I wasn't sure why Nier was getting a sequel, but if it's #1 on the PS3 list then it's probably a cult hit at least?

PSX: Doko Demo Issyo and a Harvest Moon game. This got my attention.
And the Sega Systems, basically every Sakura Taisen game is in there. i wonder if this had anything to do with the type of anime in the mid 90's?
Well, 90s is the golden age of Japanese anime. There are lots and lots of classics from these period. This could be a factor that Sakura Taisen succeeded. However, we should not underestimated the originality of the game. The theme is interesting, integrating secret special force, giant robots with theater troupe (probably inspired by the famous Takarazuka Revue). It combines visual novels and SRPG with dating elements, good anime direction and a masterfully crafted theme song. Bacially, I think these elements are unique and original at the time it was released that made the game a huge success.
It is a shame that the majority of the series (except Sakura Wars V) were not localized, so it is not popular among western people. The gameplay for the first entry is, IMO, quite weak. But the third entry is one of the best games I have ever played, and I think SEGA should really continue the series as there are many fans out there waiting for a sequel. While people were saying that last year was a year of dream, I am still waiting my Sakura Taisen and Valkyrie Profile sequels. If these two were announced, I would have finally lived my year of dream.
MGSV on #1, what the fuck.
HOW?
V didn't just kill the series, it pretty much killed RED. Had it done better here, we might have seen the earlier games localized, but the scorched earth hostility of the Sakura Wars community against V ensured that was never going to happen.
Japan really like RPGs japan players also have bad tastes. The gameboy was more then a Pokemon machine
I haven't yet played V, but I have heard about the hostility from the fan base. Is it really that bad?

They're not sampling anything. It's open to any reader to cast their votes.Did they sample a single highschool? WTF is with those vote counts? I feel like you could poll the lurkers of a Wario64 thread and get higher numbers.

Thread title seems to suggest that Famitsu did a general poll of Japanese players, not just a poll of its readers. But that may just be me reading too much into the title.
Wonder what percentage response these numbers represent (it wasn't mentioned in the Kotaku article). Because they seem like moderately low response numbers.
V being the most fondly remembered FF on SNES makes me happy.

Fun to think that Soul Hackers got more votes than IV and SJ(deservedly). Surprised SMT SFC isn't on the list.
Japan knows the superior Persona game on PS2.
