probably like 1/3rd of my top ten would be hiphop, maybe 1/4 even. i listen to a lot of other music..

Me. I think Illmatic is the better album, but the question was top 10 favourite albums. I love Illmatic, but I heard Stillmatic first (don't ask) so it's special that way.

Good question, and definitely yes. Other than the hip-hop albums, I'd just need to make room for Dark Side of the Moon, Ride the Lightening, Pinkerton, and maybe American IV or Jazz but rap is dominant in my listening rotation.

Executive producers basically oversee the entire project and guide the artist in a certain direction. IMO "executive producer" in hip hop is basically what "producer" is in nearly every other genre of music; hip hop basically views producers as beat makers.
If Dr Dre executive produces your album he's going to craft a lot of the music, change production, etc. It's basically creative input

3 and 4 could switch.
If I was mixing them with other albums, it would be lemons at 1, GLU at 5ish, and the other two at 10 or just outside.
All those albums happened to come out at significant times in my life and had an impact on me like no other albums have. Which is why YCIHMFWH isn't a top 10 for me, even though it's a very good album, it came out when there was nothing going on my life and nothing to relate to.

Yeah, I left off some great albums from B.I.G., Jay-Z, Nas, Outkast, Ice Cube, ATCQ, Busta Rhymes, Masta Ace, Mobb Deep, etc. etc., but what it came down to was picking those albums that I always, always, seem to go back to when I have nothing new to play. Stuff that I can put on beginning to end at any time without skipping. Was a tough elimination process, but I think I'm alright with this.
