Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 30 million copies (Phantom Liberty sits at 8 million copies sold)

I think they have learned. Just because it’s done well doesn’t mean they haven’t learned anything. The game was in a really bad state at one point but they stuck with it and turned it around. They made a lot of money off it at launch so they could’ve fucked off with the money and not gave a shit.

A lot of people still think it’s a bad game and are willing to give CDPR shit so their reputation is still damaged but those who have actually played it know that they put in serious work to improve it.

I bought it at launch on PC and it wasn’t terrible but after the 2.0 (?) patch and Phantom Liberty it is a much much much better game and one of my all time favourites.

They can’t afford to fuck up the next release which I think is Witcher 4.
Cyberpunk is a very good game.

The reason I say they will never learn is because this isn't the first time they launched a bug filled borderline unplayable game. They did the same with Witcher 2 and Witcher 3. They didn't learn after those 2 games, and I have a hard time believing they have learned now.

Very impressive. One of the legend redemption arc in history.

I just hope they stay true as the passionate dev when they started witcher 1, and not get overly poisoned by western bullshit modern culture.

gonna play it for the first time + pathtracing when the 5090 is released
The game with everything on max is amazing.

I know but this has been the biggest fuck up. Bigger than the whole Witcher 3 graphics downgrade.

Maybe you’re right but I do think they will be more cautious next time. They can’t afford another shit launch and I don’t think they want their games pulled off stores.

We’ll see

Bought on Xbox One X. Just awful.
Continued on Series S. Just awful.
Finished on Series X. Finished with all bought cars and all side quests. over 100 hours. Just awful
Rebought on PC. Why didn't I wait? Why? It looks and plays so much better.

Biggest fuckup since their last biggest fuckup. Graphial downgrade was the least of Witcher 3's problems.

And they can definitely afford it. They sold 30 million copies of an $80 product, plus 8 million copies of a $30 product.

By the time this game comes out, there'll be a whole new group of "reviewers" and "influencers" who will gladly take their bribe (like the branded yellow Cyberpunk chairs) and forget how abysmal the Cyberpunk launch was, just like the current ones forgot how bad Witcher 3 launch was.

The Witcher 4 is in full swing, they’re not making a Pro patch, guys; they don’t need to.

OT: Awesome news and well deserved after how they completely turned 2077 around.

Deserved after that long road to redemption they went through by keep updating the game, tho all that could have been avoided if they didn't got greedy with PS4/bone versions

Sorry, but this math is wrong. They absolutely did NOT sell 30 millions copies of a $80 product.

I thought so at first.. but perhaps it's a joke that there aren't many Pro users.. so it will only add little sales?

So what's this?

That's the MSRP and looking at price history on both Steam and GOG, it has spent most of its time at full price. But let's average it out to $60 if it makes you more comfortable with the math. Point still stands.

I completed the game at launch on PC and despite its shortcomings, I still had a great time. I really need to go back and play it through again and see just how much they've improved it.

Wrong again.

But no worries. If you want to inflate a price to show a product is more lucrative (ludicrous, also given the work to salvage it after the first weeks and such), i simply will ignore you (already has)

Dude, where are you taking this data from? MSRP on Steam for most of the regions was $60 or lower. The only region close to $80 is Switzerland at $78.86. The second highest is Costa Rica at $68.46.
And it's constantly on -50% sale.

That's not port begging, since there already is a PS5 port. It's asking Project Red to keep their games up to date to support a new consoles revision. Every fucking games company should be required to this. It's nonsense that we as paying customers even have to ask companies to do this.

I'm not sure it's port begging because there's a PS5 version and a theoretical Pro patch would only be an enhancement. It's not like Cyberpunk is a new game.

So, it is PRO version begging not port begging. Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, it's probably not viable for CDPR business-wise as PS platform accounts only for 20% of CP2077 sales... and PS5 PRO is a fraction of that currently.

Maybe they will work on it some years later when Pro user base will be bigger. They are not afraid to go back to old projects and upgrade them as we saw with next-gen version of W3.

Didn't play it as I didn't like Witcher but wasn't this boycotted?

30 Mil added to the 30+ Mil of Hogwarts suggests that boycotts against stronger targets aren't very effective.

13% on Xbox with most of it probably on the base version since it sold more than their Pro. If it was financially viable to release on xbox pro why not PS5 Pro? Just because xbox got a 4 year head start because they're innovators?

30 millions is good, The Witcher 3 has 50 million? Don't think CP will reach that numbers but still very nice.
Cyberpunk is actually selling better when you compare it to when W3 reached 30M units. It took W3 around 5 years vs 4 years for Cyberpunk.

CDPR always had good business relationships with Microsoft (console exclusive of W2, revealing W3 on xbox E3 showcase, custom cyberpunk themed console and controller, Keanu Reeves reveal at xbox showcase to name few). I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft paid them to release that patch or offer some other assistance.

We've gotta get phil over to our side somehow. He's quite the strategist

But this gens xbox pro console got a version so why should Playstation be left out when it sells more copies?

PS didn’t outsell Xbox by much and now consider what that tiny sliver of that 20% bought a ps5 pro. Only way this is getting a pro patch is if Sony pays like Apple very likely did. I hope they do though because this game would be by far the best benchmark for how hard they could push RT on a console.

Very good. The game is in another league entirely compared to products from Bethesda, Bioware or Ubisoft. So the high sales are well deserved.
Now, Larian has basically replaced Bioware and Warhorse is replacing Bethesda, so we will still get some great RPGs in the future.

they launched a bug filled borderline unplayable game. They did the same with Witcher 2 and Witcher 3.
This is revisionist history and dare I say, complete lie/fabrication

Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 were both perfectly playable at launch and reviewed well by both gamers and journalists right at launch. Were they flawless? No, but they were night and day compared to Cyberpunk on lastgen.

I played both the day they came out, they were fine.

That said, PC version of C77 was also good enough when it comes to stability and bugs, there the problem was more with AI and some missing features.

CAD. I should have specified CAD since that's my region. And I chose $60 CAD as an average between full price and half price. Seems like a sensible approximation to make here. That's why averages exist after all.

wow PC is a beast, i would have guessed PS5 at least 40%-50%.
edit: is there this kind of info about the base game?

Some NeoGAF users taught me that the only way for them to turn this game into a success is by releasing a PS5 Pro patch. Without this move, they are basically doomed. (THEY HAVE TO DO THIS, THEY OWE IT TO US, THESE LAZY M*******S)

The adjusted breakdown is as follows:

for 2020: PC – 56%, PlayStation 4 – 28%, Xbox One – 17%
for 2021: PC – 58%, PlayStation 4 – 20%, Xbox One – 22%

Source

Phantom Liberty isn't available for last-gen consoles, so the much higher PC % is due to that.
