Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series has sold over 5M copies | Final Fantasy franchise sales now at 200M copies sold

More reasons why they don't have to put any effort in the technical aspect of the games.

Games have awful shimmering when scrolling yet they sell 5 millions. Font size is also stupid.

They must've made a lot of money on this relative to the costs of porting. I can't imagine that it cost a lot to port.

I think it was a bit more work than it seemed. The PC versions had lots of problems when they came out. Some people are still not happy with them.

I mean the console versions are still borderline unplayable. This is easily one of Square most successful grifts.

The FFIV psps remaster was way better. Would have got the collection if they did it in the remaster psp style for V and VI.

I can't stand those pop-faced characters. The same goes for the monsters' chara-design, it's hideous.
A the musical re-orchestration of the Pixels remaster is a step above.

Not bad, but what I want is a FF7 remaster using the Ever Crisis assets.
Change nothing about the game, just the visuals

Am I tripping or wasn't there a mod for FF7 that uses assets from Ever Crisis to make some sort of "remaster"?

I hope Square Enix sees this as a sign to simplify the main Final Fantasy games. I really liked FFXVI and the VII Remake games so far, but I really miss the simplicity and magic of the old numbered FF games, especially from the PS1 era.

I wish that--just as FFIX was a love letter to the Nintendo Final Fantasy games--FFXVII could be a love letter to FFVII, VIII and IX, with great story and music, but without such a great emphasis on graphics and presentation. I know it was a small project not oriented to making millions in money, but I think SQEX should go back to the franchise's origins and look at what Hironobu Sakaguchi did with Fantasian.

Never bought any. I probably should do FF1-3 as they are the only ones I never completed or played.

Im thinking about replaying FF1-FF3. Nothing beats that stupid simple structure they had, be it plot and scenario planning.

Great now fix the Switch version please. Worst $80 bucks I spent on a game so far. The input lag you get on Switch is so annoying. Even the 1.2.0 update did nothing to address it. Can anyone with an OC'ed Switch confirm if the lag is still present? I have a hard time believing these games would struggle on the Switch.

Fun set. The QOL additions are nice, and the arranged OSTs are generally a big improvement, except 6 which is definitely mixed in the results.

Some of the cut corners show though. Using all the same visual effects for magic spells across the first five games is cheap. And then when they actually spend money for FF6 for unique spell effects, they don't bother drafting unique animations for the 'casts' across all skill types (Blitz, Lore, etc.; some of them were redone though, bizarrely).

Not including content from other versions is a bit of a sore spot too. Skill inheritance from FF4 DS and the bonus dungeon/jobs from FF5 Advance were sorely missed for me, but I can understand keeping these versions faithful, I guess. And, uh, they're much better looking that Squeenix's first attempt at their PC releases. >_>
