Huge OS and RAM usage swings in Steam Survey likely to have been influenced by China influx
Data quake reminds us of the broken results seen back in 2018.
Also that probably chaps Microsoft's ass that Win 10 is growing despite 11 being a 'free' upgrade.
8GB VRAM wouldn't be an issue if all modern engines took a page out of iD Tech's book and had a dynamic texture streaming system with various pool size settings.
even on the lowest setting the textures look good, the only downside of setting it to the lowest is that you might see some pop-in when moving around extremely fast or if your storage is too slow. as even the lowest setting will try to fill your assigned pool with the highest resolution textures if you are close to them.
other engines that just load ugly diarrhea like in the new Monster Hunter unless you set it to the maximum and download an HD texture pack feel so outdated, it's kinda insane.
Yep. And snowdrop games automatically adjust texture quality, UE5 have virtual textures (low vram usage).
But you can't count on competent devs, that's why buying 8GB GPUs in 2025 is a big mistake.
Generally affordable (cheaper than the 3060ti), works well with 99% of the games. But why? the 4060 was shitted all over the internet. specially reviews. I think the 3060Ti outperforms it too.
probably less informed people too.Generally affordable (cheaper than the 3060ti), works well with 99% of the games.
That's what the vast majority of players care about in the end.
what would be a better informed purchase?probably less informed people too.
the 3060Tiwhat would be a better informed purchase?
the 3060Ti
what would be a better informed purchase?
the 3060Ti
Well, I think when I bought the 3060 Ti, it was cheaper or at least in the same ballpark as the 4060.(i was waiting for the 40 series but every review said it was shit)Is it? Seems like you are paying a bit more for a marginal bump in performance
The one i clearly said costs more, and is also limited to 8gb vram?the 3060Ti
They are generally good, yeah. There are a few trade offs however. Also, despite 8gb vram being technically a bottleneck, i've seem very few games where its actually an issue, so i think most people just dont care.I have no idea what is available (and prices) but Intel cards are decent options with 10 and 12GB of memory and maybe 7600XT?
The 3060 was a popular choice in a lot of entry level "gaming laptops". I imagine the 4060 has taken that place, contributing to its rise. I'm not sure if Desktop and Laptop variants are separated, but if they're not, it could definitely be a contributing factor. But why? the 4060 was shitted all over the internet. specially reviews. i think that's kind of a myth (in general) probably more accurate in gaming tho.Still limited by vram.
3060 12GB is the best overall GPU in this segment, lol
now it is more expensive. but back in the day (where the 4060 was just released) the 3060TI was around the same price (if not cheaper)The one i clearly said costs more, and is also limited to 8gb vram?
yeah. The 3060TI is twice as expensive nowGotcha. Think the problem is that since Nvidia doesn't make the 3060 ti anymore and since it outperforms the 4060, some are taking advantage and marking up the remaining cards available.
Looks like stock is going. Driving up prices. Still not as high as during the pandemic.yeah. The 3060TI is twice as expensive now
How many have a 4080 because when you read PC people talking drivel about consoles online they ALWAYS have a 4080/4090/5080/5090…
I’m talking Reddit, X, BSky, other forums lol. People just wanting to dunk on console owners. It’s nothing new.I have one. And a 4090.
But these are enthusiast boards, so the skew of people who have xx80 and xx90 cards will always be higher than in more general circles.
