mind you.

There are certainly valid instances of "ironically" consuming a piece of media, namely enjoying a work for the opposite reason that it was intended to be enjoyed. The product cannot exhibit any self-awareness of whatever quality makes it unintentionally entertaining, because it is usually the opposition between how the work portrays itself and how the consumer interprets it that creates the "irony". This entails examples like Garzey's Wing for its terrible but entirely sincere dub and Happy Science films for mockery of the absurd religious concepts that are seriously and reverently depicted by the films themselves. It would not apply to things like Code Geass or Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito, for whom their absurdities are varying degrees of deliberate. Basically, the ability to watch something ironically hinges on how the work presents itself, not solely the fact that the consumer is enjoying the work for being "bad" or "absurd".

You will always have a crowd ready to join in with you if you watch a show on The List.
I promise that this is the last time I go off topic with P4 discussion, but you'll find it relevant to this conversation that I just capped this in P4G a couple of days ago:
yeah...
It is shockingly close to the original Japanese. In that, Marie asks what "bifuteki" is, and you have the option of explaining that it's short for "biifusuteeki." She responds that that doesn't make sense because the "steak" part of it is obfuscated, and suggested it would be better to call it "fusuteki."
Enjoying something "ironically" is mostly bullshit. If you like something for its bombast and absurdity, you're just enjoying it, the qualifier "ironically" adds nothing.
It's just a way of saving face. It's also not a correct use of the word' ironic', which just makes it worse. Come up with a different way of expressing that thought.
Mars of Destruction was accidentally posted in your list. Also, how have you not seen Wicked City?
CorvoSol: here is the most current copy of THE LIST devised by Hito and me. It's incomplete and there are a few things that either need to be watched to confirm LISTworthiness or are otherwise marked with "caveats", but here you go:
