George Lucas Will Be Fully Involved In 'Indiana Jones 5' According To Spielberg

I have a big problem with the refrigerator scene like everyone else but that's pretty much it. I enjoy that film. It's no where near being my favorite but it didn't hate it at all and I have no problem rewatching it.

So you didn't have an issue with the fake jungle chase with the cgi swinging monkey brigade?

No thanks. Not to say Lucas shouldn't have involvement, it just shouldn't be as part of the writing team. Keep him under restraints and he can be a great asset.

Ford can't carry a film anymore so this was always going to be bad but with George...

oof

The hilarious scene in Skull when a stone wheel is busting a bridge apart behind a bored looking Ford was reason enough for the movie getting made.

He can be involved, Spielberg just needs to be honest when he has a shit idea.

Squeal, Indy.

I'm glad to hear. For better or worse, Indy is a Lucas & Spielberg thing and I feel it must keep being that way to the very end.

I hope they make a last one, be a good farewell and leave it rest forever, hopefully well protected from "remakes" and "reboots".

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

that isn't happening. This is to be a springboard for future Indy movies.

You have another Lucasfilm property, Indiana Jones, and Steven Spielberg has agreed to make a fifth film. Will there be an Indiana Jones universe, eventually, like Star Wars?

Not like Star Wars, no. But we hope … right now, we're focused on a reboot, or a continuum and then a reboot of some sort.

Reboot? You've got Harrison Ford for this movie, and then the presumption is there will be a younger …

Well, we'll bring him back, then we have to figure out what comes next. That's what I mean. It's not really a reboot, it's a boot — a reboot. I don't know.

THR has been using the term "requel" for these sequels that reboot the franchise.

Requel. (Laughs.) We [got] Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the film. But then what's the direction? I've had discussions about what the direction is, [but] I don't want to get into it.

But you do see making more films?

Yes, I do. I don't think it reaches the scale of the universe of Star Wars, but I see making more. It won't be just a one-off.

It's only slightly more ridiculous than the mine cart chase in Temple of Doom.

This. I don't know where people get the idea that the Indiana Jones series is some realistic or some serious franchise. There is a lot of stupid or silly, or WHAT!? stuff in this franchise. That's why I say the nuke and fridge thing is the biggest issue I have. Everything else is on par with the other movies. They just had better technology to work with when it came to the Crystal Skull.

I honestly feel if he had some degree of input with The Force Awakens wouldn't have felt like an A New Hope repeat in a lot of ways. Say what you will about the prequels they at least were unique and not repeats of past films.

"They are awful films but at least they are unique"

I'm fine with that honestly. Just don't go the Crystal Skull with that ridiculous amounts of CG and absolute horrendous story telling/action. The movie has really great moments. Just on average it's not amazing.

Cool. That's good to hear. I don't agree with Lucas not being involved on some level with Indiana Jones and even Star Wars. The ship might have sailed with Star Wars I guess. However Indy will always be Lucas' and Spielberg's baby. He should be there to some degree. I honestly feel if he had some degree of input with The Force Awakens wouldn't have felt like an A New Hope repeat in a lot of ways. Say what you will about the prequels they at least were unique and not repeats of past films. They were original and as much as I enjoy A Force Awakens it was not. I think he should still be there to a degree like he was there for The Clone Wars series.

Y'know, except for how the prequels shamelessly pull imagery from the from the OT just as bad, if not worse, than Force Awakens

Come on haters..dont be asses. Lucas as produced every single film. He is not involved in the script or story this time. I'm not going to rush to judgment.

George wanted children as the lead characters in the SW sequels. He went soft in the head a long time ago.
