Remedy Entertainment shared the first gameplay trailer for FBC: Firebreak during this year's Spring Showcase. It's a session-based co-op shooter set in the world of Control where you and up to three friends embark on anomaly-busting jobs, like repelling monsters made of sticky notes. FBC Firebreak is coming to PC, PlayStation and Xbox in the Summer of 2025.

Guess I'll be the odd one out by saying it looks fantastic. Shooting, environments, and the weird action looks great. Waves of samey enemies is kinda...ehh. Good hype trailer.

Look fine, I guess, but the hokey voice over combined with the Control universe seem at odds with each other. Is there any part of the Remedy universe that has this tone to it?

Why is the whole vibe completely wrong for the universe it's set in? Whoever decided that was acceptable should be sacked🤣

Edit, even player character wise it's so out of theme, it's like they slapped borderlands into the control universe, so badly mismatched.

Was going to say it can't be worse than Control, but seeing the trailer I'm not so sure about that.

Could probably be fun for some, I guess.

Man, this could have been a terrific horror MP shooter - and while the Control esthetics are there - they chose to go the more "pulpy", semi-comedic way, why ?

More gameplay. I think this looks awesome. Gunplay looks really good. Also coming to ps extra and game pass day 1 so that will help

It will also be available as a day one launch title in the Game Catalog for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, Game Pass Ultimate for Xbox Series, and PC Game Pass for PC.
Just a reminder for those that are on one of the services.

Wish them the best of luck.

This is not for me.

I want a proper Control sequel.

Vibes are so different, that's why there isn't even a mention of CONTROL in their own trailer.
You wouldn't know this is set in that world if you hadn't played Control, and if you had played it you must already be in.

Lore wise makes sense also. Only absolute crazy people would respond to a job call like that again & again. And FBC couldn't control the "Anomaly/virus/etc" which is why CONTROL 2 will be open world.

There were several characters in Control who were very flippant/jaded about the crazy events going on. It was almost a nod to Douglas Adams. None of them were southern military types, but each of them were unique characters.

A big part of what made Control feel the way it did was hearing Jesse's inner monologue as she was processing everything she was learning and experiencing along the way. That wouldn't really work in this context where you're playing a military character who already knows what they're dealing with and has a radio in their ear.

I LOVED Control. I'm not a fan of a comedic vibe shift here. Where Control had merely drops of goofy, this one seems to be mostly pulpy comedy. Also, I wonder how much of the environmental destruction will this game have compared to Control.

I'm not sure sticky notes is an appropriate implementation of death by a thousand cuts.

The comedy on display feels flat and it does seem out of place, but the latter may have more to do with my preconceived notions about Control.
