Congratulations! I was about to advise you to equip armor with “Survival Instinct” (which lets you survive a fatal blow by leaving you with 1 HP), in case, in the final stretch, the boss used the swords before you defeated it, so you could survive the attack and finish it off right after. In any case, it’s a pretty useful strategy for some bosses later on.

PD: The buffs with Ez and the debuffs on bosses are essential in this game. But even more essential are abilities like Concentrate, Desperation, and Charge; using them is almost mandatory to overcome the bosses.
Thank you! And I appreciate the tips. So rare to find a JRPG like this that is pushing hard on the tactics side.

I could not find an option in the demo to play in Japanese with English subs. Can anyone confirm if you can in the full game? I really didn't like the English dub.

Looking forward to playing this some time in 2025. Probably in the summer, but outside chance some time in January.

Tried the demo and beat it on ps5.

You can tell this is a special game once you hit the forest.

$50 is just too steep for my blood and I’m currently addicted to poe2 and marvel rivals.

I am also debating legacy of kain remasters

FYI though, the English VO is great though. Genuinely comedic. Goes for kind of a nostalgic saturday morning cartoon vibe but done well. You'll know what I mean if you run into the Cinderella Tristars.

I was not prepared for Chaos Serpent. I've never encountered a fight like that with the 2 different types of damage grinding you each turn. Damn. Wiped at about 30% life.

Yup, you can use barrier but you basically need cast this almost every turn and before he turn entire stage in to poison.

I'll give it a shot. I avoided mist because it showed effectiveness at 70%, but still worth a try I'm sure.
Mist can be useful because his bite attacks can break barriers in one shot so if he misses his attacks then you can keep your barrier longer.

Also if you got poisoned while entire stage is poison then don’t bother try to cure it because it’s pointless, at that point just focus on attacking with Leo while other two party members focus healing and debuffing the boss.

Got him 2nd try. Was down to the wire. This game is crazy.

Yeah this game is no joke, in the second half the bosses are becoming god damn tough.

I'm dreading how difficult the final boss is going to be.
The final boss isn't too bad imo, I even messed up and got blasted by the nearly 25 attacks his Supernova can do but still won. Omega was the toughest boss, imo (not cheapest, far too many bosses are straight up cheap). Personally, I really dislike the boss fights in this game, far too many are gimmicks where you die unless you know what to do/equip certain gear/learn certain skills. To me it is a 5/10 game. I am enjoying Trails through Daybreak far more.

Also this game must have been crazy for IOS players, given their Normal difficulty is our Hard mode. I probably would have dropped the game.

I disagree, I personally enjoying the boss fights so far and like the fact you need specific tactics to beat them, they are tough but they are very satisfying to beat.

I’ve finished it several times, and this game is the opposite of cheap, honestly. The influence of luck and levels is kept to a minimum, and everything is based on strategy and the proper use of your tools. I understand that it’s a very demanding experience, and that’s not for everyone, but it’s hard for me to believe that the effort and imagination behind all the bosses in this game aren’t recognized; each one with different mechanics and patterns, some even include reactive mechanics in the environment. You have to manage your equipment and abilities, and even the damn status ailments are very useful against bosses, which in most RPGs are just there as decoration (since bosses are usually immune to them).

Fair enough, I definitely can see some people enjoying that, just not me. I think for me the issue is that I don't like going into a fight and almost certainly dying the first time because there is is little you can do unless you know what the tactic/defense is. MMOs, though, are an exception. I expect to die there... a lot.

That’s true with most games with difficult fight that’s even true with games like Souls or Monster Hunter.

When you fight tough enemy for the first time you don’t know what attacks they do or how defend against it until you fight it once, that just nature of majority of video games.

Game is really good, but some of these Boss battle are just wearing me down. Thinking about taking a break form it for a bit....

I got it for Christmas and really enjoying it, hit the 12 hour mark yesterday. Like a long lost late-PS1 game. Play on Switch for blurrier backgrounds and a more authentic experience, lol.

I am thankful for the option to put in random Final Fantasy music in the battles. I really like Uematsu's soundtrack here other than the main battle theme, which has to be one of the worst I've ever heard in a JRPG.
