First 27 Minutes of RiME Gameplay

Honestly The Last Guardian gave me my fill of this kind of game for a while. I would have bought this before that came out but I already know it's not going to be as good as an authentic Ueda title so I don't really feel any personal drive to play it.

Some ppl were complaining about lack of colors after that Re-Reveal Trailer, well:

Not just colors, also shadows on textures and AO looks much better compared to that trailer.

But i guess it also depends on the weather and day-night cycle. But i prefer new video much more.

There's something really off about that kid's running animation.

Also, there is no transition between swimming underwater and swimming on the surface.

The camera movement doesn't feel natural during the first minutes, and the transition between diving and swimming is too abrupt. I stopped watching the video after the first 10 minutes because I don't want to spoil myself, but sometimes the camera movements, along with the animations, look weird.

I liked what I saw but if the game doesn't change its pace and mood frequently, I can see it becoming boring after the first hour. That said, I'm actualy surprised the game looks this good.

Nitpicking time! The camera transition when going in and out of water is pretty jarring.

Exactly.

Really? Come on man IGN is playing this. It would be incredibly difficult to fake 27 minutes of straight gameplay with no cuts.

There are cuts.

No, Sony terminated their relationship with Tequila Works. It was re-revealed recently as multi-plat.

Did they? → http://attackofthefanboy.com/news/rime-dev-explains-split-sony/

"Well, contrary to what is believed, we haven't had any development issues with the game. The only thing is that we took the IP rights from Sony Computer Entertainment back for the Rime franchise, because we felt that was a valuable property for Tequila Works to have. And then we secured a different publisher, which is Six Foot and Grey Box. They are from the United States, and that's the end of it, really. Some people imply that we would have some troubles with development, but that was never the case, the game is progressing perfectly, and we will offer more information, and show more gameplay, and we'll announce platform availability very early next year. So we are not far from hearing interesting news about Rime."

Delving further into the split with Sony, he said that "It's really not complicated. We decided that having the IP rights for one of our properties, and a game that was always conceived and planned, and dreamt of by Tequila Works, should remain in house. And that was why we reacquired the rights to the IP, and we came to this agreement with Sony, it was all on friendly terms. And of course, you know this industry has a lot of gossip and rumors, but really, that's it. It's not a complicated story."

The music is fantastic. Looks much better than the new trailer they released. Im just having trouble with the thought that the puzzles might look kind off dull, has something to do with the design. Hopefully Im wrong.

Alright I'm gonna give my honest impression, at 7 minutes I almost fall asleep. The game has a vibrant charm to it and the music is fantastic, but the whole puzzle thing doesn't keep my attention. Back when this game was first announced I was excited for it because I thought it was going to be a story game with a very beautiful top notch animation style. If PSN has it on sale with a tempting price I might just added to my backlog, but this is not going to be day 1 purchase. Still happy for them getting it out.

Looks like the love child of Wind Waker and Ico. Very pretty. :3
This game is not going to be a full sized and full priced game, right?

.

Hi there Felipe!

Our retail and digital price points for the US is $29.99, while other territories have varying price points. For PR, Grey Box is handling this, so you're welcome to contact me VIA private messages with any inquires into that.

Thanks for asking!

I didn't watch it all. But I agree for the most part.
Loved the music but I think the original had better lighting.

Also it looked the fake original (aka the one that didn't really exist) had combat of some sort too?

I know about the difficulty and i'm glad puzzles are challenging enough, i was just saying i don't know what to think because i'm not yet sold on its gameplay. To me it still seems too much like a blend of the Witness and The Last Guardian without having its own identity,

After watching this footage I think the game has enough of its own identity despite riffing quite heavily from the obvious places.

Still, I'm undecided too. Will keep it on my radar for sure, but will likely wait for reviews.

well there you go. it's even more simple. the dev decided later they wanted to own the IP.

later or before split?

I should be more explicit about what I am saying. Once again, Sony choosing to terminate the agreement was not a statement of quality by Sony nor is Sony releasing a game a statement of quality ( this goes for all publishers btw ). The only thing it says is it either went over budget or the working relationship between the two was just that bad that it's better to end it and move on rather than dealing with increasing tensions.

^ also this. doesn't seem correct – http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=228027120&postcount=105

I don't get how websites - hell, press websites of all things - still get basic things like colors of trailers wrong. Dealing with such media is part of their freaking jobs, and it isn't really that complicated, either.

Not that they are the only ones - if my memory's correct, there's a bunch of times where Sony themselves provided shittily encoded videos to the press, like an Uncharted one with diminished dynamic range or something. How.

This is a huge win for me TBH
(Since I've never bought a PS console, never will)
Tequila Works will probably never, ever make any exclusives with PS ever again.

So any if not all Tequila Works games will go to multiplat.
It's a great win for me and MS/PC.

* Finger's crossed XBoxOne/PC get this exclusive -just change the name.

Please don't ban me lol

Why would you ever ask for a multiplat to go exclusive?

very impressive art style.
I wish Zelda BOTW would have gone the same route, very simple and beautiful. Everything still looks crisp.

I do have to stay the running to get to stuff and shouting could get annoying, so hopefully there's more to puzzles than this.

EDIT: I just wish BOTW trees would look the same. I'm mostly not a fan of the trees.

My niece came into the room as I was watching the video and said "What's that called?" and I replied Rime. And then she said, "I want to play that". I said, I do too.

It looks very unique and have been interested since day 1. I am just very skeptical for the simple fact that sony dropped the game. Hope for the best because from the gameplay it looks amazing, then again the reveal trailer looked amazing and that was all lies sadly. :(

Playing a puzzle game isn't the same as watching a puzzle game.

later or before split?

That's a statement based on the article you posted. I was disputing the charge that Sony not publishing Rime meant trouble. I was citing various reasons why publishers and developers might split. The article you linked explains this as Tequila Works wanting the IP. Deciding later against exclusivity is another reason a publisher/developer agreement might end in the case of First Party publisher/third party developer.

Fell asleep 5 minutes in the video. Mind you I'm super tired, but there isnt much going on either, I guess I was expecting some sort of survival mechanics, having to keep a fire lit and finding food or what not, unless it's there and I missed it.

While not impossible, it would be pretty bizarre for a UE4 game to have framerate or resolution caps on PC.

Anyway, this still looks great.

You never know, today anything is possible. Lol
Just asking. Since there is no info like SR, or anything on Steam. I know there are still 4 months left but...

Is QLOC doing the PC version?
Do you know will there be PC specific graphics options and 4K/60+ fps support?

Thanks.

QLOC is involved in the project they are doing the PC Version. As far as FPS and graphics options we're still optimizing it and have yet to have a final set of system specs just yet.

Ok, QLOC working on it already sounds great and promising. Thanks for the answer.

Thank god there isn't what you expected, lol.
With survival games, popping up like mushrooms after the rain, this looks refreshing.

I can't believe people are still skeptical. I skipped around in the video to not spoil much. If this were all pre-rendered don't you think they'd choose a smoother running animation or better AI and collision detection with the boars. There's quite a bit of jankiness in this footage that wasn't present in the old, presumably faked, reveal trailer. At one point a baby boar even glitches out on a rising platform. Why would you fake something and include such obvious flaws?
