Every time I hear a Dream record I imagine him playing that shit for Jay and Beyonce during a private picnic. They gas him up, hyping the song...then they ask him to go get the Cirac from the Bently trunk. He struggles up a hill towards the parking lot, then Bey turns his music off, turns on The Weeknd, and has sex with Hov. By the time Dream comes back with the Cirac he's tired, and Bey has turned his music back on. They tell him they love his music and he gets a boner as he makes sandwiches for them.
Needless to say, I don't fuck with Dream.
The Dream is eating like mad, he prolly made like $20 mill just of Bieber's "baby" so I doubt he's stressing that much. but yeh it does seem like he's craving to get recognized now.
Honest to god, all the people I know that love the-dream aside from myself and handful of gaffers are female. That's the only thing I can add to this. Most dudes just don't fuck with him at all and don't care to.
I still don't know how Dope Bitch didn't blow up and he had to fight label to get IV Play out.
When I listed the Wu albums that was just the order.
Wu Forever > Liquid Swords > OB4CL > Supreme Clientele > 36 Chambers > Return 36 > Tical > Bulletproof Wallets > The W
IMO. Wu forever as the top choice is weird but the beats are really polished and everyone was at their peak lyrically, even if there is a ton of BS on the album.
Get on that man. Taking too long.Confession time. I've never listened to any of the Wu's work.
but on the real, MBDTF and GKMC are better than anything from the Wu, as individuals or a group.
I fucks with Tical real heavy.
Confession time. I've never listened to any of the Wu's work.
Is it Gaf-Hop confession time again?
Gaf-Hop, I don't much dig any of that dirty Wu shit. Sorry, 36, I don't even see why those ninjas get the play they do.
first listened to Chance the Rapper yesterday and listened to a few songs of his since then... not sure what to make of him. Definitely sounds more original than a lot of the other young and up n comers but I'm not sure if I like his voice or not.
I actually got past his voice today. Listened to his whole tape while driving. Very nice style. Cocoa Butter Kisses is a great track.
Replace The Weeknd with Frank Ocean and that's pretty much my list.Frank Ocean > Weeknd > Dream > Miguel
I like them all though.
I knew it would happen eventually. SHit is just too catchy man. Even if you hate it you can't help but sing some of those songs in your head. *dap* on the 808 and heartbreak love too
Discotheque just probably hasn't gotten around to listening to channel.BOREANGE yet.Replace The Weeknd with Frank Ocean and that's pretty much my list.
Was technically 3 albums he released over the past year or so in one package, but you're right.one of the best albums of the year it released.
Frank Ocean > Weeknd > Dream > Miguel
I like them all though.
The Dream> Weeknd> Frank Ocean> Miguel
but forreal:
James Blake> Teen Inc. > Deptford Goth> Autre Ne Veut> How to Dress Well > Rhye
...what do you know about that list.
I didn't know Autre Ne Veut and How to Dress Well counted. Dream is so damn generic and boring. The Weekend's sound is beyond stale now.
James Blake is a far better instrumentalist than any of these motherfuckers, but he's not as good a writer as Frank. Blake's shit tends to be as bad a mothafuckin JRPG when it comes to convolution, whereas Frank knows how to strike without doing that, or sounding like Babies First R&B track.
He's a far better writer than Miguel, The Dream, or The Weeknd, though.
the-dream is by far the best producer out of all of them. hell i'd argue he's the best writer too (Frank's pen is a little too flighty for my liking). maybe not for his own stuff, but overall. his voice is his weak point.
I just cant get past how...generic Dream is. He is solid, but doesnt have that "special" something. Like how Abel has date rapping girls and Frank has his homosexuality, Dream has nothing unique.
Mod warning: Obviously part of that post was tongue in cheek, I dont see Date rape as a positive or being gay as a negative.
That motherfucker put clams casino on his album
JUST BLAZE again....yes
Not sure how anything you said refutes what I said, since everything I said was just my opinion. I even said he was good and liked him. Calm down. What? Did you all just start listening to The Dream? Surely you are joking. I love The Weeknd for the production but The-Dream is going on like 4 straight super hot albums along with the multitudes of #1 pop classics he wrote for other people. I'm not even sure how people are calling dude generic.
If that is real...then it just became my most anticipated album of the year.
the-dream is by far the best producer out of all of them. hell i'd argue he's the best writer too (Frank's pen is a little too flighty sometimes for my liking). maybe not for his own stuff, but overall. his voice is his weak point.
I would say Dreams production, while good, is completely forgettable compared to The Weeknd, and others.
Yeah, I share Recons exact opinion. It's actually my opinion on The Dream at large. I haven't heard every LP of his, but what I have heard has never made me go 'fuck, I gotta hear what else this dude has to offer' It's just there. IV Play is eliciting the same reaction out of me: played it a few times, like it, will probably never listen to again.
James Blake beat too. I've been waiting for someone to finally give this dude a call for some of his production.
Needs to give a July release date or August hopefully...
