Image quality is really good. Performance, well, I've played little and it seemed fine, but other people claim it's a regression and it's back to base PS5 levels. Perhaps their dynamic res target is a bit too ambitious and need to drop the lower bounds.

I updated, played for a couple mins. Personally think speed mode, is great. Looks better and is smooth to me at least. Before patch it looked a mess.

Before patch it was a blurry mess.
The gameplay saved this game so much.

I am also waiting for the patch before i continue the game.

Again, it looks better BUT, actually performs pretty much the same as the game on base PS5 (meaning, not good).
It SURELY runs worse compared to the unpatched version running on Pro.

It's good for those that do pixel counting, for those that actually like to play the game though it's not good.

It was actually A-OK on the Pro before this patch, at least the framerate was hovering above the 50-ish fps mark during hectic moments, now ? It can drop as low as 40something like before.

I'm friggin' disappointed

Just played a few minutes and the frame rate seemed fine to me. I'm early in the game though. Image quality is definitely improved.

Performance mode looks great. No longer a giant blurry mess. Framerate can still tank outside of the VRR window in very hectic environments.

IQ is a big step up. It was already better from brute forcing it up to a consistent 1080p in speed mode, but the upper end being 1440p after the update is noice.

Gonna start campaign over, I think. Only got halfway before I started waiting for the patch.

Not a single frame drop in performance mode. I only saw one dark shimmering artifact that stood out slightly at the start of the game, on a tiny grass area.

The scene that digital foundry showed in there technical analysis, where the frame rate dropped during a scene, with a horde of tiny parasites, where you have to keep them at bay by using a flame thower, had no stutters or frame drops at all.

I just saw a video playing this patch and the game is dropping frames all time.

From what I've been reading. Performance requires VRR, but only drops outside the window in rare, already known problematic areas. General impression I'm getting is most think its a great update. Good to see PSSR implemented well too.

I just wish they'd add HDR.
Yeah I didn't know there wasn't HDR implemented until I booted the game up. Do you think they'll add it un at some point, as HDR really transforms a game in my opinion.

Post the video

If he has VRR it's probably within the window unlike the PS5 where it consistently went below the 48fps so you felt the drops.

Lads, please let's not do this, the game, after the patch drops frames heavily when under hectic moments compared to the unpatched version on the Pro.

VRR doesn't help, I've already tried it, also, there are these... heavy stutters which - for some reason - appear to be random since they do happen even when there's not much happening on the screen.

Non reason in lying or even exaggerate, the game DOES look better now in perf.mode but it also DOES drop frames more frequently compared to the unpatched version.

This is gonna be another PS portal-like stutter discussion where many were "lol, it's fine for me, must be your internet/router/you're imagining things" isn't it ?

It's kind of sad to see in a technical forum like this one where performance discussions are a daily thing not discussing or throwing under the proverbial rug such - very visible and notable - problems, some may be satisfied with the end result but the fact is, the game now performs worse than it did unpatched on the Pro.

Not trying to single you chaps out, It's just that after seeing the ridiculous posts on Reddit where people gash over literally imaginary "updates" (ie , games that have no DRS/haven't received patches/don't have any improvements on the Pro)...how did Mugatu say it ? "I think I'm taking crazy pills" ?

I posted a video showing the improved performance. Not sure what else there is to say. This is a clear upgrade.

See, this is the thing, you're blindly trusting some videos when in reality it's more nuanced than that :
The video you've posted dear Toph is from the first 2 missions where - generally speaking - isn't a good performance barometer since they run pretty OK (but still worse than the XSX version) even on base PS5, the REAL barometer are the final couple of missions (or the 4th one IIRC with the rats and the flamethrower) but most importantly, It's the online co-op missions which could bring the game to its knees when it comes to performance.Have you tried playing them btw ?

Played the same exact missions on the Pro both patched AND unpatched and let me tell you, the unpatched version performed better.

I don't know what else to say, again, this is another "lol it's you" PS portal thread where people would say that there was no stutter problem when in fact, Sony actually patched/fixed the damned thing a couple of days ago.

Every combat have framerate drops. The user I replied literally said 0 drops. VRR only fix stuttering, not magically increase the framerate

I never said VRR increased the frame rate! I'm playing on a 77 inch oled with VRR enabled and I haven't noticed frame drops or stuttering.
