First Z2 handheld leaks. Lenovo Go 2 and Lenovo S with SteamOS.

The good one should have steam os installed. Windows 11 is utter garbage on these devices.

Lenovo so close to getting it perfect, but have somehow managed to fuck it up.

It says Default OS so maybe there will be a way to dual boot. It is in Valve’s best interest to get SteamOS on as many devices as possible after all.

Deck is still the only one with the touch panels. Just wish it wasn’t so heavy and bulky.

To be fair - size isn't much different from SD - but these have larger screens and substantially more battery (nearly 2x in case of Aya Neo).

Also - to keep the touch-pads useable, not sure you 'can' shrink the form factor by too much.
Eg GPD Win 4 is a fair bit smaller - but the pad becomes so tiny it's more like a 'nub' (or on the left hand size - it's just a finger-print sensor).

The garbage still "just works" with gazillions more games.
you mean with little to no driver support? with dogshit UI for handhelds? Unoptimized as fuck when compared with Steam OS?

Yeah, it "works" with a few games that don't yet run on Steam OS, but not really that many more tbh.

And yes, I have both steam deck and a windows handheld.

Yeah they are necessary for a device like this IMO
Do they 'really' work for M&KB games in practice? I mean not the 'I'm getting claw-hands and wincing in pain' kind of gameplay.
Like I am not sure I'd want to play Civ with a one-handed touch panel, and for action/shooters I just don't see how I'd ever be fast enough. For the latter at least - basically every handheld has Gyros and I find that way better than using touch-pad to aim.

In what dimension Steam Deck and others has little to no driver support? What dog shit UI for handhelds? That that we have to navigate with retarded dpad?? That exists on Windows too with Big Picture. Give us a list of those only few games that doesn't work/work properly on SteamOS, pls.

For CIV and anything slow paced like that they are great. I use them for anything turn based like MTGA, Bloons, Slay the Spire, etc. Way better than navigating with controller UI.

Might pick up a Lenovo Legion Go 2 and install Bazzite on it.

Just waiting for battery life and fan noise because that was the biggest impediment to purchasing this year's edition.

Just make sure to check the reviews for the ergonomics part of it.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think this model isn't very comfortable to hold from what I've seen.

I would prefer a lightweight/small model in the $200-300 range instead of heavy/large handheld devices over $500. I guess I'll have to wait a few more years.

Are there any signs, that all these handhelds can become more compact and with longer battery life?

Or it's impossible until they switch to ARM?

I don't think you understood what I said, re-read it please. Windows has dogshit UI and support on handhelds. Steam OS runs like a champ and is the template of what a computer gaming OS should look like.

LOL @ $600+ for old ass Zen3/RDNA2, that shit's more outdated and and very likely worse than the existing 2 year old Z1 Extreme. Why in the world would anyone buy these "S" products, why does this "Z2 Go" chip even exists, total waste of sand and fab capacity.

That’s the one that came out in 2023

I understood very well. It's you that don't understand that the UI (Steam Big Picture UI that we ALSO have on Windows) that is more retarded and limited to navigate compared trackpad + touch screen navigation is not better for a handheld.

Going to be real interesting to see performance and price of Z2 vs regular AI 370 or whatever nonsense it’s called.

Oh my bad. You’re right and that is weird.

Must be some years old laptop part they had a surplus of, or some unfulfilled production contract they'd already paid for. Makes no logical or financial sense whatsoever to be producing cores that old given the price and demand of fab capacity.

Dude, are you joking right now? Steam OS is not just steam big picture. Have you ever used a steam deck? Literally the worst part of using windows on a handheld is the windows in of itself. Windows is unusable without mouse & keyboard, absolute shit with touch interface.

I'd like to see something like the GPD Win 4 or Ayaneo Flip without a keyboard or second screen. Stick on one or two touchpads. GPD Win 4 slider but put the gamepad controls on the bottom slider part too. Thumbstick suffers but more compact while maybe being able to make a 7" display feel closer to portable like a 7" Android tablet

How did the Z1 compare with the 7840/780m anyway? Last I heard Lenovo and Asus users were just using the non-Z1 drivers cause AMD more reliably updates the generic drivers.
